No worries about the response time, I don't mind + its the apps fault lol. I totally forgot this site had an app. I think I tried it when it first came out but the functionality was lacking compared to the site so I uninstalled it. Its probably improved since I imagine.

I also saw Dragonball as a kid, as well as some older Gundam. It's cool to hear about peoples gateway anime, thanks. Dragonball was a great watch as a kid but I was also so much more confused & scared by it than when I watched episodic anime like Pokemon, Yugi-oh, Beyblade, Digimon. Non of which I recognized as being anime at the time either. Also I appreciate the compliment about being an OG, never received that one. Although I wouldn't go that farrrr lol. In regards to being an OG I feel was born too late to be ever be one, even if I started watching as a kid. Idk, maybe with how much anime has grown in the West I do qualify for a honorary OG card.

I felt very similarly starting out. I wanted to watch any anime or franchise that I heard about despite their literally being HUNDREDs of anime with intriguing premises or gorgeous art. Eventually after picking and choosing popular anime for a few years, I began to develop my own taste, or rather found what it was I really like. The feeling of getting overwhelmed is still common, even if I feel like I've seen lots of the so called "peak" anime that entice me. It feels like the large amount of new shows and sequels coming out every anime season has me grinding episodes just to keep up.
It's easy to feel left out, especially when you want to talk about what anime you're watching with other fans. Outside of school or work I'm not very sociable so I've never gotten into any fanbases or kept up much with discussion. Its kind of wonderful for me because I'm lucky if someone has even heard about 5 anime in my top 20 (which is outdated, I can't change it without MAL Premium which I can't buy lol).

Yeah I got discord. We can add each other on there if you'd like. I also don't mind just chatting on MAL but if the app is going to make that hard than its no sweat to talk on Discord. Your mention about a friend who's very vocal about their JoJo love is funny. I feel like everyone I've met in college that's into JoJo is like that. Don't even need to talk to them to find out their interest, they just be making loud JoJo references randomly lol. I'd probably be vocal about it if I was more sociable (maybe? I hope not, at least in the same way). Also I love Tatami Galaxy, legendary bring up bro. Masaki Yuasa is one of my favorite anime directors alongside Satoshi. You're right about Satoshi being one of the greatest. I mourn bro regurarly ;'( Did you know he wrote some manga? I own Opus and Dream Fossil but havent the latter yet. ALSO BROUGHT IM FUMING, this just reminded me I got a artbook of his but I havent seen it in literal ages. I'm about to go search for that thing, I swear I'll shed at least 2 tears if I lost it

I saw this when you sent your friend request initially but I have massive respect to you for watching Satoshi Kon. His movies as well as Paranoia Agent shaped my interest heavily. It's a shame such a great mind had to pass away so soon

Oh yeah, I still watch a good amou of anime. I watch some random older stuff as well as keep up with seasonal releases. I'm probably more into anime than when I started , or maybe just as much as when I was 13. My taste have changed a lot since the though. I spent a long time picking random ones as well and it's pretty reliable method. Watching fairly popular shows semi-randomly introduced me to a lot of interesting series and helped me realize my own taste. Now when people ask me my favourites they typically don't know the anime I give them :''). I normally just tell people Jojos Bizarre Adventure is my favorite since that's pretty well known.

I'm somewhat similar boat where I don't know anyone personally who watches a whole lot anymore. I've got a sister who watches a few occasionally, so we got that to bond over every so often.

Feel free to open discussion about any specific anime on either of our list, I like to think I remember most of them well enough to be able to talk about them lol.

Thanks for the friend request. Been awhile since I've gotten one. I'm not one to engage socially on this site very much but if you want to talk that's cool with me. Looks like we got some crossover in shows we like, neat. When did you start watching anime? I started watching it on my own accord when I was 13. I still remember most of the first anime I watched. Those will always been special, well not all of them. I watched a few garbage things
It’s time to ditch the text file.
