Bloody Hell, being a Fate fan for almost 20 years, the HYPE levels that this franchise can still reach are unbelievable!

A-1 Style with Sawano music on top, chef kiss!

Cool to see some of Enkidu and Richard's attacks being based on FGO animation!

Also, Richard being a total Artoria simp, ONE OF US!

Is it me or did the animation quality change from good to bad to good and so on all episode?
@SchIachsahne Your IQ would need to be so incredibly low and understanding of animation nuances would have to be equally that lukewarm to come to this conclusion so, yes, it's probably just you.

It’s kinda wild that such a beautiful looking fight wasn’t even a serious one lol, but hey I absolutely love that quality, this entire show so far is just oozing with quality, the wait was tough but it’s proving to have been very worth it. But yeah Richard versus Enkidu man, I wouldn’t say it was one of the best fights in the series but it certainly was visually at least, that and it was a great showcase of Richard’s abilities. So the fact he was so obsessed with King Arthur and named many things Excalibur, anything he picks up can be Excalibur? That is pretty insane, that stick might be one of the most legendary sticks to ever live because of that lol. And it may not have been a super serious fight, but it did result in an alliance with Enkidu and Richard, as well as Fake Assassin who showed up randomly, I’m glad they banded together to take on the true threats before carrying on with the Holy Grail War because I’d say it’s necessary.

And there was some interesting stuff with Ayaka in this one, we didn’t get a lot of details but she’s somehow related to that red riding hood girl horror story, pretty cool that’s apparently a reference to one of the old VNs too which I learned from this thread, I may be a Fate fan but I haven’t consumed everything there is of the series lol. I also liked Ayaka’s moments with Richard, it’s nice that they came to an understanding with Ayaka realizing she’s taking things the wrong way, I can definitely understand why she’s been so persistent in resisting being part of this war and Richard’s master up to this point, but yeah it’s good to see this development for her.

Also a little thing I thought of during this scene

Amazing sakuga on display this episode. I love Enkidu, and the dog as his master is so appropriate. I wonder if students get excited about reading the Epic of Gilgamesh and Enkidu these days... I vaguely remember it.

Really enjoyed Enkidu and Richard's fight !

One lightly spoilery question for Fate lore keeper though, when Enkidu referes to the black curse and the mud,

Sometimes the Fate metaphors kinda go over my head haha.
@MonsieurPapillon If by Pale Rider you mean Fake Rider (Tsubaki's servant), then yes.

He talks about a black malediction which is a direct reference to Fake Rider (also a dark apparance, spread a disease/malediction). He also already talked about him in EP0, when fighting Gil, Fake Rider went to investigate, Enkidu feels him arriving and describe him as something he doesn't like.

And for the mud, it is also to Alcides/Grail's mud, same color and when know it was used when invoking Alcides to corrupt him and make him a sort of Avanger. This one is definitely a danger for the Grail.

No idea why the Fake Rider would be dangerous to the Grail but considering that the invocation are unpredictable, he may be of the same type as Angra Mainyu (the Avenger servant that corrupted the Grail during the 3rd War).

@Vendun bc it isn't a heroic spirit,
and can spread onto anything, the grail included. if we're talking about most dangerous servants in the war, its at the top of the list.

conveniently, there's a servant in the war with the ability to apply it onto anything.

As someone who read the manga before this, the anime is pretty much caught up to it with this episode, unless I missed an update. So from here on out, it will be new territory for me. I might as well drop the manga now. Even if it continues, Fate manga are notoriously slow to release, so I doubt it will pass the anime by the time season 2 is announced, let alone airs.

I can't believe the commentators. Best episode?! Seriously?!
There's a huge gap between episode 6 and the previous ones! What's wrong with the animation?! Have you even seen good sakuga animation? Just compare the end of the previous episode and the scene with Sigma jumping out of the window in this episode. The quality has dropped sharply!
The pace of the narrative has accelerated and is very choppy, what are they rushing for?! And oh my god, they cut out the scene with the transformation into loli-Jack in the hospital, that was such a golden reference! There are a lot of cuts in general, which is not good.
I have very mixed feelings((((

oh my god. episode of the year and might be the best fate episode i've ever seen, and the best excalibur as well. not just the action scenes, it's mindblowing how good they make the exposition scenes too, it's always so interesting. i had to pause and rewind so many scenes. even the soundtrack choice during the lionheart and enkidu enteractions, everything about this was a masterpiece. but if i had to nitpick, the red riding hood story went by too quick. almost didn't have the same impact from the novel because of that. otherwise though, the directing was beautiful. in classic narita fashion, i loved how this episode circled back to assassin entering the mansion in the last episode. honestly, this fate is reminding me why i love anime.

Upon rewatch I also gotta say, the direction, i.e. many shots and angles of this episode were so nice. Coming out from the clock, the Richard stage play imagery, the reflections in character's eyes or weapons instead of direct shots. Really good stuff.

That was the worst episode of anime that I've managed to sit through in memory.

Random disjointed scenes. Random extreme statements with no context given.

Obviously, there is an insane amount of effort put into the animation... but absolutely everything else about this episode in particular is absolute chaotic nonsense. Like, beyond just pacing problems (which are considerable). It's just a general lack of any sort of coherent plot, character development (the "MC" girl is still just some mystery girl that's sulky, mean, and still fully amnesiac apparently?).

