Where did all the good RPG maker horror games go??

The only "new" one I can think of (with a decent playtime) is Cat In The Box, and that came out years ago.

I recently learned that Ao Oni is still going strong - a new one came out earlier this year. A bit of a surprise to me, as I thought it was just the one game (and the anime...) but there's quite a lot of sequels / spinoffs.

There's a lot of horror rpgm games that are untranslated but a few recent ones that are:

Cell of Empireo
Black Souls
Towelket series
End Roll
Witch's Heart
N.P.C.Dreams
Rashe to Ikenie no Mura

There's not a lot of good rpgm games being made frequently outside of Japan/China. You can always use mtl or just wait for translations.

Why would anyone want to play an rpg maker game? Aren't those games typically of shoddy quality?
