Berserk is the greatest story ever told in all of fiction. I will fight anyone who says otherwise.
The 90s and 2000s were the best eras of anime.
Things I love: NGE, Ghost in the Shell, Claymore (manga), Attack on Titan, Assassin's Creed, Mistborn, Berserk, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect, Tomb Raider, The Witcher, Character Driven Stories, High Fantasy, Low Fantasy, Dark Fantasy, Grimdark (yes, that's different from dark fantasy), Sci-Fi, Cyberpunk (both the genre and the game), Deep worldbuilding and lore, Drama, Action, Vampires (unless you're Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, or any thing inspired by or similar to them. They ruined vampires),
Things I hate: Edge for the sake of edge (cough Akame ga Kill cough), The Tokyo Ghoul Anime, DEVIL'S LINE, Most Shounen, Shows that have 100+ episodes (unless you're Inuyasha, then you get a pass), Battle anime, Slice of life romance (unless you're Bloom into You), Isekei (again, unless you're Inuyasha), Berserk 2016.
It's so hard for me to find anime that I like because most anime nowadays is made for ADHD riddled teenagers who can't watch anything that doesn't have high action or characters bouncing off the walls. Where are the shows with staying power? People still talk about NGE over twenty years later. Is anyone gonna talk about MHA or JJK in 20 years? Probably but not for the story and characters, which I feel is the only thing that matters. Fights are the icing on the cake, not the cake itself.

What?!
anyways, based
Driving force? You mean she set it in motion like all revenge dramas? Crippled her character as a device for events to happen around her? Sure, you can do that. It's just not as effective as a survivor's story that it could have been. It was fine she lost her mind but it never felt like that. It felt like she was discarded. She never recovered or actively took part to effect the narrative for two dozen volumes. That's denied character agency. And with Casca being of weaker mind, right, she is. So she remains that way, eh? Well, bravo. That's an opportunity missed and a character ruined for me.
