Egan is a character of the day who appeared in Some Like it Hot (EP242).
Egan is a Fire-type Trainer, and like Misty, he wanted to catch and raise only Pokémon of his preferred type. As a result, he wanted a giant Magcargo that was blocking Ash and his friends' path towards Blackthorn City. However, the Magcargo was very powerful, and Egan's first attempt to battle it ended in failure.
His impulsive behavior and sharp comments sparked an intense rivalry with Misty over whether Fire-types or Water-types were the best. Over lunch, Misty decided to settle their differences, and the pair began to get along. Egan had a rematch against the Magcargo and, after heeding Misty's advice of adaptability in a match, defeated and caught it. Misty and Egan teamed up to defeat Team Rocket with a combined Flamethrower and Water Gun attack.
