I'm only about half way through this series, which I stumbled across while searching for something to cure my boredom, and at least once in every episode I've found myself pointing out that the elements and physics do not work the way they are presented here. It's like the writers had no knowledge of the elements or the laws of nature, or even the basic understanding of physics that even a child has.

It's me nit-picking, I'm aware of this, and other than that the series is not awful. It is not good, either. But, it is not awful. So far I'm ranking this one about a 5/10, but this could change before I am finished.

Back to my nit-picking now. Elements like Fire, Water, or Ice should not be able to contend against the power of Gravity at all. But, yet we see Chelsea's Gravity attacks being blocked by walls or shields made from those elements. I do not understand how the anyone could even misunderstand such a simple concept so badly, the walls and shields of Fire, Water, Ice, etc should fold, bend, or even break apart at a touch from the power of a Gravity punch. The Gravity power wrapped around her fists would function much the same as a singularity, it would draw everything in and crush it and her fist is driven towards her target. There was also the occasion where Rumina drove off out of control Lightning with a blast of wind, this could never happen. All you have to do is witness a thunder storm to know this, Lightning arcs through the sky regardless of the wind's strength. Even during hurricanes and tornadoes.

I'm sure we can explain it all away with some cheap excuse about how it's because the elements are being controlled by people who have limited power and so forth and so on, but that's just crap.
Odds are I'm not going to find my way back to a thread after my first post, it happens on occasion but not often. So, if I say something that offends you and you feel the need to force your opinion on me because obviously everyone should have your opinion or none at all, feel free to post it in the thread that I'll probably never see again. However, if you are interested in intelligent discourse, feel free to message me.

Really? That's the best you can come up with?

I never said anything about it having to be realistic, but there is something that is taught to all writers and even makes it way into some English and English-Lit courses called "suspension of disbelief". In order to give the readers or viewers the ability to suspend their disbelief and not be judgmental concerning the implausibility of the tale it must contain human interest and a semblance of truth. Without that it becomes increasingly difficult to suspend judgment when something happens that should by normal means be impossible.

I guess it's too much to ask for you guys to show some signs of intelligence, but if snarky bits like that are the best you can do- Well, you might as well not say anything. You're just making yourselves look like children.

I admitted freely that I am nit-picking about this particular part of the series, it's not that I expect fiction to be realistic. However, it's not too much to ask that writer's actually do their jobs, right? I used to work as a writer myself, and I'd never have been able to get away with something like that even in fantasy/super-power fiction. Without that suspension of disbelief, it's nigh impossible to avoid making these kinds of judgment calls, and that makes it very difficult to enjoy what might have been a good story.
