Okay lets talk about Shojo. This genre of manga & anime was what I started out with and at the time seemed so fresh. But the more Shojo titles I've read over the years the more disappointment I've had.

One of the more well-known of shojo writers, Yu Watase, her manga Ayashi no Ceres was actually the first manga I ever bought. While I liked it at the time, I found something out about this writer soon after, all of her titles follow the same over all plot and have similiar characters. I never even bothered to finish Ayashi no Ceres or Fushigi Yuugi, they became so disappointing halfway through.

I've seen lots of other writers follow her lead, a half-wit or overly naive main character that ends up making half the other character fall for him or her. I am the only one that figured this out?

Rise against the Shojo cliche! Its taking up too much room on the bookstore's shelves.
