Nice review on ROTSH, I still regret falling for the MC being underdog bait, I'm glad that the fandom got what they deserve in the form of S2.

I'm glad you are back with your response, yeah, I agree that anime nowadays is too neat and clean in regard to gore but more importantly it shouldn't be it's feul, Berserk got it's complex story and characters as it's main quirks, Griffith isn't really a bad guy in the beginning of the show but at one point of time you can't help but to hate him, something not necessary but most people do, right now he is a guy truly dedicated towards what he desires, not exactly manipulating or seeing his comrades as pawns rather just moving forward. Do let me know your experience of the show after finishing it. (Sorry for the terribly late reply was very busy with some stuff in irl.)

It's a preoccupation with people who go out of their way to disrupt what little peace there is. The least you could do is express yourself without directly instigating, which it's clear you're aware of. I might say it's long for a dark fantasy and you don't need to think if you want have a grasp of Berserk story manga is compulsory, start with the anime to see the potential and your own interest in the world of Berserk, the reason why the 1997 adaptation is considered to be the best out of all the adaptations of Berserk out there because it was made with proper planning and the staff, there wasn't enough source material for the show to be a longer and continuous adaptation that's why when S2 came out it was more like cashing the success of previous season rather than continuing the legacy of the first adaptation. Watch it (1997 one) and go for the manga if you like to see more, the movie adaptations is a curious case, you have to go through the same stuff to see enough new stuff, although I don't consider it worth as it is still very little compare to the source material rather go with the manga after the 1997 anime if you want to see more, however, don't even think of not reading it from the beginning as constant significant changes were made in the 1997 anime to fit everything well given how much source material was available that time. (Sorry for the late response)

Similar to Monster & Death Note? I'll suggest Boogiepop Phantom (2000), despite it's a supernatural show I've never seen a show depicting misfits and mentally ill characters this well, it's dark and serious in tone throughout the show and is very philosophical and can be disturbing for the faint hearted, in technical aspects, the animation may not look very clean but it compliments the tone of the show very well, in terms of background score, it's one of best I've seen.

Death Frenzy: I don't know you like historicals or not but considering you are asking for similar stuff to Monster and Death, you'll most likely find this one similar enough in regard to tone, it captures the beauty of stealth, an mature one for mature minds, it isn't action-packed because it takes all the time needed to clear motivations and stakes.

Psycho-Pass & Parasyte: The Maxim: Both are the type of shows which got the mature tag because of their overall performance, they aren't consistent with characterization and story, if you have already seen the popular Hollywood franchise Blade Runner followed by Equilibrium and have seen something from Ghost in the Shell franchise then it's a blend, the lack of originality and conviction for Psycho-Pass makes it a alright show for me similarly Parasyte is also very inconsistent with it's storytelling many times seems confused and have a philosophy you'll forget after completing the show, a pretty edgy one in my opinion, you'll mostly find people praising it for it's gore rather than anything else.

You're right, I haven't updated it, I have watched a little of everything so, no shitty light novel adaptations, no school romance bullshit, nor any edgy show, it should be either complex and detailed or else stays true to itself and offers quality content with respect to genre and theme, although my favorites are Ghost in the Shell, Ergo Proxy, Monster, One Outs, Death Frenzy, Boogiepop Phantom, Patlabor and few more.
