Thanks for accepting.
Big news: I was accepted to my first medical school yesterday afternoon!! As soon as I saw the acceptance email, I felt all sorts of pressure just evaporate from my shoulders. In fact, I just sent my formal resignation in for my job. The plan now is to cruise through whatever classes I have left and make the most of my time before graduation this spring.
Hope things are going well with university for you thus far! I'm interested in the new username--did you just feel like changing it?
Keeping your current job seems like a good idea. My job has been pretty chill as of late, thanks for asking. Almost all my shifts have been early morning weekend shifts which is great. I haven't worked a late afternoon or overnight shift in months, probably because they don't want me quitting. :-)
Atlanta huh. Don't know if you've figured this out yet from our previous conversations but I'm from the area. My summer was mostly working on apps, though I did take a week trip to NYC that was amazing. With a new academic year beginning, I hope things have started on the right foot for ya!
Glad to hear classes are going well. And it's nice that you've been able to work a chill job (I have a job in a hospital ED as a scribe that is very not chill). Have you been able to find another higher paying job? And how's the dean search committee been? Is there a special reason why your current dean is leaving?
From an outside perspective, I scored decent on the MCAT. But relative to my practice exams and academic abilities, I bombed the test. On top of that, the Situational Judgement Tests I've taken for my application went horrendously (thank god only a few schools require them). It's okay though because these shouldn't break my application.
I submitted my primary AMCAS application early June and secondary applications from all the med schools I've applied to began rolling in this July. It's so much work I feel a bit overwhelmed. Doesn't help that I've been procrastinating them lol.... Nonetheless, I've started setting hard deadlines for myself so I should start making decent progress on them by next week. The real enemy in this application process will be the interviews that come afterwards...
Any plans this summer?
As for me, I'm currently dying with the upcoming med school application cycle and MCAT. But what can you do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't think you've mentioned your job before. What do you do on campus?
Did you finish Akudama Drive and God of Highschool?
The therapy was about my pcos, I found out last year that I had it, and because of therapy I had mood swings, and some other side effects. It's not that serious in my case, at least for now (that's what the endocrinologist said), but I have to make sure I go for regular checkups just to make sure everything's stays ok.
Now I'm behind a couple of chapters T^T I'm sure they'll reconcile, since the story never got that dark to begin with, I wouldn't be surprised if Soo-won's health turned for the worse, but still, I'm hopeful that it'll have a feelgood ending, with a positive outcome for all the characters haha.
Have you been reading or watching much lately?
Again sorry for the late reply, hug ༼☯﹏☯༽
The cruise was really great thanks for asking. It was a nice break from all the things I have to do. How's 2023 been for you so far? I can't believe it's already February...
May you have a wonderful holiday season with your family! Family drama always sucks so best wishes towards having none over these next few weeks. As for me, I just got back from a cruise and don't have much planned for the rest of the break besides work and studying. I will have to work Christmas Eve/Day which is a bummer, but that got me New Year's Eve/Day off.
Happy 2023 if you don't hear back from me by then! I'm hoping this will be the first year where we don't have to hear about COVID everyday...
The concerts I went to last month were all so good:
Niki killed it as expected. Her opening act was a couple/duo called Sundial who were really wholesome. The parents of one the members of Sundial were sitting in front of me and my friend lol.
Joji was dumb enough to go on tour before he released his album, but his new album is a banger so I forgive him. Dhruv, his main opening act, had a fantastic live performance. He has a genuinely talented voice. Joji also brought along like 3 smaller artists who weren't that good but goofy as hell. The first song that one of these smaller artists performed was this...
I also saw Quavo briefly perform at a university basketball event. It was unimpressive tbh but I can still say that I saw him. Sadly, this was before Takeoff passed away.
Finally, the BLACKPINK show was costly asf, but I can now say that I saw their members live. It was about what you'd expect from a K-Pop concert--not a BLINK myself but its easy to see why they have such a big fanbase.
Holy crap, I'm so sorry you had to go through that in your research class. I know just how big of an allegation plagiarism is, so the fact that you have that on your record now is really unfortunate, even if your professor realized that it wasn't intentional. I hope the rest of your classes aren't giving you crap like that one did.
I don't know how much you're into college football, but my university has been going pretty crazy these past few years. I was actually lucky enough to get student tickets to one of the biggest games of the year (in probably all of college football, without paying hundreds of dollars), which was a lot of fun. Glad to hear that you've been able to find a good group to spend time with.
Other than that, my work, school, and research has been busier than ever. Doesn't help that I chose one of the hardest STEM majors -_-. Also sucks that I have to work 3 days out of my Thanksgiving break this week, but I was lucky enough to get Thanksgiving day off so I guess that is a plus.
Any plans for Thanksgiving/the holiday season? Hope you're doing great!
