| @Lucifrost Guess I never really thought about watching the Kirby anime, it seems kind of difficult to find. Not sure I'd enjoy it like my kid self would, do you think its worth seeking out? |

| @Zayvex I only got to experience the 2.8 remix of Kingdom Hearts, but I did get the PS2 version just need to play it. Unfortunately played through half the 2.8 remix without realizing how to level up the fighting forms. Can't wait to see the differences between the two games. What JRPGs have you gotten into because of Kingdom Hearts 2? |

| @Slayers363 You might enjoy an episode or 2, but the whole thing isn't worth it if you're not into long-running kids anime. Unico has a similar vibe, and is less of an investment with a mere 2 movies. https://xss.now.cc/anime/2427/Unico https://xss.now.cc/anime/2429/Unico__Mahou_no_Shima_e |

| My most played game is Rainbow Six: Siege, but it is by far not my favorite videogame. I just spend way too much time playing it in High School. I would probably say my favorite game is Total War: Rome 2. I have tried many other Total War games, but I always find myself coming back to Rome 2 because the way it works is just so much better to me. The combat is fantastic, and taking over the world each time is so much fun. I also just love the way each campaign feels different because of the AI. I'm not really a history nerd or anything, but something about this game just keeps me coming back to it to play another campaign. |

Metropolismania looked like animal crossing at first glance, but it reminded me of the resort builder in one of the Yakuza games. I'm surprised its a PS2 game and not a PC one. Wow EB Games what a trip back to the past, I don't think they did too well in the US but I preferred them over Gamestop. You seem to like the chill/cozy games, wish I had more of them myself.

The residents also have complaints that you have to solve by placing the type of building they need near them. In the first game in each stage there is a story i.e in one there are some robberies in another there is a cult that forms. In the second game it has a more "anime" artstyle and has some actual Japanese companies like Yoshinoya and Uni Qlo. EB Games is our Gamestop here in Australia. There still are alot of cozy games but they are all on steam and in early access these days. Still waiting on Rare for a Viva Pinata 3 |

You may hate me for this forum brother Shish, but I actually have a little bit of a chip on my shoulders when it comes to AVGN's Castlevania videos. Don't get me wrong they are of good quality. However due to him talking negatively about Castlevania 64 it seems like more people have come to hate the game. They already were hating on it to begin with, but it just made it a whole lot worse. Especially since he was wrong about the nitro section of the game, all you have to do is simply hit the C right button in order to put the items in the correct place. I'm sure he knew this, and I know his videos are solely for entertainment, but when it came to the Castlevania 64 hatred, it only got worse after that video. T_T

I didn't think about that until now! XD sadly it did ruin the reps of those games even more although they were already in the tank at that point anyways- most early 3D platform games got trashed hard. The same thing was done to Hydlide on NES, a bad game but not as bas as he made it out to be, and some others haha. Street Fighter Alpha 2 on SNES also got a lot of hate on other channels even though it was very playable and a miracle of a game lol. The bright side is these games get exposure and ppl trying them again. Then they get defended, and more people learn about them. In the end it actually helps since everyone loves NES TMNT now despite all its flaws.. although that game is still pretty bad Dx |

| @Shishio-kun You know what's funny come to think of it? When I decided to finally track down another physical copy of this game back in like 2014 or so, because of all the negativity it had I was able to snag Castlevania 64 for $6 USD. I guess that's a plus right? XD |

| @carsonxl I've only played Medieval Total War Viking Invasion, and one of my friends that likes Total War Rome 2 would always say they weren't even comparable games. Rome must of done some things Viking Invasion didn't do. Not that its the same thing but Warhammer 40k Total War was announced at the game awards, not really a Warhammer person but I don't know of any other Total Wars that involve space. |

| Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (or Puyo Puyo 2 depending on the region/console). It's simple and relaxing but it's also very challenging to master it. It was one game that I worked hard at the get to grips with and eventually beat on the MegaDrive when I was young. Now I can usually beat it in one sitting (not without dying though). I also beat Puyo Puyo 2 on the Saturn on my first play through when I imported the game. |

