It’s nice that we can finally bring back the romance tag again after... wow, has it really been since season one lmao. And really, who better to turn to than the guy who literally pulled three straight all-nighters for the girl he loves. Ofc he’d know the most about this stuff. But yeah tbf, not even Sakuta could fix this one. It’s barely a puberty syndrome issue. it’s more like attention seeking, I won’t say the “w” word, but if anything, Sara’s slowly leaning toward that territory.

And yeah, I’m sorry, but this girl is just so unlikeable. It was already bad enough when she ruined Sakuta and Mai’s date last episode, but now she’s going way too far... SHE IS LITERALLY FLIRTING WITH SAKUTA HERE, LIKE HELLOOOOO??? And the crazy part is that Mai knew it beforehand too. “I want Sakuta-sensei” basically echoed through the whole building. Great, yeah, can we wrap this up already please?

Or maybe just move on to the Santa subplot, because from the looks of that ending, we might have finally learned the true identity of this “Touko Krishima” a.k.a. “Miniskirt Santa”... Nene Iwamizawa.

On Christmas Eve, which was supposed to be a sleepover date with Mai, Sakuta dreams that he goes on a date with Sara Himeji, a student from the cram school where he works part-time. Strangely, Sara has the exact same dream, and she tells Sakuta that she is suffering from Puberty Syndrome. However, she also says that she doesn’t want him to cure it. Sara explains that ever since developing Puberty Syndrome after a heartbreak, her worries have disappeared, and she’s been enjoying her new, “popular” daily life. Sakuta tries to reason with her. In response, Sara provocatively asks: “How can I fall in love with someone, like you do, Sakuta-sensei?”

So we have a name now, the question that remains that what's the biggest problem of Santa girl.
Speaking of problems Himeji seems to have a big one as well tho one that's not unusual for a girl her age.
It's always hard to deal with emotions and trouble in life, she just needs a little bit more life experience.
Mai being understanding as usual.

Wait is that romance in my aobuta episode?? Finally?? This got spicy and messy. It’s so funny seeing Sakuta and Futaba being the object of students’ affections considering where they started as students themselves.

In the case of Sakuta and Himeji tho, it might not be as harmless as it seems. Could her puberty syndrome actually make her a Yandere and have her hurt Mai, surely not right? But she does seem hellbent on stopping anything.. or anyone, that keeps them apart. That outburst at the end was a bit concerning. Almost feels like since she got dumped, she’ll do anything to hop into another relationship to validate herself.

I’m gonna feel a little bad for Kaisai when he inevitably gets rejected by Futaba tho lol. That ending! We’re getting closer to unraveling the Kirishima Touko mystery

It seems like Himeji sara have Narsistic tendecies, You know, like she loves being loved by People. I guess its stems to her history being accustomed with liked by others and popular within her surrounding, that s make her think that "people are the one who should give her love not the other around".

That thinking patern hindering her to expressing her true feeling to other, when someone she love ended up found New love other than her, She starting to shaking and Confused, causing her to develop Puberty Syndrome...

Kasai finally did it.. proposing to Futaba xD
And he was the childhood friend of Himeji and the reason for her heartbreak as well.
Azusagawa involved Futaba and made Himeji totally mad on purpose lol
Mai really has high tolerance to Sakuta's cheating attempts, haha. She trusts him so much.
So our mini skirt Santa's name is Nene Iwamizawa. Can't wait to know what's gonna happen on Dec,24..

Oh boy. Ty who’s Sakuta gonna choose on Christmas Eve??

A) MaI
B) Himeji
C) Kirishima Touko

7:50 Sakuta got him 🤭 sly

18:50 SHE KNEW WHAT HE WANTED TO ASK 🤣🤭

20:40 Oop, that got awkward 🫣🫢

Sakuta found out a little clue at the end about Kirishima Touko’s identity 👀

Things are getting a little confusing tho with all these characters and couples 😅

I can't get a read of Sara at all... except that she's pure trouble, not just with Sakuta but to everyone around her.

Little by little we're getting to know Santa-san, Iwamizawa Nene, who!? is Kirishima Touko just an alias? could be, given that she's basically an internet celebrity... does that mean people forgot Iwamizawa Nene but can recognize a different name?

And what's with Christmas Eve, so much things building up at once, this is like a repeat of what happened with Shoko where Sakuta has to choose what to do with Mai's life on the line. I can't shake off the feeling that Kirishima Touko is heavily tied with Mai-san, cause it's being talked about online that they're the same person, maybe that's what will lead to the bad thing that will happen to Mai.

Yeah, Himeji is still as unlikable as last episode, and as much of a red flag as her introduction with that elevator "scandal-ready" framing for the scene.
Her puberty syndrome manifestation is exactly the opposite of his friend Tomoe, but while Tomoe wanted out of a difficult situation and hoped to not be given attention, this narcissistic girl hates the fact that she is no longer being treated on it. So yeah, as much as she denies it, her syndrome is one of getting attention.

