If there was a full season in the same wavelength as the last 2 eps this could easily be a 8~9/10. This was a 6/10 for me. Looking forward to another season hopefully focusing in the origins of the spirits.

As much as I would have liked to see dark/inverse/maou Tohka for more than 1 episode, she's so strong that the city and all the other spirits probably couldn't have lasted that long against her. Also, judging from the text on baka-tsuki, 1 episode seems to accurately represent how much time she was present in the LN. Both seasons of Date A Live are adapted at a nominal rate of 3 episodes per volume, and maou Tohka seems to only be present for 1-2 chapters (there are 5 chapters in each volume).

Quality... seemed a bit low in places. In videos of concerts with Hatsune Miku, I've seen the audience tends to move their glowsticks to match the tempo of the song. Not so for Izayoi Miku's final song. >.>
I remember at least one anime where existing shots were redrawn for the BD releases, but I kinda doubt that'll be within budget. Date A Live season 1 did ADD an extra shot of Tohka in the "otherworld" not present in the TV airing though...

At least movies tend to have higher quality animation than anime that airs on TV (not sure why), so maybe this won't be a problem in the movie. While the material at the end of episode 10 is too vague to say what the movie will cover, I'm guessing it will cover the next two volumes. 3 episodes per volume is about 60 minutes per volume, the next arc is two volumes, so that's 120 minutes for the arc, and that seems like a reasonable length for a movie. O.o

I'm surprised at how cool he kept given a naked girl pressing herself into him.

Well, I expected 12 episodes at least but still happy we're getting a movie. Pretty happy with the ending, even though Tohka's dark form was short and there wasn't an explanation as to why she turn into that form (at least to what I saw). Interesting how Miku was a tough spirit to get unlike the other's who were really easy to seal their powers and her backstory was pretty interesting and sad. Overall, pretty satisfied with this season even though it was short.

Hoping the movie's good :D

I'm surprised at how cool he kept given a naked girl pressing herself into him.

After rubbing lotion onto Kaguya and Yuzuru while they were topless, maybe this just didn't faze him that much. However... I think it's still unbecoming of a harem anime protagonist to show this little embarrassment when confronted by a naked girl. Would probably have been better if the storyboarders gave Shido a more embarrassed expression (even it's common) for this shot. O.o

Unrelated: If this is where the name "Sandalphon" comes from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandalphon, then maybe this was where the name "Nahemah" came from?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naamah_(demon). ...Or maybe it's just a coincidence since there's a syllable missing.

Nice finale :)
Miku's 180 personality change towards Shido was quite cute
This season did felt like it was a bit rushed. I didn't see anything different that was distinguishable from the 1st season, character development wise. Aside from the introduction of the new Spirits (Kaguya, Yuzuru, Miku), the involvement of the DEM Industries was quite surprising honestly. They didn't do anything major or serious last season as far as I know, but the way they just appeared out of nowhere for plot convenience as in forcing Tohka to inversion and how they treated "The World's Strongest Wizard" in the former part of the series up to the latter; revealing her strength and her seriousness was just weird and felt off for the most part.
Nonetheless, this season ended off with a 'wanting more' feeling, something in which is an expected factor. I will of course watch the upcoming movie and a third season if there will ever be one.
I felt as if the last season was a bit better than this season, but overall, this season had it's good parts, something in which I find enjoyable.

The whole inverse Tohka business was just retarded... it was over too easily and way too quickly... and Shido keeping a poker face even there's a nude girl in front of him and when he's being hugged by bare tits made this a "wtf" moment for me... but because of that finale... i give this a generous 6/10...

A few enjoyable moments, but my highest interest came from Kurumi coming back.

Episode was nice with dark Tohka and Miku finally being dere. The entire series was pretty decent except those parts where the budget kinda disappeared.

Guessing the movie will be a retelling of season 1 with some minor differences. Loved this series since before season 1 and still am.

I won't lie. For me, t'was mediocore. I can't help but think that they rushed everything off the bat in order to achieve some rating, but it worked the other way around.

I don't see any reason that people would watch this unless they want to see their favorite girl, which, in my case, is Tohka. And yes, the first season was way better done.

I'm still a big fan of DAL but this season was pretty disappointing. It's definitely a step down from S1.

This was too rushed to have any significant build up, there was no suspense or tension, things ended just like that. Inverse Tohka is the worst example of this. It all happened too quickly and was very poorly executed. I'm quite fond of the S1 OST but bgm was very lacking this time around.

If only they had more time and a bigger budget.

7/10. I'm a bit biased here but at the end of the day, it was entertaining enough. Plus I love all the spirits (esp. Kurumi <3) and it was nice seeing them again.

Please bring back the art director for season 1 and banish the season 2 one to a place where they can never ruin anime again.

I will say that the part where Tohka inverse blasted Shido and they showed Miku's reaction to the damage was nicely done and so was the kiss scene.

The first season was better, everything is rushed in this season.. and still not enough kurumi's scene, i need more scenes of Kurumi for love sake, kinda of disappointed of how they ended the second season, well Miku was a good point of this season i love her voice, looking forward for the movie and the OVA..

Overall score 7/10

Felt really rushed...everything was so rushed. I still enjoyed it because I like the characters and stuff but it could have been WAAAY better.

Animation quality was subpar too.

If Date a Live gets another season, they need another studio to do it.

