I’m totally happy as well. Sometimes I look back in shame cause I’ve always been told by my friends to watch it but I kept refusing to. It’s like I had this internalized thought in my brain that watching it was cringe and I wanted to have friends. The only thing that happened is that I came out of it with no new friends and basically all my old friends abandoned me or moved on which sucks. But hey, at least I love anime now. Weird how life works sometimes. I’m also mad for not watching earlier cause I have this hunger to watch so much anime. I want to explore all these new characters and universes and fully immerse myself in them. I love just forgetting myself in a good piece of fiction, and letting my brain rest for a while.

So yeah, looking forward as well! I’m happy to talk about these things and voicing them to someone so.. THANKS !

Yeah I totally understand and can sympathize with what you’re saying. I’ve been shy and quiet for most of my life. I haven’t been on MAL too much but there’s some genuinely really cool people on here ! I’ve had some really fun conversations with people and some I would even consider friends.

I actually only got into anime not too long ago ( 2023) even if I have been surrounded by it all my life. Most of my irl friends watch anime and I always was strictly against it because I wanted to fit in with the popular crowd. Turns out now it’s one of my biggest passions in life, strange how life works sometimes huh ? It wasn’t worth trying to be “cool” I should have started watching much earlier. lol

Cool ! Then we have all genre covered! I have nothing against the idea itself and love watching Yuri, I guess it’s just as I said before. I just can’t immerse myself into the story. But if you got it covered, we good.

It’s okay. I’ve come to live with myself and how I am. I’m generally opposed to making new friends cause I’m really shy and scared to be abandoned, stabbed in the back or betrayed once more so it’s not easy for me to make friends. I’m very cautious about any kind of human interaction and that’s probably the trauma in me rearing its ugly head. That’s why I became more active on Mal to try and talk to people. Meeting new humans and trying to make connections of any kind, even if it’s just bonding over anime we both enjoy. And I think it’s helping me.

Well generally speaking, I used to be very lonely in my childhood and teen days as well, but that sort of has carried over. I am still rather lonely these days and do not have many friends. But I have become accustomed to it and sort of accepted my fate so to say, lol.

I love Romance anime, though Fantasy, Action and Drama are also gerne I absolutely love. I just about watch anything as well, but I do have clear preferences like anyone. The only thing I do not watch is Yaoi, but that's just because I can't identify with it and wouldn't be able to enjoy the work as intended, I think.

Yeah I see! Well it is wonderful how everyone can perceive or consume Anime/Manga in whatever way they prefer. There is no right or wrong. It is all about the journey and how we take it.

I would say that anime is probably the most important hobby in my life since it allows me to escape from a reality I not always feel welcome in. What would you say your favorite genre are in anime?

Ohhhh OK yeah that makes a lot of sense I can understand what you mean. Sometimes I get curious and just read into the manga because the story is moving at a glacial pace in the anime (like in rent a gf... lol). But generally speaking I am someone that likes to go into projects as an anime only, be surprised by the plot twists and just enjoy the visual spectacle while I watch. To me the impact just isn't there as much if the visuals are missing, the impactful music is not there, or the wonderful voice acting that the Japanese actors tend to put into their work is missing (Which is also why I just can't watch shows dubbed). If I actually do read a manga it's because I know the anime, know how the characters are supposed to sound like, how the soundtrack is and so on. I think you get my point. And yeah I totally get what you mean, following action in the manga format is really hard.

I will never blame anyone for reading manga but it's just not for me. Reading has never been my strong suit I prefer seeing things and then forming my opinions based on what I saw.

I get that but for me personally I just enjoy the anime much more. I don't really enjoy reading anymore these days which is why I don't read too many Manga. There's something about the visual spectacle that just captivates me so much more than reading it on a page I don't know. So for now I will be patient and wait because I just prefer it that way. But if you do end up reading then I wish you a lot of fun!
