Aww, such a cute reunion. :3 Oguri Cap had missed her friends so much.

such a wholesome reunion between Oguri and the Kasamatsu girls 🩷

Speaking of The Zone, I hope I wasn't the only one who used to think The Zone was the character's Unique Skill lol. I read some people on the other side Oguri had already activated her Triumphant Pulse back in her Kasamatsu days x

We’re back with the silly horses after what should be the final break, and this was a nice cooldown episode after the excitement of the Japan Cup, and Oguri Cap was feeling down as expected, only her version of being down is like being in the middle of a 30+ minute “You Enjoy Myself” lol (only I will get this joke). But as funny as it was seeing Oguri spaced out, on the inside she was really lost because she can’t quite reach what Tamamo Cross has, as well as other generation defining horses, being “The Zone”. I liked the way Roppei described it, it’s known to exist despite there being no scientific proof of it (a bit surprised there isn’t, but if I remember correctly, I think Agnes Tachyon was researching it in “Beginning of a New Era” but I could be mistaken), I have no doubt Oguri can reach it, but I like the method of making Oguri so strong that the zone doesn’t matter. Also, that imagery of buff Oguri was kinda cursed lol.

And ngl, I got a bit feelsy in the second half with the reappearances of Jou Kitahara and the horse girls from Kasamatsu, it really feels like it’s been a long time since Oguri’s early days (well, it kinda has since cour 1 was back in the spring lol), so it felt especially nice seeing all these familiar faces again, it’s probably the perfect way to get Oguri out of her slump. And it’s a shame Jou didn’t pass the exam, I was really hoping he would so he could be there with Roppei training Oguri, but I like that he’s become an old friend to call up when he’s needed, he and Oguri have an irreplaceable bond after all. But, there seems to be some drama with Tamamo going on behind the scenes, I think I might know what it is but I’ll hold off till it’s revealed.

I am not disliking the idea behind a Zone, but the fact that it seems so crucial in this stage to win. While we could have been more proactive on tactical or psychological training front, something that has been mostly missing ever since the basics in Kasamatsu. We still have our last minute brainstorming, but surely Tracen Academy should have some impact on Oguri except her... hanging around. What about stamina building? She's now consistently entering 2000+ m races, and it's a stark contrast to her beginnings.

Even Rice Shower's Spring Tenno Sho preparation in S2 was about increasing her endurance and mental fortitude. Hopefully the show subverts the concept of a Zone by showing a character winning without activating it, among other Zone users or just becomes more subtle about it rather than being on-your-face.

Liked the reunion. Kitahara's remark about giving the exam forever makes little sense since Oguri Cap might as well be preparing for Dream Trophy by then; so Ig his dreams are independent of her. Then again, he seems to be allowed to advise Oguri here without any restrictions, so the entire thing feels lukewarm. The stadium montage was cool, and liked the Luna chan plushies cameo (or are they simply Rudolf plushies?)

Among other things, Belno researching was a good addition, even though the results she is getting is something already well known. Nakayama course is bizzare, whoever designed that was probably thinking of convoluted HK highways. Maybe she might eventually have a breakthrough.

Considering real life events, I am interested in how they are developing that Tamamo side of the plot.

Super Creek keeps flustering her trainer, and Dicta Striker keeps charming me for some reason glass cannon tsundere tomboys.

Yeah I agree, I think the zone is a cool concept but it also feels kinda cheap, like does any kind of training matter when you just need to ascend on the racetrack, but I will say the zone does make for some really cool scenes in the anime.

Well you know that zone thing is kind of a bullshit thing to begin with. All Oguri needs is probably just a good friendship training lol. Even better if it involves 3-4 people at the same time which will increase Oguri's overall stat even further. But to be real here, all she needs is just a friendship training on stamina instead of speed. Maybe it could help her greatly in a long race. And also some wits too. Oguri seems lacking in that department. Nice to see her old mates from Kasamatsu to be her partners for the training.

Speaking of Creek and her trainer, Fumino really need to chill there. Looks like she's spoiled rotten and playing goo goo babies too much lmao. They need more screen time fr.

It was better, yeah. CyPictures has had to cut some corners, sadly, because of the increased output this year, but the fact that it’s still at this level is a testament to the staff’s passion and good management. I’m expecting the Arima Kinen to turn out much better than the Japan Cup.

Poor Oguri spent a good portion of this episode tuned out and into a daze after her struggles in the Japan Cup, which she did still get a respectable 3rd place, but losing out to Tamamo Cross again, along with Obey Your Master, shows that she's still missing that important piece that's needed for her to hit her true potential.