A lot of people are complaining about the quality of the second season based on the TV version. But good news, the BD version is a lot better than the TV version. Someone who has watched the BD version for the first 2 episodes said that:
-The two Director's cut episodes are simply amazing.
-The pacing of the first episode feels very nice compared to the TV version.
-Overall, the visuals looks absolutely beautiful.
-The DC version of future episodes based on these first two looks very promising.

So we all should review the 2nd season based on the BD version.

Not as bad as I thought. Diva liking Shidou all of a sudden felt contrived. It will feel more natural if she acted more tsundere-ish.

It looks like there will be an upcoming movie; might be to wrap things up.

First half was pretty meh, the twin sister's relationship with "Itsuka" Shido is really forced, and their character development is very weak. Miku's char dev is pretty decent but how I am seeing it is adding girls to his harem yet only Princess is the only one in the end that's going to end up together with him. In fact, there's no chance with the other girls, yet they still are like "that"... A little bit of realism wouldn't hurt. Date A Live seems to be a char light novel in that it's the characters that make the series interesting but I feel like it's falling off even in that respect. Although I did like Miku's story.

Ultimately I have to give this a 5/10. It was rather bland, and I don't remember anything memorable except for Kurumi and Miku (man I just keep going on about Miku aren't I).

If they had spent a little extra budget, the series even started badly, it would be a good product, it is viewed as completed, but unfortunately it is not so, is he gets a pass.
Closeouts happy, but that's okay, the intent of the series was not to prove a deep work and time to scrutinize the human soul, but a light.
Given the brevity and many negative aspects, which in the past season there were, the series earns the final grade of 6/10!
I hope that in the future with the movie and a possible third season, are able to improve the situation.

Wow, I was definitely expecting more than just 10 episodes for the second season of this series. Great episode but strongly feel that it was over way too quickly, yet so many things unresolved. There's NO way it ends there, how are they gonna wrap everything up in the movie I wonder > looking forward to it.

Eh, it's over... finally. I don't think I need another season of this. At least the end was somehow decent.
First three eps were fanservice at least but then the show went downhill. One good ep (6th one) is not enough for anime like this.

4/10 There were some good moments but otherwise it was waste of time when I compare this to first season.

Definitely some improvements from the 1st season but what made the show bad is still there. Shido is not your generic harem guy, he's pretty badass possibly hinting a power of his own. All the girls he captured just became background characters sad to say. And Kurumi? Didn't like how she's treated here no matter how evil she might be. The battle scenes are still good. The dating shenanigans are still funny as ever. And to top it all at least we got to see a kiss in the end (even if the final kiss belonged to Miku). Isaac and Ellen are very interesting characters since there ulterior motive is still very shady as well as Kurumi.

I just hope they end it all with that upcoming movie so we could get over this and move on with another.

It was lame all throughout. Shidou is lame. and Issac is a boring villain with a very cliche goal - world domination or something and for some unexplained reason, many people are following him despite his very annoying face. They said this is TWGOK but with action and I for one thought that adding action to something like TWGOK would be great but... such disappointment. and look! there's a movie version they said... man, talk about milking the fucking franchise. Well I can still say this is average.. I was annoyed many times but I can't deny that I've been entertained to a certain point.

I didn't really like this season. It got good from Miku's arc forward but before that it was pretty meh. Kurumi seriously added big points to the last couple episodes. Without Kurumi in season two I would have given this show a 5 or 6.

Miku's arc wasn't all that bad. It was quite enjoyable to see and it got quite intense once she took control of the girls.

Dark Tohka was OP. Her attack she used on Shido literally left a wide and deep crater of damage.

I found it hilarious how Miku kissed Shido at school. The good thing was no one was present in the hallway or else they would've seen Miku's body lol. She's probably the most bold and daring spirit to have her powers sealed.

DAL movie announced.

The last episode was cool, another awesome Tohka x Shido kiss, would love it to turn out into real romance though, but it seems it is only growing into a real harem.
Anyway, is season 3 coming? I can't wait, especially for more stuff about Kurumi, she sure is hot and mysterious.

First off, I thought this season was better than season 1 in terms of character development, and plot progression. The fights were more epic as well. The only thing lacking was the animation, sometimes the characters looked choppy. This episode was pretty awesome minus some parts. I liked how Touka was rescues by Shido, and Mana, Origami, and Kurumi keeping everyone at bay was pretty cool too. Lots of build up for future stuffs.

Now why the 5/10? Because dumb bitch Miku and her disgusting voice. Honestly just her character existing was enough to drop it two whole numbers on my overall score. It would have easily been a 7/10 if she was never in this season. Oh god just the rage when they ended off the episode with her singing a song. Bleh.

Not really looking forward to the movie, because miku is included, hopefully if this gets a third season she doesnt become a main character or something because she would just kill what might be something good.

kinda rant over. lates

What a horrible sequel to an enjoyable anime, this whole season is a cringe-fest. I thought we are past the introduction arcs by now? So if, let's say a sequel is made, I guess they will be introducing more girls, while giving the current ones no focus at all? What the hell. Yoshino isn't even relevant at this point, even her status is reduced to a supporting character, not only that, the Yamai sisters barely even matter, after their arc they didn't have a 'cooldown' period.

The Miku arc was so bad, the characters, the development, and just about everything is bad. Miku just somewhat changed for the sake of the plot, which development was extremely forced. Not only that, Shido was pretty damn bad for the whole season, he's just there to preach of how he's such a "seigi no mikata", how the others are just wrong, but the worst thing is, he is JUST all talk, when push comes to shove, he's either saved by the girls, or the plot aka DEM or whatever that's in his blood, or his secret whatever nakama power.

Enough rant, terrible sequel.