| I don't really have an absolute favorite because I have a bunch of favorite games. The ones I keep going back to from time-to-time is either Super Mario Sunshine, Sonic Heroes, or Sonic Adventure on the gamecube. Super Mario Sunshine takes place on an island resort, and it does feel relaxing to just walk around the main world hub and different stage levels. Music is very relaxing too. For the Sonic games, I like playing different characters and running through the stages. Plus for Sonic Adventure, the chao garden is neat too since I can take care of little creatures and level up their stats. |

| @Mmuunn Never could get into any Mario games but Sunshine was definitely the most Unique take on a Mario game. Been awhile since I played a game that had a fun/relaxing hub world, don't get see that very often anymore. Used to have Sonic Heroes on the PS2 and when I had friends over it was the only game they wanted to play. Is that the same Sonic Adventure that started on the Dreamcast? Think I played that at the video rental store where they had those demo kiosks. That chao garden sounds like a mini Pokemon game in Sonic. Thanks for posting your three favorites you keep going back to. |

| An absolute favourite would be Mass Effect 2 (well the whole trilogy but 2 especially),albeit there are other games I'd put on that list. 1.Mass Effect (1/2/3)-2 was my introduction as I stumbled onto it by accident,as an 11 year old I didn't have much of an idea what I was doing but I loved it,the atmosphere, the story & dialogue, most of the characters (especially Legion) and that final mission back then really stuck with me,the alternative ending with Morinth also isn't one to look past.Since 2010 I've replayed it more than 30 times, with ME1 around 27 ~ and ME3...3 times.ME1 as a space-opera is absolutely astonishing,I mean there is a reason you spend 2 hrs of the game in the Citadel, the whole thing really reflects just how massive it is,something that only the first itteration captures, coupled with how the story unfolds,it's not just another "saving the world".Here I have to give big props to two of the best antagonists in gaming,Sovereign & Saren still stand tall all these years later. As for the only thing it doesn't have going for it is the gameplay, mostly the shooting, its not horrid or something but its clear Bioware were more leaning into the RPG direction rather than the TPS,which isn't really a problem (until a krogan or a geth charges you, then you can see the light really quick x) ).The ending itself is beyond amazing, especially the OST.ME2 is more self-contained,and for the better, its darker atmosphere, pacing, dialogue, characters and choices hit closer to home than the larger than life previous iterration. As for 3...Well let's just say there are too many problems, and while the most obvious one is the ending, there are a lot of smaller ones that just are a detriment to the experience (for example the squad mates).Andromeda and anything that may come after it doesn't exist,it's just a fever dream. 2.COD:MW & MW2 (OG)-The first 2 shooters that really got me feeling like a soldier,it pushed so many boundries and with such perfect execution that there was never a dull moment or a "I've seen this before in..." and I guess as a player it really put you in the trenches compared to most other shooters on the market even in the military category. 3.Halo:CE & 2- Some of my first games growing up,man I love them to death, and this isn't just nostalgia,I can write paragraphs about them...and also one of the few I've replayed recently, see I've never played on anything but a PC,so when Halo 3 was left as an Xbox Exclusive (which yeah I get why but always rubbed me the wrong way),I waited for MCC to come to PC and then some problems got in the way...so all in all I got to play the whole collection in 2021~,man do those 2 still stand above the rest, sure I like 3,I love 4 despite how ppl feel about it and Reach was a work of passion, but you just can't beat that feeling of Combat Evolved. 4.Spec Ops:The Line-When choices come back to haunt you,you aren't a killing machine, there are no deus ex machinas, just you and your decisions, none of which are easy,if there was ever a relatable military shooter, this would be it,I don't want to go into detail to not spoil for anyone who wants to play it (assuming anyone even reads this),so I will leave it like so. 5.Deus Ex:HR-Everything about it,maybe outside of the gameplay (since I am not a big fan of stealth personally),but the rest...It's a masterpiece, plain and simple. 6.GTA IV-This one is the only GTA I can say I truly enjoyed, not just because the story hits closer to home, but the gray atmos, the characters are gritty and much more believable than in previous or upcoming itterations. There are so many memories with it that I can't really even sort them properly. It was also a giant leap mechanically and visually from SA,in a good way, unlike newer games. 7.Grid 2- Honourable mention, but if there is a racing game that made me want to master it fully, and one that very well mirrors real life racing and car behaviour this would be the one,I've played quite a few but none have given me the adrenaline rush that Grid 2 does, hitting the perfect corner, mastering your favourite cars to know just how much you can push it and where...just an exquisite piece of work. |

