Relevant points about me and some of my thoughts:
- I tend to prefer older anime (I love cel animation).
- I'm very nostalgic, so I often rewatch many stuff I love.
- Musical enjoyment matters A LOT to me.
- Happy endings have to be earned.
- I'm more of a "Feeling > Thinking" person, so I mostly judge based on what I feel rather than what I rationalize through thinking. Which means that my scores on each anime basically reflect how much I value the experience I've had with it. The "objective" aspects like quality of the animation, voice acting, etc are important to me but it's not what necessarily define the experience.
- Works that that are serious in nature and mostly contemplate serious themes have to be judged seriously.
- Watching anime (or a tv show or movie) is not a "passive" experience, I don't like to mindlessly consume media. When I watch something, I actively try to put in all my attention and try to extract as much of the content as I can, be it a serious or a goofy work.
- Using numbers to rank the value of a piece of work doesn't make much sense to me. I very much prefer expressed thoughts and opinions rather than numbers.
My ranking system:
1 ~ 4: The "BAD" range. Not much to be said there, it's just stuff that don't have much value to me and/or provided a negative experience overall
5: The "MEH" rank. Not good, not bad, just meh.
6 ~ 10: The "GOOD" range. Stuff that I consider to be of much value to me and/or provided a positive experience overall. This range is quite subjective and the numbers don't mean that much. If something is a 10, it means that it perfectly clicks with me and that any bad aspects in it are completely overshadowed by the good aspects. These numbers are not fixed and I often change them around based on how I feel about each anime as it grows (or shrinks) on me as time passes by.
