Mardock Scramble is originally a Novel , but it's not in the database of MAL.
Then the Manga started , and the Movies were made when it was still running.

Both the Movies and the Manga adapt all the Novel , but the Manga also adapted a side-story.
Overall , the Manga is considered as a slightly better adaptation , but the Artstyle is not as good as the Movies.

I didn't read the Novels , so i don't know who's the more faithfull.

Overall , the Manga is lighter in tone than the Movies. (Which isn't really a good thing , in my opinion)
Movie 3 came back and forth in the timeline , while the Manga was straightforward.
The final fight felt quite rushed in the Movie , but he's more stretched in the Manga.
The epilogue is more conclusive in the Manga , while the Movie feels more open-ending about the futur of the main character.

Just for the tone , i would personally recommend the Movies instead of the Manga , but i didn't liked the Movies anyway.

Everything seems superficial. (The past of the protagonist , the non-motivation of the antagonist , the whole Scramble system...)
Especially the prostitute past of Balot , it's mentionned in almost all dialogues , and it's here just for the sake of it...

Honestly , while i was watching , i couldn't help but think that it was a lot like Gunnm , but with a boring vibe.

WAIT HOLY SHIT this is like gunnm?
damn i must watch this then,
obviously i don't expect this to be as good as my #1 manga, but if it has 10% similarity this is a must watch.

i've literally been looking for like 9 years for any series similar to gunnm, so far only dorohedoro slightly matches some of the vibes but completely different

Yeah, I read a couple chapters of Alita and got major Mardock vibes from the protagonist.

I feel like the movies are waaay too rushed. Nothing makes sense if you don't know the original story. It looks gorgeous yeah, but nah. Ooima did a way better job with the manga i'd say, the pacing is perfect, the art evolves constantly and the whole thing is brutal, depressing and sick as fuck. :3
