... maybe ... XD
I'm reading the manga too XD (6 books out in France) and it's really pity this anime is not a true adaptation of the manga >.>
I enjoy very much the manga (the books 4, et 6 are even excellent !!), so i'm a little disappointed ... )=
One exemple :
Keita ? Who is he ?? This guy isn't Keita O_O ... LOL He told "Akane-san" ?? XXD No no the true Keita didn't really have respect (even if he like her) for Akane when he's speaking XD

But the episode was ok ! Perhaps if i didn't read the manga before i would like it more ! The animation was correct, the fight was great ! Kuro ^w^
If Sunrise wanted to do an adaptation of the manga, it's a failure ! But if they wanted to do a different adaptation ... maybe ^^ ... maybe it will be a good anime ! =)

Loved it. That was amazing not only the fight scene and the animations... but everything! Especially Kuro! so cute xD at least for me. :p

I most likely won't read the manga until after the anime.

Well, the main reasons are the major plot changes. They basically took everything involving the characters, their individual situations, and their relationships with each other, threw them out the window Olbermann style, and replaced it with basic, cookie cutter shounen anime stuffs. And from the looks of the preview, there will be more of that in the next episode too.

Not to say everything was bad about it. The music and art were on par to Sunrise's usual playing field (especially considering that the manga had a wierd drawing style that gave it an anime feel, but wouldn't transition well into a moving format,) and while it is cookie cutter shounen, that doesn't mean it won't be entertaining.

Hmmm, very nice first episode, with an excellent direction and fight scene, great pacing too, and fantastic animation as usual for Sunrise (come on, comparing Kurokami The Animation with Noir.....). As expected, the anime adaptation is much better than the original.

The only thing that was really wrong in this episode was the "I will kill my brother" catch phrase by Kuro which was kind of misplaced, but the rest was great. Good work Sunrise, once again.

But for sure, the anime and the manga are very different, so it's not really an adaptation of the original work, more a retelling with a different setting for a different audience.

Heavy spoilers coming in the spoiler tag, don't read it if you haven't read the manga/manwha.

To me this is just another sci-fi/action/gore anime. I am surprised they use Mars (red) and Saturn(black) in their subject line up with this anime. Heard also the guy with glasses is just a pawn in the whole organization and the real guys are all across the world.

Well, I was watching this with my sceptic-hat on, but I have to say it wasn't terrible, which I thought it would be.

It seemed to start off fairly slow, which isn't a bad thing if it's done well, but I thought the beginning of this episode dragged on a bit. But once the action began and the premise started to come to the surface, it seemed to keep me entertained.

It hardly looks set to rock my world, but it has gained my interest. I shall keep watching.

Wow, I just watched all of it subbed and I didn't expect for things to be that different! It's quite simply not the manga at all. It fails as an adaption. Half of the episode is original material, what does happen in the manga is shown entirely out of order, Keita is a bitch in the manga but he's a bloody waste in the anime, his character has been totally ruined. Kuro's main line "I'm going to kill my brother" was poorly executed as well. The whole episode also moved way too fast and how are Kuro and Keita suppost to form a contract now his arm didn't even get ripped off?

The episode is alright for what it is, but as an adaption it's a failure. I'm really disappointed that it's so different from the manga.

My thoughts exactly. I loved the manhwa, which is why I'm hating what is being done with it in this anime adaptation:
- Keita going from a 20something year old jackass in the manhwa to a 16 year old dare it say it... emo riddled bitch.
- Kuro going from a boxer to a kickboxer (I'm a boxer which is why it pissed me off).
- Everything is out of order.
- Keita never knew Mayu before hand.
- Keita never saw his mom's double in the train but much later on.
- And who the f**k is that dude with the glasses?

I really hope things improve but judging from the next episode preview, a lot more is gonna be changed from the story.

Ugh. Disappointing. As much as I would like to jump on the "manga is better" bandwagon, I wont. Because the manga isnt just better, its a helluva lot better. I even have this prevailing disposition to ramble on and on on how it fucked up the story and how much it lost its style and charm but instead I'll let my fellow compatriots sweep this. Sunrise did a great job on Gintama, its a shame that they fell flat on Black God. Sure, judging a show by one ep is wrong, but I dont have the luxury of time to find out if it will rise up to the occasion. Im sticking with the manwha.

... I hate to say this given the tone of the conversation up there ^ but... I like the changes. I read Yen Press's preview for the manwha and wasn't in the least impressed to be honest.

