Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu. Episode 11 Discussion

FINALLY WE GOT SOME OFFICIAL YURI IN MY LESBIAN MANGAKA STORY!! About damn time we got a Nashida and Nekonote focused episode and of course it ends up being one of the best so far! That Nashida x Toko date was everything to me.

I totally empathize with Nashida being worried about filling in Takizawa’s work for the spin off. “Your fans are too crazy” is how I imagine every meeting goes between the spin off author and original author in a franchise. You don’t want to trample on what the OG author’s already done, but at the same time you want to expand on the story and show a side of the characters that people may not have seen before. Delicate balance especially for Nashida coming off just getting her own manga axxed, but Takizawa lifting her up with her own personal stories of cancellations is great! Dr. Seuss failed a lot too, so did Michael Jordan and really anyone who’s ever been great. You can only be great because you’ve failed and learned from those experiences. I know Nashida’s gonna kill it after getting some romantic experience with Toko.

SPEAKING OF THE TOKO DATE, “I definitely want a girlfriend like her” Nashida, girl I don’t blame you at all for falling in love at first sight with Toko lol. She truly is an angel and the fact she doesn’t think of herself as special makes her all the more angelic. Reminds me a lot of Ajisai from watanare actually! Not Futami and Ha-san stalking them on their date while they’re supposed to be showing Nekonote around lmao.

On the topic of Nekonote, I’m so proud of her coming to Tokyo, getting out the house and meeting the girls in person. It’s so important for her personal and career development to establish close relationships with people like this. Everyone treating her like the little sister of the group because of her age is so sweet too! It’s a wildly chaotic workplace, but it just works and you can tell she’s really happy.. Futami better make sure Nashida doesn’t steal her tho lol.

Only complaint with this episode is Takizawa sensei talking about the romantic stuff needing to be from the girl’s perspective in shoujo. There’s quite a few Shojosei works where we see the guy’s heart fluttering and falling for the girl!

Probably one of the best episodes in this series, at least for me. There are two episodes left, but yeah... I'll give this series a 05/10 because of this episode. Loved it so much.😄

Nekonote was able to gain a lot of experience by watching Futami and everyone work together. It's really a mangaka's weirdly wonderful workplace. Nashida was too easy to please when Nekonote praised her 😅😅

Even Takizawa-sensei had it rough in her early days. Nashida to get experience on love for the spinoff story had a beautiful date with Toko.
Toko is really a dream come true kinda girlfriend. What a sweetheart she was !!
I definitely thought that Nashida wouldn't control herself and would endup kissing her at the end of the date 🤣😂
We saw Nekonote's face finally when she was sleeping at the end 😄😄❤️
