Haha, just kidding, just muster up the courage and watch Hunter x Hunter ^^.
Gon vs. Netero

In the Chimera Ant Arc, who lost more, Gon or Netero?
Try not to spoil any of the further story and only draw from the previous episodes. What do you think, offer some of your insight on this topic. If you like reading/participating/lurk it's all up to you, Free for all begin.

**HXH Anime up to episode 134 spoilers***
Background information:
Gon: During his second encounter with Neferipitou, Gon apparently sacrificed the entirety of his potential just to gain enough power to avenge Kite's death and defeat Pitou. The power of avenging is present here!

Isaac Netero: knew from the start that he was not strong enough to defeat the king, so he had a miniature rose implemented in his body. What does this reveal about him? This shows that he walked valiantly in his match knowing that he will not leave alive. This purports the fact that he resigned his life due to his dignity and sense of duty to the Hunter Association.

Sample:
The question may seem childish, which it is, for it is a Yes/No simple question, but in the end can boil down to much deeper topics including paraplegic and how one could live their life. I have decided to look at through the value of a life:

At first glance, it seems that Isaac Netero may have sacrificed much more, for he did forfeit his life for a greater cause, but upon closer inspection, Gon might have sacrificed even more. It may be true that taking a life is the ultiamte price to pay, but in Gon's case he sacrificed his future. He was prepared to never use Nen again. To put things into perspective, Wing-san once said: "A person without Nen is like being naked in a snowstorm." So, Gon crippled himself, making him forever handicap and defenseless just for an overwhelming transient power.

At this point in the story, Gon actually lost more. Gon was swindled by Pitou for Pitou knew Kite was dead all along (She killed him!), but she still went along with the deal. Using her natural cunning catlike charms, she deceives Gon. However Gon refuses to accept this crueal realit and loses control of himself, reducing himself to nothing but his primal instincts to inflict harm on Pitou.
Gon has been deceived, and sacrifices everything to make Pitou pay. He no longer cared about anything, not his future, not his friends. Gon is potentially handicap for the rest of his life, and I believe that living a life to the fullest can only consist of not being a cripple. What is life if you cannot do whatever you want to, where you have no strength, and always have to rely on others? There is no value to a life in being a cripple for eternity.
I apologize that this topic was so limited to only people who watched Hunter X Hunter, in the future I will try and make the topic more open. This was a test run, so yea use this as a stepping stone to improve the quality of future discussions.

I agree with you and I'd like to build up more on your point regarding Netero.

By the time in the King fought Netero, Netero was years (possibly decades) beyond his prime. Remember that Netero is over 100 years old. Unlike Gon, Netero didn't have years of training or potential to sacrifice. He had already used that up. We can see that Netero had grown weaker in age by the fact that he was very worn out by using his strongest move, Zero Hand. Also, Netero was constantly searching for a worthy opponent of him, and the King proved to be what he was seeking. If you ask me, Netero met a very satisfying end.

You make some interesting points, which made me feel like this topic of debate was not thoroughly formulated. I will also build Netero's point of how he didn't lose much. Netero, as he grew older, longed for an opponent worthy of taking his strongest blows. Mereum did just that, he fulfilled Netero's desires. Netero knew that if someone could take his blows, he would stand no chance, so in short, Netero: Desire for a strong foe = Desire for death. Looks like Netero actually welcomed death in the end. My apologies, it looks like there will not be anybody who will defend chairman Netero losing much in the arc =/ poor Netero.

However John_Smithsu, I advise you to not only disparage the side you disagree with, but also build up Gon's argument, maybe a just a little, not just "I agree". Because in a debate, taking sides isn't enough and beating down the other side will not grant victory i.e., you must not only put the opposing side in a position to lose, but put yourself in a position to win.

It looks like this debate can wrapped and be archived now. Now that you point it out, my topic was much too particular and one sided, and most of the people who voted have not even watched this show.
