Anyone have a clue what store this is meant to represent if it is still in operation? I would assume it isnt since the relative age of the manga itself, however I just picked up the English print and it says in the bonus section for chapter 7 (i think) to come patronize their store if were ever in Atami! Which I would love to given the opportunity, but I cannot seem to find what store in Atami this is meant to be! I found online there is a sort of Pilgrimage map for the manga, where a local store had a map with various places to visit from in the manga, but the only image I can find is too poor quality to really make anything out on it. What I would guess is Kinme Cleaning seems to be around Atami Station, and the entire pilgrimage area is just south of The Atami Beach Line roughly, bordered by R103 on the north, and the Hatsu River the south side, the shore on the west, and the Tokyo-Ueno rail line on the East! |
| Sorry for necroing this post, but I am an amateur geogueser and I love it when mangakas use real life locations for me to find. And it might help someone with the pilgrimage :D Based on the episode 3 of the anime, where Kyu exits the Kinomiya station, goes east, past the double underpass, then takes the right way down past the real restaurant "Shibuyo Atami" on his right, and sees the commotion right away, the location of the Kinme shop is currently a shaved ice shop that goes by @atamishavedice on instagram. Mangaka took some liberties, shrunk the house by one floor, added a tree and removed and moved the houses on the opposite side of the street (for the view). It's also a bit steeper and more dilapidated neighborhood irl. But there are details that are left as they are that confirm the location, like the mesh fence opposite her shop, some signs, or an electric pole(in the manga, funnily, but not in the anime) a bit uphill that are spot on. Btw, Kyu family inn is a real building, located right where it should be, but rotated clockwise. Also, Kyu would actually take the route past Kimne shop home from the Kinomiya station. Wakasagi twins apartment complex is on the road south of the station, and does not exist. Hotel from the ep 6, along with it's skybath, exists, and seems very very nice.   |
