Kadokawa held a wordless manga contest, receiving 1,126 entries from around the world. Behind the event was a shortage of mangaka available to adapt light novels into manga, despite the abundance of original light novel content. However, the submitted works turned out to be of very high quality, making it a pleasant surprise, according to the editor-in-chief.
