I nominate Medalist.

Raw talent isn't always enough—you need the right person to believe in you. Medalist pairs a late-starting prodigy with a coach chasing his own second chance, turning competitive figure skating into an emotional, hard-earned climb. It's less about winning medals and more about persistence, trust, and the cost of chasing a dream.

I nominate Apocalypse Hotel

Apocalypse Hotel is not your ordinary post-apocalyptic slice-of-life hotel anime. Throughout the series, you may find yourself questioning whether it is truly a hotel-themed anime at all. With its heartwarming soundtrack and breathtaking visuals, Apocalypse Hotel feels warm, hilarious, exciting, empty, sad, mysterious, and beautiful all at the same time.

I nominate Umamusume Cinderella Grey

2025 is truly the year of Umamusume revolution from game to anime. While the game is global phenomenon the anime airing Cinderella Grey took a vastly different approach.
A story about a country (horse)girl who just love running discovering her passion and a dream. Her journey Kasamatsu to Tokyo is truly captivating. Off track a silly glutton but on field a beast. But the story is also just not about. Her rivals and friends has also amazing stories on their own. Each of them justifying their own role as Cinderella.

α—œΛ¬α—œ Fufufu~ of course going to choose Watanare -`β™‘´-

Watanare follows Amaori Renako, an introvert girl who tries to reinvent herself for a true high school experience by being more lively, only to accidentally become the most sought‑after limited‑edition Yuri collectible. Instead of gaining normal friendships, she’s suddenly drowning in girls having crushes on her she never ordered, like she walked into school and triggered a hidden romance‑route speedrun. Watching her panic‑navigate this accidental harem is exactly the kind of delightful chaos Yuri lovers devour.

I nominate Chainsaw Man Movie: Reze-hen

2025 has been both a year of Umamusume and Tatsuki Fujimoto, but since Umas have been nominated already, I'll go with the insane blockbuster animated movie of the year. Once of a kind experience in the theaters with some of the most beautiful OST of the year.

I nominate BanG Dream! Ave Mujica.
https://xss.now.cc/anime/56653/BanG_Dream_Ave_Mujica

An unconventional and psychological girls' band anime that you wouldn't see anywhere before. You need to watch BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! before this series. However, you don't need to watch the entire BanG Dream! franchises before this. Well, you can watch all of them if you want.

I nominate Silent Witch

Silent Witch is the fantasy, mage-craft version of Bocchi the Rock, with a compelling plot and a lovable cast of characters. The adorable Monica Everett will freeze in place and stammer over her words all while secretly outperforming her peers at magic on every level. She has to undertake an undercover mission to protect an important student at the school in an exciting story that will leave you demanding a sequel.

It's here! Straight on the heels of the last tournament, it's another one which comes up quick and catches me unawares despite my probably should have had foreknowledge and been expecting it.

I nominate Tasokare Hotel.

Short description/synopsis for the interest stack: Straddling the precipice between our world - Earth and the material realm, and the mystery of the afterlife beyond, lies Tasokare Hotel in the liminal twilight dimension. A schoolgirl driven to its grounds, unsure of her past, her identity, why she's here, or where she's going. Join her in finding out what awaits: What macabre or beautiful mysteries will it reveal to you?

Glad I popped onto the forum and noticed this notification early, in under an hour, as opposed to 10 hours later as could easily be the case. Though in the case of my nominee, I don't know how much difference it would have made as I could also easily see it not being snatched up regardless of the amount of time elapsed.

Do I expect it to win? No. Do I expect it to even necessarily get that far? No. So why am I nominating it? I feel as if I have to be true to my heart and preferences here. For a series that became my favorite of the winter season, last winter season, very early into that season, and then remained my favorite by the end of the season, and then remained my favorite as we continued into the spring and moved and progressed further through the year through summer and autumn, and still stood perched atop my favorites as we reached year's end, I'm possessed by a sense of owing it at least that much.

Now, there are still series on my to-do and formal or informal plan to watch lists for 2025. Maybe eventually I'll see something released from this year which tops it, but I haven't yet. Except perhaps Arknights season 3, but that has its own problems (not that Tasokare Hotel doesn't - as virtually all anime do), their rating for me is the same, and as I state repeatedly I don't like to mix in and rank series new in their season and their year together with older continuing and returning ones.

It was one of those rare comedy anime that's genuinely funny. I thought the voice acting was excellent too and I liked all of the characters as well as the music

I nominate Dragon Ball Daima

Akira Toriyama's back to the roots story celebrates everything Dragon Ball from the past 40 years in a fun adventure filled with comedy and the greatest animated fights.

(I was going to mention OPM 3 just for lolz, then read continuing titles from fall '24 also count so switched to Daima)
