Driver on PS1. Never saw past the tutorial (Seriously, F' that game)

It's later on but i never got to the first dungeon of Majora's Mask. I couldn't get past the stealth section with the Deku guards

The Getaway for PS2.
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

Not exactly first stage but there was this game where I failed very early.

I really wanted to try RollerCoaster Tycoon, so when Epic gave it away for free (the remastered version of course) I tried playing it but in the tutorial there's a stage I can't solve. But seriously, it's the tutorial. Either I'm this dumb or the game is bugged. I even checked a video but couldn't find out what I was doing wrong.

There was also a Mario game (I don't remember which) for the Gameboy (Color?) where it took me ages to beat the first level. There was a vertical climb then you had to cross a waterfall with falling platforms, and in the rare cases I got there I always died at that point.

Does level 2 count if the game had a shitload of levels? Because Assault Suit Valken is brutal...

I've played some brutal games (including Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, and Super Battletoads), but FUCK Assault Suit Valken. FUCK this game. *inhales angrily* I WAS JUST A KID! WHAT DID YOU WANT FROM ME, KONAMI!?

Most games unless I play on the easiest difficulty or use cheats. I'm comically bad at video games and the only exception is when I'm playing a healer in an MMORPG, but even then it heavily depends on the game

Sonic 06 when I was 6 years old.

I mostly remember my big issue was having a hard time controlling Tails’ flight. I don’t even think I got to the mach speed section

In hindsight though, it was probably a good thing I was spared from the rest of the game, lol.

You can laugh, but it's GTA V.

It's not exactly the first level, but at the beginning of story mode there's a part where my friend and I are going to steal two cars, and I have to follow him in my car, but I'm a TERRIBLE driver. I've tried several times, but if I lose track of him for even a few seconds, the level restarts.

That would definitely have to go to Xena Warrior Princess on the PS2, not because the level was hard or anything like that, but because the game was so bad I couldn't get past the first level out of pure anguish. 🤣

I've always wanted to get into Devil May Cry but I quit the first game on the first stage lol. The gameplay was so repetitive and I don't like hack n slash games anyway.

As a kid, I was too much of a crybaby to to go into the cave past the first deku baba in TLoZ Twilight Princess. Of course now I'm not troubled by the things that troubled me as a kid (Mostly), so I've since beaten the game and kinda fell in love with it.

I'm terrible as shit at older racing games, though. I cannot for the life of me get anywhere in the arcade game Pole Position. I've only ever lost in that game.

@westernphantom

I haven't played them in forever but don't Megaman 1 and 2 have a stage select in the start? You can choose from six stages in Megaman 1 and eight in Megaman 2. There is no true first level iirc.

Are you saying you just quit them before you could beat one boss?

Megaman is a strange answer to this question, unless he lost interest and dropped the games after a few minutes like I did. Battle Network is the only Megaman game I spent any significant time on.

Megaman dipped his toes into a lot of genres (even soccer). I mean to go thru all these someday. This song is sooo good!

@Shishio-kun I beat like 4 bosses on Megaman 2 before I gave up. In Megaman 1, I tried selecting different levels but found them most difficult and gave up very easily. Didn't even beat one boss in the first one.

Bloodborne. Couldn't get past Father Gascoigne, the first unskippable boss, after dozens of tries. By the time I gave up, I was reaching the final phase roughly half the time, but I felt so helpless when the boss went crazy during that phase, and I just couldn't take it anymore. I've never played another souls-like since.

I almost quit Nier Automata during the tutorial. I died once close to the end of the tutorial and found out that the roughly 1-hour long tutorial did not have any save points, making me re-play the whole thing. Rage-quit. Got through it a few days later on my second try, but by that point I already soured on the game and didn't play much longer after that.

I got stuck on the tutorial in my 2nd playthrough. I'll probably never play the 1st Nier since everyone says it has worse gameplay, and I didn't enjoy Automata.

I don't enjoy soulslikes either. It annoys me to see their mechanics infecting metroidvanias, a genre I otherwise do enjoy. I don't believe I ever managed to beat any boss battle in Nine Sols.

Same. I actually did try Dark Souls 1 as well, but again I got stuck on the 2nd or 3rd boss. I probably would've beaten the boss eventually, but I found myself just not having much fun.

I'm not a metroidvania fan, but Hollow Knight looked wonderful, and I had to give up on that after a few hours. I feel sad whenever people rave about Hollow Knight or Silksong.

You should try Aquaria, my favorite. It reminds me a bit of Hollow Knight yet it predates Demon's Souls.

@Lucifrost Wishlisted on Steam, so I don't forget. Thanks

(In case it wasn't clear, I gave up on Hollow Knight not because it's a bad metroidvania, but because it was just too damn hard and stressful. I'll assume Aquaria isn't that difficult)

While I think Hollow Knight is casual friendly, there is no denying that Aquaria is the easier game. Thanks to the ability to cook anywhere, anytime, struggling players can quickly fill their inventory with healing items.

@perseii tbh, the souls games kinda suck Dx many people have the same problem but I fault the game's design more for being well boring and unengaging.

I play some of the Souls games including Bloodborne for a few hours, then I quit. The combat is boring and repetitive. No story either to keep you engage. The fans say you glean the story through the gameplay but it's too slow and when I look up the full story of these games on wikis, it's insanely lame.