Papers Please, nice to see some indie games getting the love they deserve. Half-Life 2, are you holding out hope for a third entry? Never had the opportunity to try Half-Life 2 or 1, but from what I know it seems to be a cult classic. | @_l0gic Was Twilight Princess your first introduction to Zelda or is it just your favorite? Is the Wii version different to the Gamecube one, aside from the controllers? I only played the GC version. Good pick. Morrowind, never experienced this game but I know its a cult classic; only played Skyrim myself. Think they use some of the same sound effects as Diablo 1 or well the late 90s early 2000s fantasy sound effects at the time. Some good Honorable mentions Dark Souls and Elden ring may not be my type of games but I know they are good and I respect them. Think the first Dark Souls was free for a time on Xbox Live Gold, I only got to the first boss. My friend got me Dark Souls 3 on PC, but that game was more than I could handle it also crashed a lot maybe it was better for consoles. Witcher huh, only played Geralt as a guest character in Soul Calibur 6. So what do you despise about this Ciri character? Ah nice Kenshi I believe another person posted it on this thread, game looks like a wild madhouse of insanity fun good pick. I'd pick Falco over Fox guy, more of a Kirby player (I think kirby players are frowned upon) I could never beat my friends in Smash Bros Melee. Nice choices, thanks for sharing |

| @Morningstar991 Mass Effect series, never played it but with what you said about the OST makes me want to at least give it a listen. Nothing like finding an awesome game accidentally. Very few games truly get proper atmosphere and meaningful dialogue. That's funny you played ME3 3 times, really unfortunate the third game didn't measure up to its legacy. Had the same experience with Diablo 3. Now that I've given it some thought think the combat is what may have repelled me from the series, though I had a friend on XBL was always telling me its still good. Though I do love game changing decision type games like Fable, maybe I would of loved Mass Effect. What would you change about ME3, or the non-existent fever dream? Okay you played the best COD games, after those two its well downhill from there. MW1 was the first one I played, remember the MP5 being very satisfying to shoot. MW2 the first three months or so when this came out was the most enjoyable COD experience I've had. Think I know of that feeling of being in the trenches, BF3 gave me that feel for well a dozen games or so lol. Ah man you really missed out on the Halo 3 custom game golden era, getting to play it 2021 is wild. Version exclusives are a real pain to deal with, but hey it beats region locking (whoever made this a thing needs to suffer in some way). 4 was mediocre but I feel Reach is the fourth entry in my Halo journey. Halo 2 was awesome, was obsessed with it after watching my cousin play it. Great choice. So Spec Ops: The Line is good enough you'll avoid spoilers, maybe give it a try depending on how easily obtainable it is. Deus Ex:HR, aside from hearing the term deus ex machina don't know anything about the series. However I do like the futuristic prosthetic limbs, they look pretty cool. Must of had a real good experience with this game to give it masterpiece status. GTA IV was the only GTA game I finished, spent most of my time goofing off and doing stupid stuff with friends. Like jumping off buildings into helicopter blades and launching, you ever try the car launching swing set glitch? Oh do you have a favorite radio station in IV? Liberty Rock radio was my favorite, they had all the cool songs in my opinion. Grid 2 sounds like a gem, kind of like Need for Speed High Stakes that someone else mentioned on this thread. I could never get into real life style racing games, tried a WRC game and wow I don't know jack about cars. Anyways thanks for sharing read it all, also seems like you started with PC (master race) not very common. |

