| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- And once again Earth is saved by a song! Okay I finally get it why this isn't liked by most Macross fans. I wouldn't call myself a Macross fan yet, even though I found that it has good merits being in a parallel world setting and all, this series didn't somehow click with me even if it was standalone series on its own. Or maybe I'm just contaminated by the Macross culture and needs to be purged by Marduk. LOL Anyway, this is a 6/10 for me. Stay in the parallel world dammit! XP |

| If I had to sum up this series it would be: Macross cheesiness without the memorable characters. This was so very....average all around. So, I'll give it a 5. |

| I just watched this whole series a while ago and I already forgot what happened in these 6 episodes... Edit: I remembered now this series was weird but it was enjoyable overall so i'll give it a 6/10 |

| Yeah, interesting ideas, but the problem is no development on those ideas. This could have been about journalism and truth vs. sensation, or perhaps it could have been a mere examination of the "defense mechanism" that the Marduk uses against culture (vaguely reminded me of how our bodies fight cancer). Besides that, there were at least 2-3 creative directions this anime headed for a few minutes before reverting back to the boilerplate. It's like they had the ambitions of at least a 26 episode show but only realized their time issue about halfway through. Ah well, it was still a fun watch for me! |

| The more it went on, the less original it tried to be. Also, apart from emulating the original's conclusion, just how and why is the reporter falling suddenly for the military? 3/5 "You were a wonderful rival" ? Right... Overall: Uninspired replica of Macross/DYRL, it lost its few interesting ideas somewhere instead of building on them. The designs were beautiful and in the direct continuation of the original (unlike anything "macross" made after them) but sadly, the pictures between close-ups look often like the sub-artists were unable to keep the level in drawings quality, the action was certainly decently animated for OAVs , the music a bit tame but they didn't forget to have pop songs. Score: 5/10 @St0rmblade Bad influence from Gundam ;) (although guards mean nothing, Anabel Gato proved it: guts (and no hard work) are enough for any giant japanese robot hijacking) Don't worry; from the bits I saw from the other works, you just made your way through the worse of them all. |

| Superficially, I love this. The art and music are great. I really love Mikimoto Haruhiko's art style. Too bad about the plot though. The OVA tries to hit all the same beats as the original series, unfortunately it's not very successful. There were some weird themes of freedom of speach, censorship and the military peddling their propaganda that really just went nowhere. I would have liked to see those themes fleshed out more, but I guess being a six episode OVA there wasn't really enough time. A really unsatisfying watch. |

| At somepoint this just became Macross with different but way less interesting characters and less memorable music all crammed down to six episodes. I'm pleased I've finally seen it but I think I'll be struggling to remember it in the years to come. At least the animation was nice 5/10 and it displeases me greatly to score it that |
| Overall very average OVA, though the artwork and animation were definitely the highlight of the anime. Especially the character designs by Haruhiko Mikimoto. |

| Yeah, like most comments here saying it didn't really bring anything new to the table. DYRL did everything better. Found the MC corny, and Ishtar's VA was off at times. Animation, however, was pretty good. |
