Mita Norifusa, known for Dragon Zakura, Kurokan, and other works, shared his experience. He had not wanted to become a mangaka and had hardly read manga before he was thirty. After his father incurred a debt of 100 million yen, he created a manga for a contest because he needed money. Drawing manga was tough, but it was easier on his mind than constantly lying to wholesalers, telling them to wait a week for payment.
