I am a girl in her twenties who signed up on this website to keep track of the anime and manga I've read/watched. I will pretty much watch anything, but mostly it's shounen because I like the action and the hot guys prancing around, most of what I've watched has a cutie or two lurking around in them which is why I watched it, the others are because the story was cute and I had the time. I'm not particularly interested in starting a series from the ground up, watching 300 plus episodes of something makes me feel...overwhelmed and I get stressed easily. Right now I'm tackling anime that's short, we're talking about 12-24 episodes long here, because I swear I'm ADHD, I lose focus easy and once I've put it down...I rarely ever pick it back up (Here's looking at you YuYu Hakusho)
When I'm not reading or watching anime/manga, I can be found playing either SNES games or Pokémon on my 3DS, I also enjoy reading classic literature and writing, and aspire to be a novelist one day.
Ah, yeah. I'm thinking of a particular Kyle I met in 7th grade. And wow, that's gross.
Incidentally, Mountain Dew is my favorite soda. I forgot to take my cup of Baja Blast Mountain Dew (from Taco Bell) out of my brother's car the other night. Yesterday I discovered it half-spilled and ruined, so I had to pour it out, and now the passenger side floor is icky. :'(
Bonzi Buddy! I used to love the parrot version. I would type things up to have it speak them out loud. It was a fun novelty. A few of my friends were impressed by it at the time.
We have a lot in common. Looks like we grew up in a similar culture as well. I used to have a country accent, but not anymore. haha
Erm...I'll send you a PM.
Gaige's dad is just a random dude in that audio log who isn't really a character in any of the games, as far as I know. In my hometown, I actually had a next door neighbor named Gage, a guy a few years younger than me.
Whoo, I just woke up...and it's nearly 11 PM. XD
If you get a PC, I could help you pick out something. I did a lot of research on parts and PCs in general. The main thing you would want to make sure of for this game is a GPU (video card) with performance equal to or better than an NVIDIA GeForce 8500 or ATI Radeon HD 2600...which is pretty much anything modern, so you're more or less covered unless you want to run fancier games as well. If you have any desktop PC lying around, you could also just upgrade the parts, which would be a cheaper alternative.
Wait, wait...all their names were Kyle? Or is this some sort of stereotype?
They chewed tobacco in high school?! Well, I guess that's not too out of the ordinary. When I was ten, some of my friends (around the same age) smoked.
Yep, that's the word. :P The rewinding gave it a vintage feel, though. I always liked electronics, including obsolete stuff. My first computer was a 1980s Macintosh. I remember having to untangle a ton of cords as a kid, especially with all the gaming consoles. Did you ever have this for SNES? It was so fun! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Scope
Oh, dang. That's crazy. I'm glad you didn't get hurt. Not to brag, but I've been through a lot worse. For some people, traumatic experiences break them and they can't cope...but in my case, it made me a much stronger person. Any challenge I have to endure now feels like nothing in comparison...and I'm more sympathetic to others' suffering.
Before I forget, here are some more BL vids!
I've never played the first game, but this is hilarious!
I actually just found this gem yesterday. In the game, you find ECHO Recorders in various places with audio messages. Some show you the backstory of the characters...but there aren't any for Gaige. Thankfully, they released them outside the game, on YouTube! Turns out Gaige is voiced by Cherami Leigh, who did the English voices for characters in A Certain Scientific Railgun, Black Butler, Dance In The Vampire Bund, Erased, Ghost Hunt, Hunter x Hunter, Mnemosyne, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Psycho-Pass, School Rumble, Shiki, Soul Eater, Sword Art Online, Violet Evergarden, and many other anime. BL2 was the first video game she voice acted in too.
hehe! Man, it would be fun to play BL2 with some friends someday. It supports online co-op with up to four players, but I've only been playing it solo. It isn't very hardware-demanding, especially with lower graphics settings. (Though it looks way better on high settings, especially with the new Ultra HD Texture Pack. I plan on getting a 4K monitor sooner or later.) If you get lucky, you can get a PC on eBay for under $100 that may be able to handle it. Otherwise it should only cost a few hundred bucks if you pick the right parts or a good prebuilt. Oh, and the game is on sale every once in awhile. The Handsome Collection is what to go for, as it has all the DLC except for the newest one from this year and also includes Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (which takes place between 1 and 2). It's normally $60 (and would be over $200 if everything in the bundle was purchased separately) but I got it for like $7.
