I am getting kind of pissed at the mangaka for killing off minor characters just for cheap feels. No major character dies even after going through much more. Gintoki will not even have bandages after taking those bullets but Kyoujiro dies from a single gunshot wound?! Fuck me, right.

I always preferred Gintama for its comedy. Welp, I might have to start skipping this kind of arcs from now on.

Decent mini arc, I didn't like the first episode cause the comedy was flat and the pace felt to slow. This episode was an improvement despite being cliche. I feel like this serious arc came to soon though. Gintama works well when the serious arcs are spread up, and its only been a couple of episodes since the Shinsengumi crisis finished.

That was a perfect story but damn why all these guys gonna die I have seen so many deaths in Gintama this anime had it fair share with it.

“Bad guys” in Gintama are never what they seem and I love it, this was a pretty good arc even though it was only two episodes.

Gintoki's got a heart of gold. I wouldn't have helped that yakuza dude one bit.

Ehm, I liked the first one better, this one... I don't know. It got good after the first half. Overall, OK.

This was a cool arc, I liked the idea of the Guardian Dog and the loyalty behind it.
But there's just one thing that I absolutely hated, at the beginning of this episode there was an anime original part with Shinpachi and Kagura, gintama filler are usually quite nice... but this was an exception since it did the unforgivable, it changed their characters, and it didn't really add much.
The usual Kagura and Shinpachi wouldn't have given up on a lead to Gintoki just because they were threatened by a yakuza, Kagura would have started a war with the yakuza till she could find Gintoki. While Shinpachi is more reasonable, I think that he would have fought them as well since this is a matter related to Gintoki.
I understand that the entire idea of that part was so that they would say that Gintoki is their family, and use up the extra time, but still I dislike how it treated their characters.

This is cruel, just too cruel. Those two gave him purpose, purpose at a very critical time. The son commit suicide, and the guy bore with it the entire time...yet ended up dying nonetheless. Strong mini-arc, very strong.

That was kinda pretty deep. Really enjoyed this episode and how it ties this while Yakuza/kyoshiro storyline. I really liked the ending when he was at the grave.

Wow i thought Gin got alive just because of just lame plot armor guess im wrong lmao

So the yakuza guy intentionally didnt killed her and its not poison that he drink.

That was unexpected and good writing.

I liked this episode.

Yeah the laughs anbd comedy are great but every so often I like pure dark and depressed.

Kind of expected Shinpachi and Kagura to turn up with the missing son who had been living the high life elsewhere but I don't mind the dark turn it took

I thought this was a pretty heartwarming episode. Could care less about the action or comedy. But how did Gintoki survive that fall into the river? I'll give this episode a 4/5.

Yeah this just felt like more boring filler, instead they should focus on the main cast than 1 ep characters. I couldn't care less about this

That must have been the thickest plot armor I've ever seen, getting poisoned and shot twice and just appear healthy without any explanation whatsoever. In addition to that the story did not make any sense, why would they go through the effort of trying to kill Gintoki and open the warehouse to him if they simply could've lied for one more night and be done with it? Stupid arc.

Rewatching this, now I remember why do I love this arc so much. It got the things that I like having in anime.
My 2nd fav mini arc, if not can rival Mitsuba arc for my no 1 fav mini arc T^T

Didn't really explain how Gin still lives though lol.

Samurai does not easily and besides, Gintoki's strong soul won't allow it ;)
Well, logically the shot that both Gintoki and Kyojiro took may be at the same area around the stomach but the bullet that hit Gintoki could be at an area that is not lethal

- NOT your usual shounen anime
- Pure comedy? DEAD WRONG
- Treat Gintama as SoL/weekly sitcom especially earlier seasons
- Ep 1 & 2 are for manga readers
- BIG patience for its 'slow' start

So Gintoki can tank a gut shot, but not the episodic character. Was it because Gintoki had something left to protect and Nakamyra didn't? Or just bad writing.

I figured out that Kyojiro didn't actually kill him, but I didn't expect suicide. The whole episode was rather serious and I quite liked it. Gin's appearance was awesome. The fight scenes were really cool. And man, RIP Kyojiro.

Gintoki got shot in the hand, poisoned, then still fought off a bunch of criminals, then got shot in the chest and had fallen into the river. Two gunshots, non-functional hand, poisoning and enemies on his tail... yet he disappears and appears again a bit later like nothing really happened, in perfect health. The biggest plot armor case in Gintama, so far
