Anime & Manga Stack Exchange
Anime Relations: Fullmetal Alchemist, Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, Pokemon, Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Sword Art Online
The Anime & Manga Stack Exchange site is now in public beta. It's a Question and Answer site for anime and manga fans. It's built and run by you as part of the Stack Exchange network of Q&A sites. There are a lot of Stack Exchange sites that are successful, like Stack Overflow (for programmers and programming), Arqade (gaming), Japanese language and usage, or Sci-fi.
You can ask questions about anime or manga, or if you think you know the answer to a question, you can answer it. Joining the site is simple. You can log in by signing up with Stack Exchange, or use any number of connect options like through Google, Facebook, Livejournal, Wordpress, Blogger, AOL, or sites like OpenID, Verisign, ClaimID, or ClickPass. Once you've got an account, you can start by:
By getting votes for asking good questions or giving good answers, helping out by editing or creating tag wikis and excerpts, you earn reputation. The more reputation you earn the more "trusted" you become, allowing you more privileges, like being able to review posts, flag them, vote on whether they should be closed, or chat in the various chat rooms.
There's also a "meta" site which accompanies every Stack Exchange site where discussions about how the place should be run, voting on moderators, etc. occur. The site isn't a forum, so the questions have to be objectively answerable. The site itself is still pretty new so there's a lot of discussion still on what makes a good question and what questions generally aren't cut out for a Stack Exchange site. Things like recommendations for anime (which are inherently subjective) are probably better off for forums like the ones on MAL.
Here's a sample of some of the questions on the site:
Come visit the site and share your knowledge of anime and manga!
