Whole year instead of the last 2 digits in this listing.

Example:

Please use whole year (2023) instead of the last two digits (23) at this listing, because this may cause major problems in the future where old titles will have the "same" start date as new titles. Also it would be more clear dateformat.

Thank you if you consider it! :)

ah yea, not really a problem at the moment but as anime does span more than a century it's probably for the best.

Will still take a long time before this could become a major problem. A minor problem ... could happen earlier with some ancient anime that exist. Would not be against adding the full year. Maybe an option in the settings to change this would be nice.

While they are at it also maybe adding localized versions/settings - so the non-US people can have a normal date format (first the day, then month, then year / or maybe the style afaik common in asian countries: year-month-day).

Yeah and full year would be far more exact and less confusing which one is the day/month/year..
I ask nothing more than a full year just like on AniDB right now:

Btw. this IS actually a problem already because there are tons of animes from the 1910s-20s that have the "same" date already in MAL list as current 2000s's animes.

AniDB entries has their MAL counterpart if you click on them (see start dates):

Very good suggestion that didn't even cross my mind. I hope this will be addressed promptly.

Anime started in 1917 and production really took off in the early 60s. This is a minor problem at the moment, but it'll become a bigger problem as an increasing number of older anime have their air years match up with modern years. It probably should be dealt with before it becomes too big of an issue.