But well, if it was that it would be ok in my book, she is a JK after all, but what actually seems to drive her is fucking over other people, as displayed on how she clearly tries to piss off the other girl in Sakuta's class whose name I don't remember and has been clearly in love with the other guy, or how she was pissed that the other guy wasn't fawning over her with 0 chance.
Bet you that date on christmas is just because she wants to piss of Mai, using all this women as substitutes of Futaba, the one and only she wants to be hurt in the feelings because she "took the guy that made me important".

Well, now we have info for Kirishima, but they still keep showing messages of Mai and her being the same person on the net like it has been since ep 1, so the foreshadowing is still full head on.

I love the fact that this season exists, and I'm thrilled to spend time with these characters again, but to be honest, I've found the plotlines and their resolutions to be underwhelming compared to S1.
This current one finally seems like it carries some stakes for characters I care about, even if it barely seems supernatural.

I kinda like that things feel a bit more relaxed. In season 1 everything was so dramatic that sometimes I found it a bit hard to watch, even if I found it to be a great story.
I also feel that season 2 feels more like one continuing story compared ro season one, I think I like that more as well.

Himeji is straight forward, but also a bit tricky to read at times. I think this episode was able to explain more about her situation of what led to her getting the puberty syndrome in the first place since Kasai, her childhood friend, also has a part to play here.

Futaba is also involved here since Kasai has feelings for her. Things did get tense after Sakuta called over Futaba during his one-on-one lesson with Himeji, which led to Himeji's outburst before she left in a hurry. It does help to paint a clearer picture of her situation, although how it can be resolved still feels a little bit off.

Not only that, but Sakuta's friend viewing previous winners of a pageant competition shows Kirishima, or Nene Iwamizawa going by the name next to her picture. Maybe that's her real name, which does feel like a step closer to getting closer to sorting her complex issue out. Either way, Christmas Eve is fast approaching, so hopefully Sakuta plays it carefully considering how busy he's going to be on that day.

It still bugs me we are getting the name reveal of the 3rd main character in the 9th episode.. almost in the last quarter.. What the hell.. I was really expecting the Santa girl to be a lore more present in the story.. anyways..
Absolutely love bratty girls like Himeji-san lmao.. Dumb 15-16 year old falling in love with adults cuz they saw it in a drama.. she needs correction!

A lot less Mai-screen time but more Futaba screentime so either is win-win.. (i love Futaba)

Good episode as always.

Romance in an AoButa episode???? NO WAY?????? I was craving for some romance and finally got some. Can't believe that Sara straight up just flirted with Sakuta but its great though. I'm still so curious about Miniskirt though, but that last scene, is Touko Kirishima not actually her name?

Sakuta was thinking a few steps ahead this episode, the way he perfectly read Himeji and Kasai is yet another example of his analytical ability. That scene with him intentionally making Himeji angry by suggesting Futaba teach her instead ended up being super effective as well.

Speaking of which, it's also pretty hilarious how Futaba unintentionally became a part of his antics. This poor girl just can't escape Puberty Syndrome. I know she'll likely reject Kasai since #dreaming hasn't been wrong yet, but I do hope we get some closure for her feelings towards Kunimi.

And after the revelation of "Touko Kirishima" AKA Miniskirt Santa as Nene Iwamizawa from the same university, Sakuta is now forced to manage a triple date on Christmas Eve. Of course he can't just enjoy a relaxing holiday with his beloved girlfriend Mai.

My boy Kasai shot his shot with Futaba, what a lad he is, even got Futaba kinda flustered, I think bro has a shot! And even if his dream comes true and he gets rejected by Futaba, I think Sakuta’s advice was very solid, I think the chances look pretty good if he goes with that, and it’s like Sakuta said, Futaba needs to move on from Kunimi, so I think once Kasai graduates he would be good option for her, but we’ll have to wait and see on that, and hey I’m just happy to be getting some ample Futaba content this season lol.

All that aside, some interesting developments with Himeji in this one, still no idea what her puberty syndrome is but it’s heavily related to when Kasai dumped her, and it has to do with her perception of loving someone and being loved, there’s a lot going on with her basically, and wow the way she got mad when Sakuta pushed her buttons at the end, the mask came off there for sure. And Touko doesn’t know what her puberty syndrome is either? Quite the pickle. And speaking of Touko, I guess that name must be her persona online because she had a completely different name on that website, so she used to go to this same university then too, can’t do much with that info as of rn but thank you for the breadcrumbs lol. But wow Christmas Eve is booked as hell for Sakuta now, I’m thinking he can blow Touko off easy, but Himeji might be something he can’t prevent, I am really hoping he doesn’t have to abandon the Mai date completely, that would be a real shame.

