Anime and Manga Shopping Blog: Week #19 Full Metal Sensei
Anime Relations:
Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos
Okay, this one will be a very short one this week because honestly, I really really tried to get more than what I will present here, which is only two things... Two things worth making a blog post about however.
But before I get into it, big announcement about the shopping blog... Yeah another hiatus is coming up... But after the hiatus, even more stuff will be shown and updated more frequently to the point of having two updates a week instead of every other week. Okay those updates will be consisted of stuff that myself and my future room mate will purchase, but it'll be great to start covering much more stuff than before.
ANIME: Just one, but one that almost all anime fans have waited for, from Funimation.
You know what? I really liked this movie, did it live up to ungodly expectations? Somewhat, not in the way that most fans wanted, but why fault the creators when there was nothing left to do with the series except do something like this? Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: The Sacred Star of Milos Movie (Blu-ray/DVD Combo), released by Funimation.

I going to say this straight out to all those who talked shit about this movie, this movie isn't even as close as bad as the mass majority who seen it said it is, it's not even boring either. It might not be as good as the original tv series, Conqueror of Shambala, or Brotherhood, but that is an insanely high bar of quality to meet (Yes, Conqueror of Shambala is also not a bad movie, but this is not the time to talk about that). I'm sorry, but what the fuck were any of you expecting? There's nothing left to be done with the franchise at this point than to make a movie like this. The plot's competent, the animation is at the franchise's best, and is overall really enjoyable.
But anyway, if you want me to go in detail about it, then I just may do so, but this is a review of the product, not the movie so let me get right back on track. I got the blu ray/dvd edition of the movie because I'd be an idiot not to, though I love that the dvd case doesn't have that blue column that the blu ray version has, the price is only five dollars more than the dvd's price, which is $14.99 retail (Do the math).
It comes with a very nice slip cover, and an entire disk of extras that include stuff like a making of the film and various extras. But to me what really stands out the the actual cover of the movie case, I'm sorry it really screams epic to me.
The Price: As I mentioned before, the blu ray combo is only $19.99 (Full retail is $34.98, but I dount anyone will pay that) and regular dvd is $14.99 so if you're still in the dark ages (Like myself) the dvd is very affordable.
Do I Recommend It? I say screw the nay-sayers, this is a very enjoyable film and at a very agreeable price. Bravo Funimation, they never let down when it comes to their flagship series.

MANGA: This week just one, and Kodansha delivers a rather embarrassing one at that.
It's not that I think Kodansha is lazy or anything, but here's Negima! volume 34, released by Kodansha Comics.

This is probably one of the most pulse pounding volumes I've read in the series, but there is something I really can't let go unnoticed... The table of contents... Really Kodansha?

For a better look go here, but what this shows is that the order of chapters is incorrect, 311 313 then 312. I don't know what kind of editing the negima volumes go through but this is really embarrassing for them... Especially considering this volume go up to chapter 314... I know I'm kinda harping on them for this, but if you don't want people to talk shit, then you can't make mistakes like this.
Noteworthy Feature: In the back, the very back there's an advertisement for a new manga series Kodansha is releasing this summer, Attack On Titan also known as Shingeki no Kyojin, it's something I'm really looking forward to checking out.
OVERALL: Kodansha can learn something from Funimation, but it's not the end of world because of a mistake as long as it isn't a reoccurring one it's not a total big deal.
A simple B for this week.
And like I said up above, the blog is going back on hiatus until June, but when it comes back, expect more than ever before.

Okay. . . My initial feelings for the FMA movie is starting to seriously wane. I'm a little too over enthusiastic about the movie.