Ah, you mean NOS. I used to drink that one all the time...but my body has a weird reaction to it. Sometimes it makes me feel great, but usually not. Rockstar has been the most reliable for me. The first energy drink I had, as a teenager, was the default flavor of Monster. I hated it so much I gave it away after just one sip. There are a few Monster flavors I like, though, like Pacific Punch and MAXX Solaris. I actually drank a bottle of concord grape raspberry V8 the other day. And of course (just realized I used the same phrase as you...lol), I'm a fan of sweet tea as well. I grew up in a state right next to yours.
Yeah, I meant the movie. XD But I used to have one of the games on PS1 too.
Nice. I miss VHS. Now I'm thinking of how I memorized the entire movie of The Lion King as a kid.
What's the PTSD about? (If you don't mind me asking.)
Aw, man. Hopefully it goes into remission. When I was a teenager, I had a healthy lifestyle, eating well and exercising daily. (At one point I did 500 pushups, 500 situps, dumbells, running, wrestling practice, etc. just about every day.) Nowadays I'm kind of a bum. I laze around all day doing whatever I want. I have many goals in life, but I'm less passionate than I used to be. I'm addicted to energy drinks, which are particularly unhealthy. I try to limit myself to one a day, at least. I guess I'll be healthier when I'm richer. *shrug*
hehe. I have Zer0 as my Steam wallpaper. (click!) He reminds me of Solid Snake and the cyborg ninja Gray Fox from Metal Gear Solid. Speaking of holograms...that's actually his special ability: he can turn invisible and project a hologram of himself to confuse enemies. It only lasts about five seconds, though. (You're right about the emotes, by the way.) Gaige's special ability is much cooler: summoning a robot to fight for her for an entire minute! (Sometimes longer. This is an FPS game with RPG elements, so there are lots of skills you can develop.) I've been living much of my life as these characters lately. I'm at over a thousand hours now, and I've only been playing it since July! Over the past day I played as another character, Krieg the Psycho (Psychos are a type of enemy)...but only for extra storage space via Claptrap's Secret Stash, which lets you transfer items between characters. (Item management can be a chore.)
This one is from Tales From The Borderlands, which I haven't played.
While I'm at it, I'll show you the opening cinematic for BL2. I like the cross between cartoony and realistic 3D graphics.
And if you're really curious, here's an interesting video for BL3, which came out last year. I plan on getting it once it comes to Steam. For now, I've only heard the soundtrack.
Have you seen Space Jam? I'm listening to the soundtrack now. haha
Oh! And today I downloaded the complete Borderlands 2 soundtrack, which came out a few months ago. It's nearly five hours long. In the past, only some of the music was available. The music in this game blows me away, so I'm so happy to finally hear it all properly on its own in high quality. Edit: Gah. Complete versions of some tracks still aren't available. I may need to extract them from the game files. I'm really into music. lol
It's like putting Legos together. Really easy once you know what to do. Almost no talent required. lol
Wow, same for me! I almost never get sick now, but as a kid, I was often sick.
Damn, that really sucks. :( I hope you're able to get treatment to make things better. My mom had diabetes. I hope I don't get it.
There are so many depressing things in life. I think many who are depressed feel that way because they can't help but think too much. It's that way for me, at least. Things bother me sometimes to the point that I just don't want to think about it...so I resort to entertainment to distract myself and have some fun.
I'm glad she appeals to you as well! I'm using Zer0 (who I've leveled up much higher) to farm rare items for her.
I regret spending four figures (each) on my old laptops. My semi-custom desktop PC was under $500, yet it's much better (and more reliable) overall. Some of the parts were used, though, so it cost less than it normally would. You can get a pretty decent used desktop PC on eBay for under $100 if you get lucky. I plan on building a high-end fully custom desktop PC in the future so I can do 4K gaming with high frame rates.
aww. You're not old at all! Middle age (and a midlife crisis) is between 45 and 65.