The zone itself as a trope can be good depending on how it is used and, so far, I think it's been used pretty well here. It's not without its flaws and can feel a tad cheap, but the concept of it is cool and it does make for some visually impressive scenes during the races, so I honestly don't mind it.

For me, the best part of the episode was surprising Oguri with a trip to the racecourse in question, Nakayama racecourse. Not only was she reunited with Jo Kitahara again, but also her Kasamatsu friends. It made for some heartwarming scenes upon seeing the girls smiling happily and I'm also glad that Belno got the push she needed from Musaka to do what she can to help as well. While Jo did sadly fail his exam, he's still determined as ever to keep on trying as much as it takes and you have to respect his commitment to his desire to try and achieve his dream. I hope that Oguri will take inspiration from this and use it, along with training against her friends, into the Arima Kinen. =)

Every scene with Creek and Nase is pure gold. It's also great to see the Kasamatsu group back again. I was worried that they'd be relegated to mini-cameos for the entire season so it's nice to see them given a bit more of a substantial role again.

Cutest thing you will see for a while

Oguri slump mode was funny even Roppei and Belno just ignores her..

Good to see my man Kitahara back. But the way he is going I doubt if he can become trainer before Oguri retires😭😭
But the interaction between them is so cute.
Great decision to bring Kasamatsu gang to help Oguri recover. It's always nice to see them.

Like people said here the zone is kind of overbearing. Clearly it's not Unique skill becz Oguri indeed used that before.
But the way it was explained mainly timelapse explains how so much thing happens in last spurt and for so long.

Although I kind of sense it what gonna happen , but looking forward to Arima Kinen the biggest race to end the season.
Dicta v Tama v Oguri..
Still hoping my girl Creek will do another shocker.

Yeah Fumino we get it average Super Creek trainer experience😭❤️

I really enjoyed the episode; Kitahara's return, at least temporarily, is something Oguri needed.

Perhaps with that little boost, she can reach the "zone."

I didn't fully understand the subplot with Tamamo Cross and her trainer, but if Simboli Rudolf is going to be involved, it could be interesting.

BTW, I wonder what sort of Test they do for the Trainer exam... is it literally just about what different routines Trainers needs to do for different Uma distance races? or is it on the rules of different race tracks?

Cause if it's similar to a Car License exam, it would be about the rules of the Road and barely anything about the Car itself. Which in Uma Race term, it would mean the exam is about Race Tracks and only a few about Umas themselves. But a Car isn't a living being that requires as much maintaince as a living Uma. So it might also feel like the exam might be more on the Umas than the Tracks. Hmm... do they do exams for RL horse Jocky's to ride horses? or RL Trainers do exams too?

Since from how they're talking about it, it sounds like the UmaMusu Trainer exam (for national level) is extremely hard.

.

LOL @ Head Empty Oguri. Kinda cute, want to squish and hug her.

Also, Creek do be doing that Heart Throbbing vibe. (It's more interesting in-game and manga, as the anime's the only one with a female trainer, the others have male trainers, so it's basically Creek rizzing up her male trainer, there 's also some points of time when Creek tried to invite her male trainer into the onsen together, lol) (in-game is male, cause the trainer rejected the offer, as a female trainer would have just taken it as there would be no issue with 2 females going to onsen)

.

"Not Anime and Game"

Dude isn't wrong, it's the same concept as us in RL saying "we're not in a simulation" YUP. (conspiracy intensifies)

BTW... how much does it cost to rent out an entire race track (for an entire day)?... that must have costed thousands of dollar... Tracen Academy's salary must be loaded. (unless somehow just being in 3rd in a G1 still gives you thousands of dollar rewards?)

Tho, I guess it's just renting the Tracks itself and not the entire building, as we've seen bunch of people apparently working in offices above the Tracks. Like Rudolf, what's she even there? I thought she would be at Tracen Academy...

.

Also, the reunion was nice.

Oguri was so happy. Best move old dude have done.

When someone is down, bring them things they love. Which for Oguri, it's her hometown friends and wiggy Trainer.

Wouldn't that imply that the trainer in the game and manga is also female? I've not read or played it but it was my understanding that most onsen in Japan are gender segregated, unless there's dialogue that says otherwise. I would assume that the game at least keeps the trainers gender ambiguous so players can insert whatever they like though I could understand if the manga at least chose to more clearly define the trainer.