The fact that they made it so that the main character wasn't a twenty-something loser jerk is probably a smart move especially with people not familiar with the manwha. I know personally if I don't like the main it can turn me off the show/manga/manwha. And that's exactly what happened with KuroKami. Quite frankly I couldn't care so much if Kuro hadn't fixed things in the manga because to me it seemed him dying would have been no real loss.

Not entirely won on the anime yet either though, I'll give it a few episodes to see if it catches with me or not. (This seems to be the case with everything I've watched from the new season. Big change from Fall in which several shows had me hook, line, and sinker from the start)

Well, I've now read the first two chapters of Black God.

It's, well, different. I think that it's a little better than the anime because the plot pacing is better. But I'll have to see more of both.

Oh, and older Keita has more chemistry with Akane. Seriously, what's a high schooler doing with a 21-year-old childhood friend? And she's a little less disty in the manga. Kuro's pretty much the same, far as I can tell.
But jerk Keita is so much more realistic than emo Keita. Seriously, there must be some requierment that all anime character be unable to recover from childhood trauma. Yeah his mother died under odd circumstances, but that shouldn't make him a depressed fag ~10 years later.

Found some crap subs on Megavideo... The translations were probably from the dub or something, no way a normal person would go to such lenghts to avoid saying the word "doppelganger".
I won't even ask if decent subs are coming, because I think I'm going to drop this show anyway. I might watch one more episode, but I doubt it.
The synopsis should be changed too since it's got nothing to do with the actual plot. They changed everything... I mean, I was looking forward to some anime where the protagonist isn't a high schooler and they just went and changed everything.

Found a DL of the American Dub....It was actually pretty decent, imo. Thou I will always prefer subtitles (personal preference) Im pretty sure Im not allowed to post torrent links here but if ya search a little it is easy to find. (http://www.mininova.org)

As for the Anime itself, I personally think it is one of the better shows this Winter (not that there is much this season anyways) I mean it was sorta a shock that they killed 2 potential main/side characters. The main character sorta reminded me of Chaos Head (which I liked) The fight scene imo was amazing, and that combo...damn. It also seems to have pretty high production values, which is always nice.

I have very little to add to this as far as my thoughts go. Fight scene was okay once Kuro got her head of steam, but still not as good as the manga illustrations of it.

From the preview, it looks like they form their contract in the next episode. The question is "Why?" Why change the story in that way? They have to form their contract to have a plot, and the ramen stand fight is when Keita loses his arm. So there was no reason they couldn't have done this just like it was in the manga. Since they have no reason to be hanging out together in the anime yet, it made their meeting at the crosswalk with the little girl a big dumb coincidence.

The episode is alright for what it is, but as an adaption it's a failure. I'm really disappointed that it's so different from the manga.

Me too. :(

I'd heard this director is known for playing up the romantic elements in series. Not sure how he's going to do that now that Keita is a high schooler and Akane a milf. Must be why they created that completely fictional "Yamada" classmate character.

I really hope things improve but judging from the next episode preview, a lot more is gonna be changed from the story.

I guess I was hoping for a job like Claymore; twenty-something episodes almost straight out of the manga, and then a semi-dumb anime-only ending when they ran out the season.

She was supposed to be is guardian when his mom died. I guess this seems more plausible in the anime with the increased age difference, whereas in the manga they both seem to be in their early 20's. But in the anime his acts like his mom's death was a recent event from what he said to the raman stand owner.

Somewhat depressing..

The animation is similar to that of Tokyo Majin Gakuen, while the story itself isn't all that far off. It is about the paranormal, mainly relates to deities and supernatural forces. Only differences is that the protagonist this time around is powerless.

Wow WTF Sunrise really??? Ok Keita better lose his friggin arm, when you can show a girl getting plowed by a truck you can afford to show one lost arm. I have no clue why in god's name they are doing some of these changes, it's not like they are messing around with a slow part of the manga to make it faster paced. It's like the director didn't like the story (some with To-Love Ru) and said screw it I'm doing my own thing. I mean everything else for the most part is fine, the animation, choreography, and music were absolutely excellent. It's just the plot changes that are really grinding my axe. Maybe he reduced Keita's age so more chance or romance with Kuro?

Seems to me that they just added gratuitous violence to make up for an incoherent plot. It's as if they were trying to get an Elfen Lied feel and just failed.

Well since I have been instilled with low expectations now, it can't really get much worse. 2/5

EDIT:Btw was this anime supposed to be hyped up or something? I didn't even hear about it till just a day or 2 ago lol.

Many peole say that you can compare Kurokami with Elfen Lied and Shkugan no Shana but it has it own individual aspects. The first episode was really nice and i want to watch more of this serie but i have to say the character style i don't like.
