"Meitantei Precure!"
Naaah, you don't need this. Several years ago I tried to get into Precure again after dropping the original when it started airing on RTL2...and yeah, its seasons may have a decent arc here and there (if the villains are interesting enough), but it's mostly a slog with really annoying toy commercial segments which are presented as upgrades, but it's obvious what they are doing with those. (For comparison My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic did that way more subtle and sold a lot of toys.)
This season I made an exception, because of the "great detective" element in the title gave me hope that the formula will be refreshed a bit, but:
1. The characters are so overdesigned in such way that it makes them somehow obnoxiously cute.
2. The detective elements are horrible even for children's show. (For comparison Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katri no Nazotoki File is a way better meitantei product for this demography, not to mention HanaKana is killing it as Katrielle Layton.)
My conclusion is - Meitantei Precure! doesn't stand out in comparison to the rest of the franchise. Nothing to write home sort of speak. Drop.
"Is it better to watch stuff the day it releases to talk with everyone else and "be on the loop""
1. I don't care much about discussing, just I am impatient person.
2. Not every show will get better subs...my guess is very few will.
3. Some of the official subs are not that bad (till we go full AI with no human editors).
| @alshu it the same friggin' complain about Kimi To Idol, that it wasn't an Idol show because it didn't have enough Idol thing and the same complain of Kamen Rider Ex-Aid by some random non-fan of Kamen Rider on IMDB, that it had a theme yet it didn't follow suit and it ended with endless fighting. I don't know exactly what you expect, the themes of these shows are just a topping but the fights are what counts. The same with EVERY SINGLE HENSHIN HERO TOKUSATSU MADE FROM THE GEKKO KAMEN MOVIES AT LEAST (which I have watched, at least the first two), henshin heroes of which the Precures are a 1:1 rendition on animated form. The theme is there but it's a complement, not the main thing. I write this as a person who didn't enjoy the first two episodes of Metantei like I enjoyed the Masterpiece that is Kimi To Idol, Kaito Prick permitted. See Zeztz, the theme of dreams is there but it's just a topping, it doesn't go deep nor it tries because it's not what the Kamen Rider is about. The Kamen Rider is about men or (sexy) women in suit fighting between themselves, not about exploring the psyche etc. etc. etc. Even when there is actual social and political commentary like in the case of Toshiki Inoue and Kamen Rider Faiz/Changerion/Tekkoku Mikazuki/Cutie Honey the Live/etc. etc. etc., the fights is where the main meat and potatoes is at. Not the theme. |
