Here's another mecha anime for us mecha fans. The way the mecha and pilot link up is really familiar to NGE although Japan's mech Susanoo is sporting some Gundam colours :P (surprise, surprise). The only thing I find whack (although all of the mecha cliches are in this one) is the UN organizing war across all countries? Ah well, this anime seems like it's going to have a lot of mech battles with a lot of variety of mech designs, definitely worth watching. Oh yeah, the animation is pretty good as well and there seems to be some sort of love story involved. Well, now all that's left to do is wait for the second episode.

Awesome, thanks. I'm not particularly excited about the show from the description, but since most of the others this season that I said that about have pleasantly surprised me, I'm definitely giving this one a chance.

[edit] Okay, so I watched the first one, and was pleasantly surprised yet again. The whole 'world war' thing seems a little illogical, but I like the rest. The main pair reminds me a bit of Eureka and Renton in Eureka 7.

so I went to try this out. I was also pleasantly surprised.

Those facial expressions are so ubber o_o . I'm enjoying the animation thus far. I also agree that world war organised by the UN is a little strange.

Well time for episode 2 ^.^

I was very impressed by the first episode, I'm definitely going to keep watching this. The character design is great and somewhat familiar and the rest of the animation looks great as well.

Ok, am I the only that watched the first episode and spent half the time laughing about the characters faces? There are alien people in my mech anime! Lol, it wasn't so bad that I couldn't enjoy the show, but certain dramatic moments got messed up because I ended up laughing at the weird fricking faces they would make.

That being said, I actually really enjoyed the first episode, mostly because the girl intrigues me. I have a weakness when it comes to mysterious female characters, what can I say. :-p

The characters have the facial characteristics of infants; it's very off-putting. Otherwise interesting premise for a mecha though, even if the first episode takes a confusing "don't tell or show" approach to the giant head overlords of humanity.

One of my questions is why fleeing a duel counts as "suspended", rather than an automatic disqualification, like it would in any other combat sport. In theory, every time a mech pilot is aware he's losing a fight, he could just bail the scene. It cheapens the stakes.

Intersting, I'm pretty sure this is the same character design as Kamichu.

Overall it was kinda strange and difficult to follow with them skipping over any of the explanation on why the UN is agreeing to hold wars with giant robots and what the heck happened with the green clounds and electromagnetic storms at the equator. Also something about the world being robbed of energy? There was far too little explanation to set up the story.

Also the behavior of the main character is somehow odd. I get that he is from the boonies and after moving to the capital everything is new to him but he doesn't seem understand and care what is happening around him. Both on a personal level and in terms of the wider things that are happening in the world and are reported on the news.

I usually hate labeling people as such but he nearly seems autistic. For instance - people pull guns and shoot each other near him and he just stands there like he has no sense of self-preservation at all.