The Wii version is mirrored and Link is right handed.
| @Lucifrost Woah woah woah mirrored seriously? Wish that was an option in a lot of games, do a replay mirrored. Think Jak 2-3 and Ratchet and Clank & few other games had this as an unlockable feature. |

| @Slayers363 ME1's OST (especially the ending song is worth the listen even if you don't plan to play it),the other 2 while having good soundtracks don't really come as close.True on the atmosphere,it's something that I heavily look for in games, dialogue in 1 & 2 and the choices are very good,3 has like 2 interesting choices and the rest are bland and predictable. The combat is very good in 2&3,in 1 it's clunky but not S.T.A.L.K.E.R. level of bs or anything like that :D.In ME3 I would change...well most everything, from the opening all the way to the ending,to start with I would give the player a choice as to who to ally with,in retrospect it sounds easy but its understandable why they didn't especially since they had 2 years to make the damn game (thanks EA...as usual),an RPG imo should take 4-5 years to make (this is with an asterisk as the writers themselves have said multiple times that they had no real idea on how to end the trilogy),so even if they were given 10 years that wouldn't have changed, what would have was more polish, some cut-content would have made it in,better pacing and even if the story was 1:1 as what we got it would have flowed better, maybe with some more nuance. So outside of the factions, the easier thing to change would be squadmates, yes some beloved ones are still here but for example my boy Legion got done dirty,he does get a great ending but man I wanted to have him around...even if it was for 1 mission.Another one is and this is a major spoiler so caution In ME1 you fight a Reaper without even knowing what it is,it just looks like a cool ship, going down the line do you realize the gravity of the situation and just how impossible it is.In ME2,a different Reaper controlls the collectors to build a humanoid-like Reaper in the hopes it would be a more effective weapon. The Reapers are meant to be this unstoppable intergalactic force that have destroyed the biological parts of the universe over and over again,in 3 ? They swarm the galaxy so it should be gg right ? Well no.You are given such stupid choices in the end that in retrospect I can only laugh. It just dumbs down the danger and spectacle of it to such a massive degree.Another one is that you are fighting Cerberus,or more specifically there is a certain cyber ninja that keeps appearing at key points in the story to stop you,and this creates a dissonance, not only is he flat and boring as a character, but in game you are kicking his ass,but in the cutscene you are the one getting your ass handed to you, again ruins the immersion. I played...all but COD3 and the newer Black Ops ones, the last one I played was the remake MWIII with babyfaced Makarov (God kill me).I wouldn't call it fully downhill,MW3 was underwelming true,so were BO3-4,but AW & IF were good for me despite what most ppl say...after that the reboot of MW was ok I did have some genuine enjoyment playing on realism (maybe that was exhasterbauted with building a new PC in 2022 after 13 years and just diving headfirst) and while it doesn't measure up to the OG it's not terrible, multi was also kinda fun.MWII...yeeeeahh it's downhill.BF3 was very good too yeah,I'd even go as far back as 1942 and 2042 those were pretty good in their own right. Region-locking shouldn't be allowed...I mean it can be bypassed but its existence is absolute bullshit (like for example Codemasters games not being sold to RU and all ROW cuz of the war with UA),why are we mixing politics and conflicts with gaming for the average joe,I doubt someone getting shelled has time or interest to drive a Pagani....But yeah even now we are still getting a divide with exclusivity and a greater divide with the Steam Machine, hardware being innacessable or costing a kidney for a minor upgrade, but I don't wanna go all doomer in the thread so back to Halo.Yeah I mean I missed out on the multi..but I don't really care that much for it (granted I did love watching all those vids on YT as a kid),the singleplayer was where it was at and yeah for many years I just tried to not remember I can't play it...It didn't really live up to what I was expecting,ODST was kinda mid,Halo 4 I know a lot of ppl don't like it and I can see why, from some strange gameplay decisions especially but I did enjoy more personal involvement with Cortana, the fear of losing her was only overshadowed by The Arbiter in Halo 2 for me.Reach was really a product of love, from beginning to end ). Spec Ops sadly got delisted, not that you can't get it in other ways but yeah,it's not so straightforward nowadays with yk all the time exclusive, enforcing copyright etc etc. However I can absolutely say...you will love it and it will break you. The OG was more RPG so I skipped it,Invisible War is well :v..HR however gets back on track,I did,due to the the afformentioned atmosphere, story, boss fights and just general feeling, but then again I am sucker for cyberpunk. Same only GTA campaign I finished...4 times ).The car launching was damn fun,but even simply driving in that game was so fun,the mechanics really clicked, same for the shooting, even down to the walking,it has a..."presence" (?).Vladivostok FM my beloved,so many great songs there, but Liberty was nice too,did you know you could upload your own music in the game ? ))) Had a 600+ song folder on my 2-4th playtroughs :D Grid and NFS aren't like WRC dw,they don't try to simulate car behaviour as closely, the main difference between the 3 is:NFS is an arcade, most physics, dmg etc don't apply,a lot of the older titles I still adore, can't really say anything good past 2013 tho... :D,Grid are a simcade,so they have some forgiving elements (same with Dirt 3-4) heavily recommended albeit delisted but keys are cheap (and the high-seas are free x) ).In a simcade the cars somewhat mirror irl car behaviour, conditions, damage etc,but that depends also on entry from entry,CM dropped the ball after Grid 2 in that series and after Dirt 4 in that one.As for WRC its a sim,it's rough getting used to it,tunning is a pain in the ass especially if you are switching cars frequently so yeah I totally get that if you aren't into car stuff that being a massive turn off. I did,but where I am from PC was and still is the most dominant platform,I mean my first time touching a keyboard was around 2001 when I was 2~ yrs old, hell if I know what I was doing,it was also a work PC for my mother so like yeeeahh,in 2004 was the first time we got a home PC (and tbh she was the gamer in the family, the one that got me into it,CS 1.6,Quake II,DOOM,Serious Sam,NFS:U2,Return To Castle WF were all from her),then Half-Life 2 came out and the rest is history...to this day I still don't know how to use a controller :D. I'd say it depends where you are from,in the balkans we are predominantly a PC community, hell still have PC café's ) |