What's going on with your health? https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22372/~/how-to-connect-nintendo-switch-to-a-tv
I only game solo; at least for now. The only multiplayer I played in the past was the traditional type on consoles where everyone would sit next to each other on a couch. There was a much better emotional connection that way.
Oh, so you're in the US? I'm in Michigan. I grew up in Virginia and lived in Florida for a few years as well.
Did you see that video? I wanted to share a little of my excitement about the character. haha. She has some of the funnest dialogue too.
heh. I'm 32 and I still love cartoons, anime, video games, etc. Do you ever play any PC games? I've been having a blast lately playing as Gaige the Mechromancer in Borderlands 2. (My main character is Zer0 the Assassin. Oh, and that game is on consoles too.) Instead of explaining about her, I'll just show you a trailer.
Yeah, I saw Violet Evergarden. (If you're ever in the mood to be overwhelmed, check out my anime list.) I want to see the movie, but it's not available with subs yet. I didn't cry...but I bawled like a baby when I saw Clannad: After Story.
I'm glad to bring you excitement. :^)
FMAB is a remake that's faithful to the manga, whereas the original FMA anime (which I assume is the one you mentioned) mostly had its own story. FMAB has been my #1 anime since it came out, and it's been ranked #1 on this site for so long.
Well, you can always get used consoles and games for next to nothing.
I consider my second favorite anime When They Cry (Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni) to be a psychological horror / mystery masterpiece. It really messes with your mind and is the only anime aside from FMAB that's 10/10 for me. The source material is a visual novel series. (There's also a manga, but it was made after the anime. Although I've seen lots of anime, I haven't read much manga as of yet.) I took pics of my Blu-ray box set. https://xss.now.cc/forum/?topicid=1756073
On a related note, I recently got this set of another horror anime: https://www.sentaifilmworks.com/products/elfen-lied-complete-collection-steelbook-edition-blu-ray
Yeah, I randomly found you on a necrobumped thread or two and liked your avatars.
Have you seen the first two seasons of Black Butler? I noticed they weren't on your list.
I guess your plan to watch list is in your head, since your one on MAL only has seven titles. (Whereas mine is in the thousands.)
I always enjoyed playing sports more than watching them, but I would like to see those anime someday. I know they're well-regarded. Gaming has taken up lots of my free time lately, so I don't watch anime constantly like I used to.
Since you're into shounen, you need to see Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Hunter x Hunter (2011)! They blew my mind. Not short, but so worth it.
You said Donkey Dong instead of Donkey Kong. ahaha. XD In Borderlands 2 (which I have played for nearly 800 hours since July), there's an easter egg: Donkey Mong, a variation of the bullymongs that are like yetis crossed with gorillas, but he has a tie and throws barrels like the original Donkey Kong. Once you find and defeat him, it unlocks an achievement called Definitely An Italian Plumber. (Mario made his first appearance in the original 1981 Donkey Kong arcade game.)
Here are some PS1 games I like. (Some are available in digital format now for modern PlayStation consoles.)
Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9
Metal Gear Solid
Einhänder
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
Cool Boarders 2
Tomba!
Driver
Resident Evil: Director's Cut
Twisted Metal 2
Parasite Eve
MediEvil
Gex: Enter The Gecko
Spyro The Dragon
Crash Bandicoot 2
Kagero: Deception 2
Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit
Small Soldiers
Silent Hill
Tomb Raider 2, 3
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
PaRappa The Rapper
The Lost World: Jurassic Park
Gran Turismo
Ape Escape
Tekken 3
Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver
Grand Theft Auto
You sure do like sports anime. :P I need to watch those, but I'm overwhelmed by my plan to watch list...
Oh, you play SNES! What are your favorite games on it? A few of mine are EarthBound, The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past, the Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Final Fantasy VI (originally III in the US), Killer Instinct, Mega Man X and Pac-Man 2. (I like many more PS1 games, though.) Did you ever play The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D on 3DS? The graphics are so much better than the original N64 version.
Yeah Boku no hero as a good cast. Some of my favourites are Todoroki, Deku, Kirishima and Uraraka (shipping her with Deku lol). My favourite is All Might though, I like how he isn't the typical mentor type but also has his own issues (considering his injury) & doubts (as a teacher). Which arc is your favourite so far?
