Anime and Manga Shopping Blog: Week #15
Week entry number fifteen? Well damn, I figured I'd quit doing this for now but, yeah I wonder how much money I've spend since starting this blog, if anyone cares to do so, you can go total it up by going through each and every blog post... Seriously go do it.
P.S. This week is a little one, just one dvd set and two manga.
ANIME:This week I got a bone to pick with Funimation.
Despite there's no suicidal teachers or pirates to speak of, one man armies are covered, Sengoku Basara 2: The Complete Series Limited Edition (Blu-ray/DVD Combo), released by Funimation.

Yep, it's another super special awesome dvd/blu ray set from Funimation, with the chip-board case housing the dvd blu ray case and a filler box to be replaced by your previously purchased season one box set, right? Nothing seems wrong at first glance, it's nice, with Yukimura Sanada and Date Masamune facing each side (Personally I'd prefer Date, "PUT THE GUNS ON!" is one of the best bizarre lines I've ever had the pleasure to listen to), and by now you're thinking "Imma gonna have have a good ass time, now let's throw out that filler case!"
Hold it! Keep that case on hand for those who bought the season one dvd set, you know the first set Funimation released, because unlike the Spice&Wolf set I reviewed, there's something very different between Sengoku and Spice, the Sengoku set is actually shorter, to the length of a Blu Ray case, meaning... If you want to fit season 1 into the chip board casing, you literally have to buy season 1 blu ray combo pack, which was released the same time as this set...
It's not that I'm accusing Funimation of any sort, but this is some ole' bullshit for me atleast, especially since any one would have expected for the size to be the same for all the others.
DO I Recommended It? Sure if you enjoyed season 1, then go buy this one, $45.99 isn't as well used here for a smaller than expected set, but it would sure look great with your season 1 combo set....

MANGA: As for books, only two volumes, Kodansha and Yen Press.
Up first, and finally caught up on, Negima! volume 33, released by Kodansha.

There is, once again, nothing that can't be said about this one I didn't already said in earlier blog posts, but for me, since 2009 I have always been behind the latest volumes of the series, but with this one, I'm happy to say I finally caught up.
Though you tell Kodansha is getting lazy with the translations as the next time on the next page, they did not remove the japanese writing and even left the japanese release date on it, it doesn't harm the overall volume in any way, but it's clear laziness.

And finally, the continuation of everyone's favorite brigade leader, The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya volume 11, released by Yen Press.

More Haruhi antics!? Hells yeah! And lot's of tantalizing pages to begin with too (In color!). But with all seriousness, only those who buy the series regularly will be interested, others can go catch up, with $11.99 for overall average manga volumes per volume of this series.
OVERALL: Funimation tries more shameless marketing and corner cutting and manga is still of the usual quality.
B, a simple B, nothing more nothing less.
Next week, I don't know, maybe pirates and the other stuff I promised.
