My scoring is based on how much I enjoyed watching a show or movie. A high score isn’t always indicative of the media being perfect but should be used as a general rule of thumb. I’ve also tagged some key identifying qualities.
10 > An all-time favourite that I could revisit over and over again. The story concept is groundbreaking, and I enjoyed almost every second of it. I wish I could forget and watch it for the first time again.
9 > Still one of my favourites and presents itself almost perfectly. The concept is gripping and its characters are multifaceted. There are only a handful of moments I may not have loved.
8 > A great show or movie that I enjoyed from start to finish. It has a soul, and you can tell it has lots of love and thought put into it. It’s something I’d fondly look back at and recommend to others.
7 > It was a good piece of media that entertained me overall. It had some great scenes, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to rewatch it entirely. Probably had some things that bothered me, but nothing to make me hate it.
6 > Gripping and enticing at first glance, but cracks in its story and characters start to show as it goes on. I’m glad I watched it, and I may even recommend it to someone. But I’ll probably never touch it again.
5 > I wanted it to be good so badly but it ended up just being okay. I enjoyed bits and pieces of the story and characters, but that wasn’t enough to make me feel like my time was somewhat wasted. It wasn’t offensively bad, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
4 > This was an actively boring piece of media. Maybe it had some moments that didn’t make it outright horrible, but overall I regret watching it. The characters are one-dimensional and/or the story is cliche or outright dreadful. At this point, I have probably dropped the show.
3 > A trashy piece of media. Its artwork, description or popularity may have caught my eye, but after close inspection, it turned out to be utter shit. Almost nothing can be done to salvage it.
2 > This is essentially the lowest of lows. It has everything I hate about a show/movie in it. It’s either unwatchably bland or just outright bad. Nothing can save it now.
1 > The only reason I decided to watch this was due to a series of unfortunate events. I get aggravated trying to watch it and I probably couldn’t get past the first episode.
Masterpiece - I absolutely loved it! Its ideas are unique and is beautifully presented. Any downsides to this piece of media are immediately remedied by how much I enjoyed watching it.
Excellent Music - The music is beautiful, intense and overall breathtaking to listen to. It elevates the story into a piece of pure excellence.
Readaptation - It’s a readaptation of the source material. This is the recommended version to watch.
Standalone - Please for the love of god, just watch season one! This media can stand on its own and does not require the viewer to watch its sequel or prequel (e.g. season 2 or a movie).
Horrendous - This piece of media has actively insulted the viewer's time and intelligence. It has dropped the ball so tremendously, that simply referring to it would be a disservice to the intellectual property (e.g. The Avatar movie). This tag is often reserved for media that had a great beginning but has thrown all that away to create something truly awful.
