At the beginning of 2009 I read Saya no Uta, my first Visual Novel. I was shocked and appalled at not only the fantastic storytelling, but at the control you have to change the story, which is similar to a "choose your own adventure book". If you've never read one, I HIGHLY recommend you do. Some have explicit sexual scenes, while others don't, either way there are interesting stories to be found here in this genre if you look.
