Kami no Tou: Ouji no Kikan

On the 20th floor of the Tower, the "Regulars" who have been permitted to enter have to undertake arduous and extremely expensive tests to rank up. Most abandon hope and choose to stay where they are—but not Ja Wangnan.

Wangnan is determined to reach the top and become the king of the Tower. However, he is weak and has repeatedly failed the exam, with debt collectors tailing him. In desperation, he attempts the exam one more time, only to encounter a mysterious and powerful individual: Jyu Viole Grace, a member of the crime syndicate FUG.

Cursing his rotten luck, Wangnan has no choice but to form alliances with strong people, including Viole—who still refuses to be part of any team. Amid a dire situation, Wangnan must find a way to change Viole's mind to finally advance past the 20th floor, or he will never get a chance to build his legacy.

This anime deserves a much better score than it got. A low score on MyAnimeList shouldn't surprise anyone, but the score really is way too low. Yes, it has some quality and pacing issues but it is otherwise fantastic. Frankly, if the dip in quality is what allowed us to get 24 episodes, then I would say it was well worth it.

I wish every anime could have the same level of animation and art quality as season 1 of One Punch-Man, but that simply isn't possible. The story is still fun, entertaining, thrilling, and overall very enjoyable. So just relax and enjoy the show.

Mixed Feelings

If you made it through Season 1 then you should know what you are in for at this point. Tower of God is one of the most beloved Manhwas out there and thus was one of the most hyped Anime in the last 10 years. And Man did it crash for Season 1. When I heard that it was changing hands I went ahead and watched a recap of season 1 and binged this as I do with most things. Everything is about the same or ever so slightly better then S1 in my opinion but honestly its not enough of an upgrade ... that sitting through the entire first season is worth getting here. So I cannot really recommend this one moving forward.

I however am a bit of a completionist and a masochist, and I work a job that I just binge anime for hours while I work, so its actually not that big of a deal that these "fights" are barely animated... literally almost every fight in this season are just 1 punch and over lol. Hell watch the charecters when they are not in an action scene, they barely move. So we are left with a fairly large cast that dont have that much personality to speak of. So lastly we have the world building and over all story board and Plot. And if you guessed it from Season 1 there's just a whole lot of low life people back stabbing one another to literally climb to the top. Its interesting enough I suppose, but literally everything mentioned above could be improved upon greatly.

Honestly the best thing about this show is Rachel and how nonsensical she is, definitely gives off the "try and fix me vibes", I really love to hate her character, but with the lack of animation and characterization sounding her actions its even hard to love her.

I unfortunately will be watching S2-Part 2... so Season 3, I would not recommend anyone to follow me in this journey unless I find there is gold at the end of the tunnel, then I shall come back and edit my review with new found information.

this season turned out to be the same slop as any other fantasy anime.

firstly the style change, I was sad to see S1 style go and it would be fine except the entire season was a slide show, the animation they did do was seriously mid to bad. the fights were super shit and didn't even feel like fights because of this (very important since the anime is about fighting??).

second the plot, I thought the story was about climbing a tower. instead all we got were random tests to "move on to the next floor" except we never got a single frame of any ... floor or any real "climbing of the tower". each episode was some random ass test to move up??, like what??? the first season made it sound like some Sword art online stuff but all we got was this random bullshit. even bad isakais actually show the characters moving through dungeon floors.

3rd kinda on from the last point but there was serious world building in season 1 which could have made for a great and interesting Lore full world but we never really find anything out about the outside world OR THE TOWER which they were in. every one said climbing it was hard but we are yet to see a single monster or basic enemy, but climbing it is still superrr difficult right?

my 4th point is the characters which to me is the most important part. in S1 every character was interesting and had a personality. this season the MC turned into some mega emo kid, it was like they were trying to make him seem so cool and heart broken but instead he was just a substance-less character. he tried to seem all brooding but instead it came across as someone with severe social anxiety who can't communicate to people properly. his haircut was also awful and the entire season his eyes were hidden by bangs which made him look out of place and outright silly all of the time. it didn't even make him look cool when he poorly tired to aura farm with his powers in fights (animation problem too)

all his allies were boring with nothing to them and were mostly winey weak idiots who were super annoying. compared to S1 were we had very engaging characters like the crocodile dude and the "master of martial arts" kid. also I thought only strong people were allowed to climb the tower, so why is there like a 8yr old and some bratty mob boss's kid in the tower.

The rankers were also poorly written, in S1 they were shown to be super powerful elites who climbed this tower we are yet to see. however in this season there are so many of them and they aren't even that powerful.

Additionally shouldn't they be gods with their strength and strong morals as they are the ones keeping an eye on who is in the tower, instead they are very emotional and honestly with some of the dialogue said by them quite stupid to. they used the the regulars as sacrifices to retrieve a flower inside that big sea thing which was disguised as a floor test (um no morals much), also might I remind you its because all the rankers they sent in died so they decided to use regulars to do it, also the whole purpose of the "test" was so the rankers could continue to manipulate a market and profit off of It.

also if you can have any wish granted at the top of the tower it makes it too OP for there to be so many "strong" people like this.

there is like a million things wrong with this entire season and I am very sad to see its potential ruined.