| @Shishio-kun Much as I love all the "big" moments in Papers Please, it's precisely "small" stuff like this that made me love this game, honestly. I mean, sure, I love the EZIC ending and accidentally giving the pedo's documents to the grieving father was great (man, I love the newspaper the next day not telling you directly what happened yet making it VERY clear what you allowed to ensue, lmao), but it's all the smaller, less significant(?) flavour text that really sells it for me. I mean, some of the stuff people you reject tell you HURTS. @Slayers363 Indeed it is! Do yourself a favour and play it blind sometime, honestly - I've witnessed three different people in my life playing it blind, trust me when I say it's worth it. The original game is still freeware and has some excellent translations (the English one is obviously THE best, but I can also vouch for the Polish one being pretty neat). Not to mention I keep returning to its OST. Honestly, I'm not a believer in HL3 happening as an actual installment. I fully believe we'll get a continuation/conclusion to the main character's storyline eventually, but it'll be called something like "Half-Life: Xen" or some clever pun on three without actually calling it HL3. Like, I dunno, Half Life Freeman or something. And, sadly, it certainly won't be a normal Source game like the Episodes before it. Probably a Source 2 thing, I'd assume. HL1 and HL2 both go for dirt cheap during Steam Sales, so I highly recommend them! Especially now that you get the Episodes by default when purchasing HL2. I can also vouch for Opposing Force, it's pretty much everything I liked about HL1 but better (including a much more fun final boss encounter). Also, in HL2, I was enchanted by just how "right" they get the architecture. A lot of American media set in central/eastern/southern Europe tends to just kinda make it a weird mix between Russia and Germany, so it felt kinda mindblowing to walk through the city (and later Ravenholm) during my first playthrough and think "wait a sec, this looks just like where I live/villages I've been to!". So many places where I just sat for a few minutes to admire the scenery. I think there's still MCEdit or Worldedit? I never remember what was it that I used back in ~2013. Maybe you can get it running sometime. As for my own builds, I just kinda always end up building dystopian gray city block complexes, for the lack of a better term (lol), so I have a bunch of those. Here are some examples. Oh, and one time I did this Kagamine Rin pixel art based off someone's Perler art. |

| @Shishio-kun YEAH. Man, stuff like that caught me so off guard during my first playthrough. That's another reason this game's great! It actually surprises you with stuff like this rather than just being like, oh yeah, there's gonna be a bomb here or there, watch out!!! Oh, and of catching me off guard speaking, I like how you can choose not to shoot anyone for EZIC. I initially thought there'd be some sort of trite underlying commentary about changes needing sacrifices, so I was really happy that I could choose to just. Not do that. (No regrets over helping the grieving father, though) |

