1 Steins:gate
I originally didnt expect much from steins gate. I was just getting back into anime and wanted to watch a time travel show. What came after was an emotional rollercoaster. I was on a depressed state and this showed me what depression really can be (steins gate 0 too). I genuinely hadnt cried so much over a show before, it was genuinely so fricking painful / insane watching Okabe go through such a hardship and then at the end succeed with a great way, that gives sense in the time travel world. I loved the characters always trusting okabe (also villians) and it made for an even greater story. Its such a masterpiece. I genuinely cant say any other anime that has had such an emotional impact on me, yet.. Lol You never know if something better comes.

2 Attack on titan
this genuinely is the anime of the decade, it starts off amazing showing how ruthless the world is on aot and continues to show. Characters arent allowed to live just because they serve the plot, everyone can die, and thats what makes it amazing. The reason i rated it lower than steins gate is deaths didnt feel like it had as much of an emotional impact like in steins gate. I didnt cry once and it felt lacking in the emotional impact of death. The ending as you mentioned was amazing. Still was such an amazing show to watch a masterpiece in world building, characters and story.

3 A silent voice
Now this was also an early show i watched. I just really could relate to the main character a ton. I havent bullied anyone (or so i think lol), but the main character being depressed and suicidal, but then giving life another chance was just super relatable. Also not being able to see others in a good light and then the x’s dropping from the face after, the visuals were amazing. It was just a short movie, but it had forgiveness topics, depression, and friendship, all in just 1,5 hours. Which was just amazing and a masterpiece.

4 Clannad: After story
This anime is the best sequel to an anime you could ask for. Clannad the first anime was a 7/10 for me but it became a 10/10 in the final 18 ish episodes of after story. Basically for me it displayed how hard parenting can be, it got me to cry a ton. The happy ending just made it an emotional rollercoaster kinda like steins gate.

5 Re:zero
This anime is very much like steins gate but feels like a continuation of steins gate. There is depression, hope and finally a good conclusion to each episodes, some episodes in themselves feel like a genuine masterpiece in just the episode alone. I mean consider how many people simp rem and its just from one episode. Its also peak entertainment for me I watched it all in just a couple days, it was a very much entertaining version of steins gate, and thats why i say its top 5.
