| you got anything to back up that claim? while I don't watch a lot of incest romance anime, the few shows that I have seen were all harem romcoms anyway where the non-sibling romance scenes vastly outnumbered the ones with the siblings. |
| I don't know if your assertion is even true, and I don't even watch that specific sub-genre, but I would imagine it's because in a typical romance there's a lot of the main guy and gal getting to know each other first. A brother and sister already (typically) lived together for like 15 years so the writer can skip that part. |

| Yeah so romances like Domestic Girlfriend, Gimai Seikatsu, and Tsurekano involve step-sibling romances and they do feel like they have a lot more of a focus on serious romance than something like Giji Harem. But maybe that's just confusing romance with drama? There's a lot of added drama due to exploring the taboos of the situation, giving these shows a much heavier serious tone. But I think without too much searching you can find non-sibling romance anime that have a serious tone to them as well. |

| Romance at its core is just 2 people thinking the other looks fit and breedable. Not complex at all. Incest romance adds the depth of facing taboo and prejudice to that relationship. |