Surely I'm not the only person who sees this?

Mod Edit: Removed trolling.
@the_muffin_man99
no clue why people are acting like you said some outrageous rubbish, I heavily dislike Ayaka. For how long is she going to whimper about her role rather than look at the other servants and learn? It's like EP 6. Even the wolf has a stronger motive than her and would have a better monologue just barking. She complains about the trial yet even refuses to use her command spell to stop Richard. She never says or does anything interesting. Why are we focusing on her so much? It's like watching Richard speak to a log when we could be focusing on another servant give a monologue.

Why give her such a rubbish backstory and uninteresting motive? It's like watching a rock weather. They could've swapped her with Matou Shinji even and it would be 10x more interesting.

I can't think of anything positive about her. What are you guys seeing that I don't?

Fate episode 6 rewinds time back before the confrontation at the mansion. Richard decides to do what most characters don't consider - negotiate an alliance with the most reasonable of participants. Still, it's an action anime, so Enkidu decides to test Richard's powers. The interesting part about his abilities is using Excalibur's powers with any weapon of choice. We also get a couple of stylized skits: a horror story about a red hood girl and Richard's cartoonish dream where he meets someone named Saint Germaine. Don't know what make of it yet. After Enkidu & Richard made a deal, an assassin joined them for a temporary alliance. Later heroes added Sigma to their bunch(not like he had any choice). Enkidu is aware of a dark entity that should be stopped from touching the grail at all costs. Feels similar to Zero when one unhinged servant forces the rest to team up and fight against a common enemy. This is where Flatt & Jack come to play. They already infiltrated the hospital and found the master - little girl in a coma, who more likely brought plague fog upon this city.
Great episode. Maybe overstylized and leaves with more questions than answers, but it never stops moving the story forward. Each episode ends on a cliffhanger that makes me even more curious about what's gonna happen in the next one.

EPISODE OF THE YEAR, SO FAR. Shun Miyakawa and Hirotaka Mori, we don't deserve this masterpiece just by saying it's EOTY. At the very least, I want to make this one episode that I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Shun Miyakawa's debut as SB/ED. I knew about it and never expected Miyakawa to exceed my already EXTREMELY high expectations. Mori, what else can I say? His talent in this one episode speaks for itself.

I'm running out of words. Words alone are enough for me to GLAZE tf out of this single masterpiece of an art, and I'm sure it will be even crazier in the next episodes. 100/10 episode. (When it comes to Episode of the Week, it has to beat Journal with Witch, because that anime feels impossible to beat in terms of how much I'm immersed in it.
@NezuSwallowtail_ That Francesca close-up shot is so funny:D

They be flexing at this point man, what amazing animation.
Richard Vs Enkidu, their alliance with No Name Assassin, Richard's past, The situation with Fake Rider whose dark fog is enveloping the entire city, Jack The Ripper checking out the hospital by disguising like staff, and maybe some bits of Ayaka's backstory as well.

This is the best episode so far.

He did an Excalibur with a Stick... A GODDAMN STICK !
And of course they absolutely flamed their budget on it.

EPISODE OF THE YEAR (so far)

what about Jjk 3×4, I've seen Jjk fans on Twitter saying the Strange Fake episode wasn't even comparable with thier episode lol

Fate is hella underrated. Of course the JJK fans don't even know about true PEAK. They can hardly read and understand their own series. Reading Comprehension Deficiency is real.

@lesik Dude, I felt like I was going crazy reading the comments. This episode used every trick in the book to save money by animating as little as possible. Hopefully they got it out of their system by outsourcing this one, and the main team will be back for the rest of the season.

Episode was so good man, genuinely amazed if we manage to get another one of this quality before the season ends. I thought JJK s2 couldn't be topped but this cleared that entire season for me. Don't need tourists to respect this series, if the later fights are up to par it'll speak for itself.

Next episode we should be getting True Berserker finally.. and HER.

Never underestimate an Arthur freak 😭🔥🔥

Richard's Excalibur goes so hard. But we all know that it would still be a long shot just trying to use a branch as Excalibur to defeat someone like Enkidu.

So that's how they met Sigma in last episode. Never expected an alliance between No name Assassin woman, Enkidu and Richards. Now Tsubaki seems to be the biggest trouble for everyone in Snowfield.

If there’s a reason why Richard is one of my fav servants this is one of them. Plus the past few episodes as well be it Innocently strumming a guitar or fighting ppl. Heck even he arrived early in FGO too bruh.

And Mind you he did an Excalibur…

with a stick.

A STICK.

Already an Early EOTY for me.
@V1P3Rdmk You and me both, Richard is now officially my GOAT as well. Also, this has got to be AOTS for me.

Great ep

That Richard vs Enkidu fight was breathtaking, even tho it was just a spar.

Damn, so when will he use his actual Excalibur?? Just a tree branch did that much damage.

So Richard Lionheart a Saber glazer, lol.

Literally was about to ask about little red riding hood.

Love how we get to see more of Gilgamesh's royal nature in this fate.

So that's how they met Sigma.

Nice to see the slight change of heart by Ayaka.

What is Jester abt to do???

9.5/10

Getting such a competent author to write one of the most unhinged stupid but serious stories ever is lightning in a bottle. Only he could write something that's so absurd that people would normally scoff at, but it be genuinely gripping the whole time. I know it's so early but this show might really be AOTY. There is never a boring moment.
