Absolute cinema!

The first episodes hook you with a mystery, a relatable character, and a plot twist that isn’t resolved in the entirety of the first season.

The anime jumps through time, revealing the origins of each main player while that cliffhanger lingers in the back of your mind — and it’s not the only one. The show teases multiple unresolved threads with every new character, yet you’re not even mad, because the writing is just that good.

And the animation, man, this is what happens when the animators has a blank check and complete freedom to go wild. It jumps from one artstyle to the next, ... from wester comics, to CGI and traditional 2D anime style animation, with action peaking at Solo Leveling levels. The last episode even blows Demon Slayer out of the water. The only animated movie that comes close in comparison is Spider-Verse, so if you've see that, you know what to except. This is peak amd I can't wait for the next season enough.

To Be Hero X is an anime that presents a world where anyone can become a superhero, as long as the population trusts them. And in this world where the strength and power of people are determined by their level of “Trust Value”, there is also evil that lurks in the dark and forms conspiracies to bury or create superheroes to push its plans forward and shape the world and history as it sees fit… Will the world succumb to fear and darkness or will the truth and light prevail?
Action-packed and with top-notch animation, this anime offers stories of diverse characters with different origins and ... motivations to become the greatest hero on Earth and receive the “X” title, and hopefully, use it for the best.



📖Story: 6/10
The storytelling isn’t strong and sometimes the story unfolds in a strange way that lacks cohesiveness. Some episodes are boring and there are a few time skips within episodes, which is a little confusing. The anime also tends to put a lot of focus on the corporate world that involves the heroes, and that isn’t very enjoyable to watch in my opinion, but the story gets somewhat interesting after the 12th episode.

🎨Art: 10/10
This is the anime’s strongest point, its art style and animation are very authentic and well made. Uses a unique mix of 3D and 2D animation in which both of them look great.

🎧Sound: 6/10
There’s nothing special about the sound. Some of the music is good but the rest is just regular, and the same applies to the sound effects.

👥Characters: 7/10
Now, the characters are fairly well developed and feel real, but their motivations and way of thinking look odd, from time to time.

👏Enjoyment: 6/10
Although the art and the fights are really good, I didn’t like the story that much, so my overall enjoyment wasn’t as high as it could have been. I also feel like this anime is mostly made for consumption, so it isn’t that profound, thought-provoking or has complex themes to present and discuss - it’s mainly entertainment.

📄Side notes: The Trust Value power system is an interesting one, but I think it’s a little inconsistent and badly-written. Sometimes it looks like it only covers plot holes and serves like a convenient explanation to some situations.
In my opinion, the second half of the anime (episodes 13-24) is way better than the first one (episodes 1-12).



📜Overall: 7/10
So, To Be Hero X is a visually astonishing anime with a story that feels a bit bland and not that deep or emotionally impactful, even though it tries to be. It is watchable, but I’m not sure if I would recommend it to someone else, especially considering its poor first half.
If you just want to watch a good-looking anime and don’t care too much about the story, you will probably have fun with this one! However, if you want something with more than just visuals, I would not recommend it.

One of the few pieces of media where in 24 episodes they are incapable of telling a cohesive complete story. The show starts with an intriguing premise and world building, but diverges to flashback after flashback about origin story of cameos characters in previous episodes without much relation to the original plot at all. The writer expect you to care about random characters with no context for why they even matter to the original plot. instead the background characters in these flashbacks are the only ones with worthwhile information to the setting and world building. The viewer is left with way more questions than ... answers after finishing the show. It feels like watching 1 hour of ads just to watch a 20 min video. The only reason it still deserve a 7 is the amazing animation and music.

Id recommend watching this once they actually finish the whole story in season 2.
