Should you be able to change picture of your favorite character on your page? (Only pictures from the characters "detail" page)

| I've seen this discussed before, but not restricted to just characters. It's also often suggested that it should be a MAL supporter perk. Regardless, it'd be a welcomed addition for sure. |
| I think this feature is NEEDED, for everyone. It would decrease 50% of the nuisance in the forums of people asking for changing pictures. I particularly took off some favorites because at some point they changed the pic to something truely ridiculous. The admins already take a long time to approve any picture for shows or characters nowadays. Wouldn't bother to let us pick what we judge is the best. Once I saw someone suggesting votes for the main pic; that doesn't work. In Lastfm there are people free enough to have thousand of bot accounts to change and even troll artists main pics. Everyone should be able to freely decide at least the character pic. |

| In theory it's a good idea, it would allow your page to look more uniform and you could match it to the color themes of your profile. It also gets rid of the annoyance of some of the character portraits having borders and others not. On the other hand, it would cause for a lot more image requests from people desperate to have their version of their favorite character added. Would add a lot of moderation work. And another thing, when looking at someone's profile it would become less clear what someone's favorite character actually is. |

| The current system imo is rough, but not the end of the world Custom favourites might lead to non-official/fanart pictures used for favs which could lead to legal troubles for mal and is probably the #1 reason it hasn't been implemented yet. Other than that, it's like what the other poster said, everyone having the same favourites makes everything uniform and easier to identify |

That'd make profile customization even more complex, but most importantly, it would allow users to choose another picture of their favorite character, if they didn't like the main one, no matter the reasons. I can see it working well as a special feature dedicated to MAL Supporters. Another plus of implementing such change would be, of course, having another thing attracting people to become MAL Supporters (if they are not already). This one is one of them. Perhaps the biggest disadvantage. | It's definitely a problem when a character has many different versions. I love Kitaro, but the Kitaro from Gegege no Kitaro and Hakaba Kitaro are so extremely different that they might as well be separate characters. Would be useful to choose a picture that represents the version you like the most. |

| Yes please, there are a few favorites I've considered removing every time I look at them solely cause I hate the current pictures T-T And it'd be great to differentiate between anime/manga versions of characters if the character's personality/character design is botched in the anime or something (ex: Kaiju No.8 current anime pictures look horrible lmao) |

| One year has passed, several replies have been added, nothing has changed... typical! And to think that I usually define myself a positive person.... MAL gives me zero hopes. Same thing with the poll in my signature, we're at about 125 votes (please vote), no acknowledgement. And nothing will ever change, as usual. But if you don't try, you can never hope to get there, right?? Have devs/mods ever responded to one of the suggestions? I would be curious to know, really. It's just us users here, replying to each other... There should be a Community Manager overseeing all of these ideas, rating them, replying to them. This feels hopeless!! |

| @Technopunk That's actually different from what most of the users have suggested in this thread and related threads I linked above. Plus, that's not really intuitive. You'll have to download and upload images on the Modern 'About Me'. Then you'll have to add links to specific character pages. There's no feature to even add labels on each of the uploaded images (I know you can add a label on top for all the images but that's still different) unlike with the 'Favorites' on profile pages, you can just hover over the images to check the characters' names and click on an image to go directly to their MAL character page (no need to take several steps and add links manually). Also, having to do all that on the Modern 'About Me' is kinda redundant when you already have the 'Favorites' section but users are free to do as they please on their profiles (as long as they're following the guidelines)... It's just that it would be so much nicer for the 'Favorites' section to have the feature users have been suggesting for years: The ability to choose from images that are already available on character pages for their favorites. MAL already has a similar feature for cover images on Interest Stacks...
