So the new guy, Wei Chen, will be joining the team which is great and good for team Happy.

Judging from the preview, we will be finally seeing Bao.

So glad this show is back. I'm ready to see ye qiu back in the pro league but ik it wont be this season. The team is definitely shaping up though and I'm sure its gonna be great. I'm considering watching the live action version of this but I'm not sure if it's worth it or not. I may just continue to enjoy this ride

After seeing episode 7, I was certain that nothing in the rest of the season would top it, but episode 8 more or less does just that.

I'm loving the interaction between Ye Xiu and Wei Chen.
I'm surprised and glad at how much time they spent on the fight. All I remember from the web novel was Wei Chen's group overwhelming Ye Xiu, Yifan shows up, and they kill Wei Chen and take his weapon.
Also happy that they could work some nice characterization into the fight with Ye Xiu and Wei Chen trying to trick each other and Yifan being less experienced. Although, I do wish they made Yifan falling for Wiei Chen's trap more obvious. Some people missed that Wei Chen was moving to attack Ye Xiu when his real target was Yifan; that's why both Ye Xiu and Yifan tried to warn each other: Ye Xiu saw through the fake out, but Yifan didn't.
Nice shout out to Zhou Yebai. I like that they didn't stop to explain who he was specifically. We haven't met him yet, but based on context, it's clear that he's a ghostblade player on Tiny Herb.
The flashback bit to Wei Chen on Blue Rain was unexpected, but very welcome. The benefit of the show being made after the web novel's been completed is they get to insert the prequel chapters into the story. Last episode had one as well, but this one really puts the episode over the top for me.
What was up with Huang Shaotian wearing that lion hoodie while everybody else was in their Blue Rain gear?
That insert song, Accompany Me to Forever, is up there as one of my favorite songs to come out of the show. It was used before in episode 2, but this time really hit it home.
The main through line for this series is old vs new with the old trying to reclaim their former glory while the new is trying to establish their own legacies. Ye Xiu's relationship with Sun Xiang clearly fits and the OVAs added some more with Tang Hao and Wang Jiexi, but nobody represents that dichotomy better than Wei Chen and the rest of Blue Rain (except maybe Tang Hao/Lin Jinyan).

This episode pretty much did everything the last episode did for me, but having the bulk of the Wei Chen fight as opposed to episode 7 only have the beginning gives episode 8 the edge.

Ye Xiu and Wei Chen interactions are great, really well done. I loved them in the live action too and it's nice to know that it's flowing just as well here too.

It was fun watching two of the most shameless players go at it, but I have to say that the high point of the episode was seeing Ye Xiu being able to carry the torch of Su Muqiu with his ability to inspire even an old-timer as Wei Chen to follow the dream of a Championship victory.

An encounter with an old acquaintance, a battle, some throwback and now, Wai Chen himself decided to return to the eSports scene along with Ye Xiu himself, despite his middle-aged man's status, he got the force to keep him going forward. Seems like team Happy is recruiting slowly, but surely.
