That does suck, but the silver lining is you're not effected by Vol 14 yet again being delayed!

Although the delay does make me a nervous about season 3. I spend more time reading analysis from source readers than actually watching Oregairu. The lack of Vol 14 might jeopardize those analysis essays that I love!

Incredible how badly that manga crashed and burned, but I'd be lying if I said I don't care what happens at this point. I still peek into the weekly /r/manga new chapter discussion threads to enjoy the every-increasing negativity in the comments.

Don't make the mistake I did; if you find yourself reading analysis for hours upon hours, just stop and read/reread the LNs.

Anime Gods forgive me, I didn't watch all of Super, but put it as completed.

Skipped the first 2 arcs since they were just bloated, lower quality versions of the last 2 movies.

Watched some of the fights in the Universe 6 tournament arc, with the Hit vs Goku fight being pretty good.

Watched a few episodes in the first half of the Future Trunks arc and then the final fights in the arc. A lot of it was dumb, but still entertaining fun.

Watched pretty much all of the final arc. Oh man did it drag through many of first half episodes. A few decent fights here and there, but we knew they didn't mean much in the scheme of things because of Jiren's looming presence as the final fight.

But damn did we get some hype fights towards the end. Damn good stuff. If it was just these best fights, I'd be giving it an 8. You'd definitely be best served watching a handful of the end fights and skipping everything else.

Overall though there were too many fluff fights that I didn't enjoy. Far more weeks waiting to get through the fluff than being hyped for upcoming episodes.

You ever binge it? Made In Abyss was quite good, with world-building and the OST being its strongest attributes.

I know we're beating a dead horse with discussing that manga, as it seems we've never changed our opposing views on it despite all our discussions. To save you reading, the TL;DR - I don't see their relationship as having a healthy emotional foundation, and found it more creepy than romantic.


I suppose one point of contention is how I use "grooming", which you're correct he did not groom her intentionally. Perhaps I should say "conditioning" instead.


Our young MC was "conditioned" to love the older mature, male lead by living with him for a period of time, where he serves as a stable, loving father-like figure in a loving home environment...something she had been lacking in her life. This blurring of the lines between "father-figure" and "love interest" is what bothered me about the manga.


While the manga does go out of it's way to make them seem more like roommates, the male lead is still the head of the household, and as such they are not on equal ground as household members. Add onto that they are not on equal ground in terms of emotional development, and we begin to have a recipe for the "conditioning".


But to address your insult, I'll contrast this manga with our very favorite manga, DomeKano(how is that shit show now?), which involves a similar dynamic with reversed gender roles. In DomeKano, despite its shittiness, the differences in emotional development are clearly addressed as problems for Natsuo and Hina's relationship. Despite Hina being a shittier person than the male lead in Taiyou no ie, she does break things off, the differences in their emotional development being a major reason for it.


And after spending 15 minutes writing this...I'm once again reminded why I had to cut back on my anime and manga consumption lol.

Damn it's been awhile. Was this the manga about an adult male bringing a vulnerable, teenage girl into his house and grooming her into a relationship with him?

I admit to enjoying some depraved anime/manga/other entertainment media, but only when it embraces it's depravity instead of trying to pass it off as genuine.

Or were you taking a swipe at me having been off the grid for so long? I'm barely been keeping up with airing anime and I'm way out of the loop on current manga. I miss those days.
