I think it would be an awesome MMORPG.

Things it already has that are awesome:

1. Saving capabilities (When you die you lose all the items and experience you gained between the time that you last saved and the time of your death. After dieing you respawn at the last visited server home town.)
2. Servers (There are multiple servers but they are accesible by all characters on all servers. They are not restricted to the server they made the character on. So it's never like, "ahh i made a character thats high level on this server already... Damn since your on that server I have to make a brand new character... I don't think I wanna do that..." In the actual game everyone starts at Mac Anu the Aqua Capital but I think it should be random. In each server there is a server home town with a Chaos gate.)
3. Chaos Gate (In each server home town there is a "Chaos Gate". You may use this gate to get to different locations like different areas and server towns (servers). To get to different areas all you do is select 3 different keywords/phrases to make one 3 part phrase, depending on that 3 part phrase, there are near unlimited different types of areas you can go to. Going from server to server is just as easy as opening the menu and clicking the server.)
4. Headset (This part is just awesome. The headset has first person view from your character. Built-in microphone and headphone. Best of all the head set has a screen built into the front of it. So it's almost like virtual reality. It should have an accelerometer so that you can actually move your head around to look around. The sound quality should be as if you are right next to the person.)
5. Controller based (This is a MMORPG that you use a controller with no keyboard needed. Which is why, if you've seen the anime, they have to logout to check the BBS.)
6. The BBS (A large forum just for the users of the game to discuss the game and other things.)
7. Crimson Knights (To have them I'm sure, in this world being the real world, they would have to get paid to do that. I don't know if Subaru ever got paid, but she did have authority and a direct connection to the CC Corp.)
8. Member Addresses (In normal MMORPG games you can PM someone just by seeing their name on screen and typing it in. In this game you have to ask the person for their Member Address and they must send it to you. No matter if they tell you their character name or not you must know their member address to Message them or invite them to a party. It's a good way to keep your privacy.)
9. Bugs (Before I go on, for those who don't know the game is called "The World" in the series. There are a lot of bugs in "The World", and CC Corp doesn't touch them! I think it brings more fun into the game. They should only patch really big/bad bugs.)
10. A crapload of emotes (You can hug, cry, cough, sniff, get watery eyes, and pretty much everything else you can do in the real world.)
11. Human Characters Only.
12. When you take the headset off you character freezes in place.
13. Actual ROLE PLAYING (You can be a totally different personality in "The World". You can be anyone you want or every dreamed to be.)

Things that need to be changed/added:

1. Non-Target-Based Attacking (I hate having to target something and then press buttons to attack it... Say I am rushing a Lvl 10 friend through a Lvl 20 dungeon and I am Lvl 80. If a monster appears I want to be able to just jump slash and keep running. No targeting involved. Also when more than one creature is attacking me I want to be able to slash my sword(s) around once and damage them all.)
2. Graphic (Like literally skip the game graphics. I want this to look like a 3D movie. Graphics like Final Fantasy Advent Children, I know it's possible you just gotta have a good computer.)
3. When you buy the game, it is not just a game, it comes with the terminal for it!! -OR- I wouldn't mind if the game came out for 360 or PS3, depending on which can take those graphics, FFXI online graphics suck even though the game may rock. I have played it in HD, there is no HD for that game xD.)
4. Trillions of different characters (FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE CHARACTERS! From the nose to the fingernail paint (for girls). I mean like you can choose from 100+ different hair styles and any color and even add highlights and etc. 2000+ different markings on your face, because all the characters in .hack have markings on their face lol. All kinds of eye colors, eye brows, eye lashes, mouth sizes >.>, noses, ears, skin color etc.)
5. Boys will have to play boy characters and Girls will have to play Girls characters. The communication in this game is voice based so unless you wanna sound like a manly woman or a really girly guy be the right gender. Some might say, but I don't want to stare at a guy while playing this game... Well, *clears throat* its first person!!! lol. Again, if you have seen the series, Tsukasa's case is different. Maybe add in a slight voice changer to make your voice sound lower or higher.
6. Zillions of different clothing and apparel.
7. The game already has a max of 3 person parties. I think that your ability to head larger parties should increase as you level up. And/or there be a super rare item that can add another party spot. This means your ability to form parties, you can still join parties that are larger than you can form. You should still start at 3 person parties.
8. I don't know if this is already implemented within the game but there should be a vicinity of hearing. So if you are just kinda far away you can still just barely hear a person. But once you step out of the vicinity completely then you can't hear him/her anymore. There should be party only chat. Also powerful mics so that you can yell and it wont get distorted. Varing by the volume of your voice the way the characters body movements and mouth size/movement should vary.
9. In game Messaging (In the series you can message ingame, yet you have to use a keyboard for that right? Well I think it should be both either the controller or the keyboard. On the screen of w/e terminal you are using should be just your messaging system. Maybe some other stuff.)

MMORPG's that are out now are NOT MMORPG's... All it is, is a random ass video when you start the game explaining this random bullshit story that you never need to know. Then once you get into the game its like ok just kill monsters, do quests, and level up as high as possible. What "role" are you playing? Pretty much everyone does the same damn thing. I mean seriously, I would actually like to play an actual role in the game and have the possibility of becoming a "legendary player". And have the chance to make actual friends inside "The World" that I can look forward to talking to everyday afterschool. That would be fun!

In normal MMORPG's maybe you have a real life friend you party up with but I mean seriously what can you guys talk about over text or even voice. You guys know each other so just call each other...

I am tired right now, if I didn't think of everything I wanted to I will add some later.

I'm not reading that whole post, but yes, this has been discussed many times before. The thing about .Hack that a lot of people seem to miss is how many unique ideas there are for an MMO in the franchise. Many of them could turn the genre upside down. If done right, a .Hack MMO could be amazing. In before someone mentions .Hack//Fragment - that's not how you do it. Honestly, I'd be happy if they just made //GU into an MMO without a lot of major changes being made, but there is a massive amount of potential there, so why stop at that? The question is when can many of the ideas presented in the franchise be fully realized?

I think it's possible to make an excellent MMO based off of .Hack at this point, but it probably won't happen. Why? Many of the people who work on MMOs never try anything truly unique and interesting. They'd rather stick to fail-safe formulas. That's why the biggest MMO right now is WoW. Really, though, with so many people asking for such a thing, why hasn't it been done yet? The only reasons I can think of are:

A) They're still not sure if it would be very profitable (and if they stuck to fail-safe formulas then it probably wouldn't. doesn't mean I wouldn't play it l o l)
B) They're incompetent
C) They're just plain stupid

Of course, if you wanted something practically identical to the MMO in the .Hack franchise (virtual reality and all that shit), you'll probably be waiting a while. Would be nice if technology eventually gets to that point and an MMO like that gets made, but for some reason, I can't see it happening.

I'd definitely love the ability to PK someone and send them into a coma in real life.
