After having descended upon this world, the gods have created guilds where adventurers can test their mettle. These guilds, known as "familia," grant adventurers the chance to explore, gather, hunt, or simply enjoy themselves.

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Gaiden: Sword Oratoria begins in Orario, the lively city of adventures. The Sword Princess, Ais Wallenstein, and the novice mage, Lefiya Viridis, are members of the Loki Familia, who are experts at monster hunting. With the rest of their group, they journey to the tower of Babel in hopes of exploring the dungeon underneath. Home to powerful monsters, the dungeon will fulfill Ais's desire to master her sword skills, while bringing Lefiya closer to her dream of succeeding Riveria Ljos Alf, vice-captain of the Loki Familia, as the most powerful mage in the land.

Another spin-off show derived from the main Danmachi series,just like the Arrow of Orion movie . And once again i watched after season 5 instead of when i should have. But thanks to that .... insight i can formulate factual complaints about this show as well.

Well... Unlike The Arrow of Orion who is not only a spin-off but also a standalone story,Sword Oratoria is a spin-off series that makes the first season feel more complete. In this season we follow the second strongest famila around,that being Loki familia. Before i mention the bad i will mention the good. While this series isn't really that pivotal ... to the main one, it does bring light on some characters, especially Ais and the elf Lefiya,while also filling the blanks during the first season. Frankly it's what The Arrow of Orion should have been as well. Talking about the 12 episode format that is. The movie was rushed and it suffered greatly. This show was not.

Now for the bad....Same issue the movie creates. You are introduced to a new threats like the corrupted spirits and the redhead hybrid,new characters like Lefiya,Filvis and Dionysus,right? Well, none of these characters and monsters appear ever again. If i remember right Lefiya might have appeared,but not as a character that plays any role. Spin-off or not these characters are still part of the world,never being heard of again makes no sense,and it devalues the story itself as a whole. And even if you forget about the characters, the whole plot point about Ais having spirit blood is also never mentioned again.

It's only a better watch because it still fills up blanks on situation in the first season.So it still ties with the main story.

Mixed Feelings

What has to be a story from Ais Wallenstein POV very quickly became a story about Lefiya Viridis, who is one of the worst characters in the whole series. Useless, annoying, clingy but “nice” girl who want to grow up to be like her hero, Ais in this situation.

There were a lot of interesting points in the season. We could have learned about Ais past, her mother, the antagonist of this season, some new lore about Loki guild, Freyas games behind the scene etc., but ultimately this season didn't develop anything of it. What's going on with guild? But no, we won't have answers to ... those questions. But here, take 8 episodes about Viridis being jealous and clingy to Ais.

In the end, it doesn't do anything to the main show and in the end was a waste of time. Maybe if there were more seasons from Ais POV it would be better, but as it is now, just watch the mainline show and don't bother with Sword Oratoria at all. Verdict: 3 out of 10.

This anime is a spinoff of the original as the story focuses on the Loki Familia during the first season of Danmachi. They were in a middle of dungeon exploration until an evil organization Evilus came back to reek havoc on both adventurers and the city or Orario. Amidst the chaos, Information regarding Ais Walestine was brought back to her Familia's attention and they would investigate on the matter. Meanwhile, Ais encountered the main character of the original anime Bell and saves him. She would later develop emotions as a result of the encounter. Good concept to explore Ais' character but poorly executed.

The relation between ... Ais and Bell was already established and there were only few to no new original scenes regarding their relationship as the notable ones were reused from the original anime. This anime would also shoehorn Leifiya, an elf as a main character as she would take up a lot of screen time whether it be her with her yuri nonsense with Ais or the other female members of the Loki Familia notably Tiona and Tione or trying to scare off Bell from getting any closer to Ais out of jealously.



This anime was way too focused on Leifiya and her yuri fantasies with Ais. It was supposed be focused on Ais and her perspective alongside the her Familia. All and all, not much can be spoken about since they reused scenes from the original anime and Leifiya pretty much ruined what good there is to me as a viewer of both the original anime and manga.