| @CaptainZaimon Like the dystopian minecraft stuff, are these pictures of a forever world? I always have to settle on making mini versions of things other wise I'd be spending days on 1% of an actual creation. Think I'll be adding OFF to the wishlist, been awhile since I've done a pixel style game. A game that does accurate architecture sounds cool, but your right a lot American media usually doesn't care about architectural accuracy especially medieval architecture. American movie makers always make the medieval era look extremely primitive compared to reality. |

| @Slayers363 Ah, nope, just random servers I played on over the years. I highly recommend playing the original freeware version of OFF before the remake on Steam, honestly. Especially given the remake is like 99% Toby Fox music (which I hate personally and it strips away any and all vibes the original OST had for the sake of dumb "REMEMBER THIS TRACK FROM UNDERTALE?!" references, but oh well, dude has fans and who am I to disrespect them...sighhhhhhhhhhhh) and what little new content it has largely hinges on you already knowing how the original game works (hint: in the original, go back to every area after you clear it) |

| Playing World of Warcraft has always been a game I can go back to and love so much - I just dislike paying a subscription BUT non-subscription based game then I really enjoy Saints Row! Have spent a good amount of time in that game and honestly feels endless. Later on the franchise got bit worse imo so I stick to the early ones |

| @H1GHLANDER360 Never played this game before but from what I'm seeing the AI looks really fun to fight against. By the way nice bandicoot picture, and wow high affinity. Thank you for sharing. |

Have you thought of watching the Kirby anime?

CHILLY!! ;_; one of the saddest anime scenes ever.. Both the dub and sub are very fun, in terms of enjoyment it's an underrated anime. Been meaning to see it all in full for a long time, I missed some episodes but been rewatching lately in both languages |

| @Abbynub Yeah subscription games shouldn't be a thing in my opinion, for some reason WOW was the only Blizzard game I could never get into but I remember the MR. T commercial. Think your the second person on this thread that picked Saints Row, never played it myself how does it compare to GTA? Noticed you like Slipknot I like the Get this or Die song. Ever see the Give thanks or Die parody? thanks for sharing your favorites. |

| @Slayers363 The AI is very dynamic, which adds tons of replay value. Also, thank you!!! I was browsing different pictures of Japanese Crash Bandicoot. Just to update things. |

| @Lucifrost OK added! It might be time to look at what 4kids dubs did right https://youtu.be/w8dCRvPHw7U?si=zncDnEjT5fUHz0Ke&t=188 "We sent you this monster to you for free, majesty!" 😛 Shots like this have a lot of charm in the Kirby anime. Also, I think the CGI-ish visuals are a treat. |

| @Slayers363 Honestly especially with WoW you spend 50-60 to buy the new expac and then have to pay 10 monthly?? its daylight ROBBERY but I love WoW so I know ill end up paying it. Only other Blizzard game I've gotten into is Overwatch, their COD game on their launcher is okay too but not something i'd play. What other blizzard games have you played? OHH really omg, I've never played GTA so I can't actually tell how they compare but Saints Row seems to have more goofy funny elements but then again GTA might have them too. I prob got saints row over gta for cost... not sure but its really good! I'd at least recc 1&2 , 3 was okay then 44&5 were like letdowns. OH that sound is a headbanger i love it!! can imagine the moshpits to that, I hadn't seen that parody until you mentioned it but I watched and damn that turkey was not happy. |

Guess Blizzard was more greedy than I realized, you buy the expansions and still pay a subscription that's insane. |

Abbynub said: but I love WoW so I know ill end up paying it. I love little moments like this in WoW (mine). 😁 The sky is all dark from the Void Totem I planted nearby and you can still hear it a bit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhT3NSXxehs Definitely many of my favorite gaming moments of all time were in the PVP for this game. I think the sub is worth it to maintain the quality of the game but a lot more of the experiences should be streamlined together to make up for the dwindling playerbase. I play for a few months every year! |
