Do you think there's discrimination on male preferences?

It's a well known and documented biological fact that human males evolved to seek youthfulness in their partners. I won't touch on the subject of the age of consent (as it may be interpreted as going against the board rules, just let me mention that scientifically a PDF is someone attracted to prepubescents, i.e. 11 y.o. and younger, which has nothing to do with the age of majority), but nowadays, you're going to be called a creep and predator by many people in the west if you pursue legal adults as an older man, for example 30 y.o. dating 20 y.o., 45 y.o. going for 25 y.o., etc.

There was a study which checked preferences of men and women based on photos, 45 y.o. men found 25 y.o. girls the most attractive, while 45 y.o. women found men their age (+-5 years) as the most attractive. Men of all ages preferred girls in their early to mid-twenties (and it scaled with the man's age). This difference in preference makes sense from an evolutionary perspective, but smh western society shames men for how evolution made us, gaslighting us into believing that it's abnormal to feel attracted to youthfulness and peak fertility (18-22) and that you should be ashamed for not going for women your age (especially as an older, successful man).

The funniest thing is that those same people wouldn't say anything against a 40 y.o. woman dating a younger stud (which does happen, but is a rare exception, usually for short-term).

Evolutionary psychology is even more bunk than abnormal psychology but females mature earlier than males generally so differences in attraction are likely in part from that aside from the obvious cultural influences.

imagine using evolution as justification for whatever humans do, as if we're frogs or fish that are only governed by biology and nothing else
no, biology/evolution is less important for us, and we're advanced enough to ignore or defy it in many cases, especially when it's something harmful to others

@Kikugi - Oh yeah, women totally defy evolution by—consistently choosing men based on their appearance, height and social and financial status, as well as behavior cues that support either short (dominance, confidence) or long (kindness, altruism) term sexual strategies. Evolution determines our EMOTIONS. And emotions determine our romantic lives. You can defy your emotions, sure, dating a person who disgusts you, but this won't make anyone happy, not you not them. In general, though, I don't see any biological defiance in human sexual behavior.
Still, when social norms go against our biology, it creates friction and a lot of unhappiness. And I wonder where you find any harm in the dating lives of two consenting adults?

Totally, when a girl goes on a sex vacation with her female friends, it's considered a "naughty" and wholesome adventure, but when a guy invites his billionaire buddies to an island, it's suddenly all over the news! So unfair, tch tch :X >_>

@149597871 I wonder if you see the difference between two adults dating and trafficking 14 year olds for prostitution... based on your message, I'm not sure... 🗿

I don't know which is worse on that perspective.

Medieval times when you work from 8-10, marry and "breed a lot" around 14 and die at 40.

Our time when you work from 16-25, marry at 30-40, sometimes have no children and die at 70-100.

I'm caricaturing obviously. But medieval times seemed to align better with natural biology (teenage hormones, young adults).

@Eldinis There's a few things you got a bit wrong. First, 14 y.o. in medieval times were like modern 12 y.o. because of lack of nutrition, puberty came much later, and they weren't likely to "breed a lot." In fact, it became more common to have children at this age in the late 19th and 20th century as the nutrition problem led to earlier onset of puberty. You also described how things are in some of the most modern countries, but in Africa, India, many Eastern countries, it's very uncommon to marry so late and many people have children at 16-18. But again, IDK how your reply is related to what I wrote in my original post...

What I can tell you is that as a guy you're much happier when you start having a sex life in your mid to late teens rather than becoming an incel. The reason why incels are so unhappy is that their life goes against their biology. And there was a study that found out, pretty unsurprisingly, a direct correlation between how many sexual partners college boys have and the chance of them having depression (the more girls you have, the less likely is depression). Medieval times, indeed, aligned better with natural biology in many matters (like being more physically active, not overeating, breathing in healthy air, etc), which is why many psychologists argue that depression was far less common back then despite harsher conditions.

@MyOwnGod Yea, I'm not going to argue on my vaguely random numbers. By breeding a lot, I meant that deaths at birth (and children deaths) were much more common, so people were making many more children to ensure enough of them lived out. I don't know about 19th and 20th century though, I never took a particular interest on that topic.

Sorry, I should have stated that. I think that discrimination has arisen with modernity, and because of modernity: longer lifespans, longer education, huge medical advances so less pressure to "breed" excessively. Men tend to be more mature and have more finances older, while women are still pressured (less but still) by the age fertility bracket.

You're right that this is a first world country perspective. I'd be curious to know if there is discrimination in other countries though. Is it also badly seen in "Africa, India, Eastern countries" to marry a younger one? -especially India with the famous family matchmakings.

also positive discrimination is needed for equality but i care more about class war than culture war

Shaming men for feeling attracted to young girls is a psyop to artificially increase the value of older women.
