Does Lucky Star get better later on?

To be clear, I'm not a first timer watcher or anything. Lucky Star is one of my favorites, and I watched it twice. However, I've noticed that the first 4 episodes are the lowest rated episodes of Lucky Star.

The fact that the first 4 episodes are the lowest rated raised a flag for me because Yutaka Yamamote directed these episodes before being replaced by Yasuhiro Takemoto.
Personally, I was reluctant to call the first four episodes worse, but I've realized that I appreciated the later episode much more than the first four.
What do you guys think? Did it get better, or is the rise in score just due to people who disliked the show dropping it?

I would say that in the first 4 episodes the conversations between characters are really naturalistic and the comedy tends to be on the dry side.
When the new director takes over, the show, at least to me became more conventionaly funny and entertaining and more similiar in tone to something like Dragon Maid.
Im also not saying that the show did a complete 180 and completely disregarded the tone and pacing of these episodes, but the change is definitely noticable in the long run.
There is also the fact, that slice of life shows generally get beter the longer they go, because you have more time to get attached to all the characters

I’m kind of indecisive because I have watched it years ago, I think I have an 8 for it (which is still pretty good) but I enjoyed Umaru-Chan and Pop Team Epic a bit more. But still a good anime regardless

I've watched it around the time it came out but to this day I still enjoy it but I will say that it seems dated but still really love it for the references and the height of what oktaku culture was at the time

I feel it could do with new people trying the show and dropping when the style isn’t for them. I’ve had friends not liking the first episode and saying it’s hard to follow but then liking it later on. Could also have to do with the director change as another user said.

The show’s pretty slow, only reason I actually finished it was because I watched it very casually, could not imagine binging it.

Id say for the first few episodes the comedy is kinda bleh but after that it gets a lot better!

i mean the cast gets bigger and bigger throughout but it pretty much follows the same formula

I don’t know what do you mean with “does it get better?” it is like saying “will i like it?”
I don’t know if you will like it…
I personally think Lucky Star is useless but also it’s well done and i like it

I found it easier to watch later on, but I like dry humour...so...🤷🏻‍♀️
I find the humour stays pretty dry but I found that it got more relatable as episodes went on. I'd say to try it out and if you like it, you like it and if you don't then drop it and try something else. It appears on the top 100 anime poster that I have (which I believe is from 2018 or 2019) so enough people must have really liked it for it to go on there.

I just finished re-watching the show yesterday, and to me, the first 4 episodes are genuinely the worst ones from the series, they're not bad, but they're just fine, 6/10 compared to the rest of the series which is a 7/10 to me, not to mention that the best moments direction-wise happens in the second half of the anime, Hiiragi fake confession and Konata mom's scene for example
