Shin Godzilla (Godzilla Resurgence!)
Anime Relations: Yu☆Gi☆Oh!
Since I reviewed the other Godzilla movies I've watched I think it's fair I review the new Godzilla movie. And Boy does Shin Godzilla deserve a review!
Its interesting how Godzilla got an American and a Japanese reboot within Just a couple of years of each other. The American one definitely did better than the original American "Zilla". Shin Godzilla puts that one to shame! By how much? Shin Godzilla is the top selling Godzilla in Japan of all time! That's how much.
**WARNING SPOILERS**
From start to end Shin Godzilla is an entertaining watch, it keeps you hooked and going. Except maybe the very first 3 minutes(opening credits big surprise) there was not a moment I did not enjoy watching Godzilla. Shin Godzilla went in a unique direction by having the movie start out with like a Proto Godzilla. For the first half of the movie it's all about Godzilla slowly evolving into final form Godzilla. And I have to say this is the most terrifying Godzilla I have ever seen from the moment he slithers up onto land all hacking up tons of blood untill he's fully formed with his beady little sunken in eyes HE..IS.. HORRIFYING. The moment that got me the most is when the full military might of the Japanese lay down on Godzilla. The tanks barrage and then they shoot missiles Bam Bam Bam. Godzilla is engulfed in a cloud of smoke. The Japanese are celebrating and then Godzilla just leans out of the smoke all terrifying with his beady eyes and jagged smile. That has gotta be one of my favorite sequences the whole movie. The movie itself is just all-around entertaining.
I have to say the acting in this Godzilla is good. I don't think it was overly cheesy, it wasn't overly dramatic either. Like I feel like the acting was on point. The soundtrack was pretty good as well. It generally flows smoothly with whats happening.
There's a point in the movie where Godzilla just goes away they didn't beat him he just goes away and the Japanese are acting all normal again all the damage wasn't that bad and there's a happy little song playing at the same time. I just found it kind of funny since Godzilla comes back a few minutes later and just starts wrecking stuff up again.
The overall look of the movie is amazing. There is a perfect mix of practical effects and CGI. Everything just looks so real in beautiful. The overall reactions of the people and the layout of the government just makes the movie in general feel more realistic.
My final thoughts, everything about Shin Godzilla meshes well and works great. Shin Godzilla is defiantly my fav Godzilla movie thus far. It's as if the Japanese seem to have retorted "Pfft you think that's a good Godzilla Americans? We will show you!" And damn did they ever!

Gundam G-Savior!
Anime Relations: Kidou Senshi Gundam
G-Saviour (2000) is a Canadian live-action television film created as part of the Gundam franchise. Set as an alternate future of the Universal Century timeline.
The idea of creating a live action Gundam movie for the 20th anniversary was a good one for the time, it was just executed horribly. Not everything involving Gundam is perfect but G-Saviour has to be the worst. So much so that it doesn't even have the word Gundam in the title, its not even said once in the movie.
The studio made a good choice creating new suits for the movie since using pre-established ones would have been a let down. In my opinion even for the time the CGI was crap! The only decent scene in the whole movie is CGI in a completely CGI enviroment. For being a Gundam movie set in the universal century nothing looks right. The whole movie looks like crap ripped off from other movies. The soldiers look like they were ripped right from Starship Troopers, the Zeon equivalent wear two bit Nazi uniforms, and one of the space colonies wears African stuff.
All the little annoying crap could be forgiven if it weren't for one thing. That the whole movie is absolutely boring! every second of it is boring from beginning to end. The storyline is poor and the actors are garbage. None of them know how to emote.
Bottom line is G-Saviour should be white washed. It should never be talked about again! So unless you are a die hard Gundam fan and need to add it to the list just pass it by.

Dark Prince Yaoi Press.
Anime Relations: Yu☆Gi☆Oh!
Dark Prince is another Yaoi title from Yaoi press. I can't seem to find an entry for this manga so I will put my opinion here.
Score: 5 (Average)
Volumes read: 2 - Dropped
Dark Prince on paper has an interesting premises. A young prince with a special connection to his god murders young boys for that very god. Throw in some more gods and some incestuous relationships and sounds like its going to be an amusing good time. Sadly its just run of the mill.
After reading full two volumes the story didn't really pick up or get a really good flow till towards the end of the second volume. The story itself suffers from amateurish writing and the lack of progress due to it constantly bring up the same info over and over again.
Erotic yaois are not really expected to have deep engaging stories. This is usually over looked in favor of better art and erotic angles. Dark Prince does nether well. The art seems to waiver in quality at times. It's never really great in general. Dark Prince is a mature only Manga but its still not a Hentai so it doesn't actually show anything which means use of angles and position is the key. DP isn't even good at this. This is the most disappointing aspect of Dark Prince.

Attack on Titan: The Movie prt 1
Anime Relations: Shingeki no Kyojin
Watched Oct 1 2015 Score 6 (okay)/ 2(horrible)
I have had both good and bad experiences with live action adaptations. So when it was Attack on Titans turn I didn't know what to think. After seeing some trailers and neat Japanese commercials I decided I was in. Well The special showing came around and I got to say it was an interesting experience.
Yes. This movie is both simultaneously good and completely horrible. Let me explain.
I will get the bad out of the way. The movie is NOTHING like the anime. If you are expecting a faithful or even a partly faithful adaptation ohhhh think again. Basically all they took was the uniforms and the titans. They even took liberties with the titans.
They completely changed the story then tried to shove key moments from the anime in even though they make no sense now. There you have it that is why it was horrible. Attack on Titan in name only.
BUT
If you can get over that its not a good adaptation just go in to watch it it's actually not bad. It was really cool seeing the colossus Titan. The movie does have some eye widening moments. It was kind of like a car crash. Bad but you just cant turn away you want to see more. It truly is entertaining to watch.

Godzilla Vs Megalon
Anime Relations: Yu☆Gi☆Oh!
Godzilla isn't an anime but It is classic Japanese monster movies so I feel it should be fair game at least in blogs. Of coarse we have to attach an anime sorry not Yu Gi Oh.
Godzilla Vs Megalon (6.fine)
Dun Dun Dun Godzilla Vs Megalon Tag Team Monster smack down of monster proportions!
Godzilla Vs Megalon is the 13th Godzilla installment released in 1973. I Don't know how they can call this a Godzilla movie. Its fallows the other hero Jet Jaguar a robot way more.Basically the whole time. So more like Jet Jaguar with Godzilla Cameo!
This entree in the series is a lot more campy. From the actions of the monsters , the secret agents, all the way down to even how the monsters fight. I personally thought there were way to many sound effects in this one. I personally didn't enjoy the campyness compared to destroy all monsters. But it was still a fun movie.
I think Jet Jaguar is a cool tag partner for Godzilla. And Megalon is a sweet monster. I really dug his design.

Anime Relations: Yu☆Gi☆Oh!

Godzilla Destroy All Monsters (7. Good)
So I just started watching the Godzilla movies. Not really any particular order ether.
Destroy All monsters is 9th in the Godzilla line being released in 1968. I personally quit enjoy the movies. I appreciate practical effects over the effects used now a days.
Its hard to take the movies truly seriously but D.A.M has a bit of a serious tone. In a nutshell. The kaiju all live on monster island at this point. Some aliens take over some humans then start controlling many of the monsters. The monsters attack all over the world. And finally it comes down to a bunch of monsters brawling.
The fighting is particularly impressive I felt and were fierce.
I truly miss the old school sciency aspirations people had way back when. Anything and everything was possible even if some of it made no sense or was impossible.