I don't think I like Himeji bossing around Sakuta like that. She's making things unnecessarily complicated while he has to go around and figure out what her Syndrome exactly is because of her relationship situation. While that's the narrative's excuse for him to act like a detective, it makes the rest look inconsiderate. December 24th is gonna be a mess.

So its official = Santa girl is NOT Touko Kirishima. She is just a random girl who also has Syndrome.

As for who is Touko Kirishima, so right now the strongest hint is that its most likely Mai; although that seems doubtful and "too easy" of a guess. And if "Mai is in danger", then the "other world" would not have written "find Touko Kirishima". So seems very very doubtful that Mai is Touko Kirishima.

And if you wanna dissect further, I guess Miori is a possible candidate for Touko Kirishima since Miori seems like she is a heroine as well. I mean, I highly doubt that Miori is just a random cute girl who looks important, but that she just happens to be a background character despite her feeling important. GIVEN, Saki is a girl who looks/feels important, but she was never a "heroine"

And honestly, all of this drama would have been solved if the "other world" had simply told us how is Mai in danger, when will she be in danger, how will she be in danger, who is Touko Kirishima.

The "other world" seems to have the answers to all those questions, but they just simply said "Mai is in danger; find Touko Kirishima"

And once again, in this season, Sakuta just happens to run into a solution by simply being there/coincidence/random infodumping, with this episode with the male MC finding out the true identity of Santa girl by simply being next to this other male character who just happened to run into Santa's girl identity in the computer.

But this arc has just been meh; no one wants to follow a bunch of first-year-high-school-students around, when all the main characters are basically in their late teens/early 20's, since it just dumbs down the anime

Agreed there’s a lot of “convenience”. Even if the relationships made more sense there’s no emotional connection between I the viewer and Himeji. We’re supposed to care because this somehow affects Mai? Literally just go chill in Hakone for the last two weeks of the year and avoid all the drama including Futaba’s stuff.

Ofc we wouldn’t have a show, but there’s also the issue of characters. Mai just comes off as an Ice Queen this season. Besides refusing a hug on her Birthday the only comment we get on why she likes Azusagawa is because how obsessed he is with her. Just makes her sound super narcissistic, (despite knowing she would jump in front of a car for him). Are we supposed to care about Futaba either? She’s only really been shown this season to say “Idk about this case of puberty syndrome”, at least in S1 she had some character development and interactions including at least trying to explain the science behind puberty syndrome. We’ve had one poor attempt at that so far. Sorry for complaining but I’m literally just 😴💤 the majority of this season

Finally, I managed to catch up to the latest episode.
In just 2 weeks, I marathoned movies 1, 2, 3, and the 8 episodes of season 2.

Maybe even without the analogy of puberty syndrome, what happened to Himeji could still be understood in real life. It’s the feeling of a teenager who gets rejected by someone she thought would never reject her, then she vents her frustration on another guy by making him fall for her and then rejecting him. But in Himeji’s case, it’s already serious and annoying—not only did she mess with a fellow teen, she also toyed with her tutor’s feelings, and afterward played the victim, which caused the tutor to lose his job and even get into trouble with the police.

I still feel frustrated—there’s always something disrupting the moments between Sakuta and Mai. Now even their Christmas plans are disturbed by a problematic student named Himeji, and by an actress who suffers from puberty syndrome like Mai, namely Touko Kirishima.

We are 9 eps in and I have not cared for any of the girls and their puberty syndrome/stories... they're all underwhelming, the last girl almost, ALMOST had something good going and while I admit the twist was interesting, the result was still, lame. Worse is prior to this season all the characters' p. syndrome were unique, not a already been done b4, here though it is largely recycled and the seemingly new ones are not that interesting in the slightest. I'll still finish this but I'm ngl here, i am MASSIVELY disappointed and do not see this season getting better, certainly not enough to go above a 7.0 rating (and if I were to rate it right here and now it'd be a 6.0). Ofc, it could always get worse instead of better... but seriously, what the hell happened t make this season's stories so dull and uninspiring and just, the rest of what I said?

i think this episode with Futaba, the girl, the three previous cram-school male teachers, and the girl's male childhood friend have clarified how the girl's Puberty Syndrome manifests. she charms men she can't have for legal/social reasons and/or don't want her since they're already involved with other women.

so i think my previous label for her as Schrodinger's Thieving Cat is correct. the uncertainty principle. you don't know if the cat is dead in the box till you open it and see. she doesn't know if she'll love a guy or dislike him, so she charms men she is uncertain of... since the one guy she WAS certain of... her childhood friend everybody thought was her perfect match and they made a great couple... dumped her in some way.

entirely rando guys are attracted to her, because they're relative strangers to her. adult teachers aren't supposed to fall for her. Sakuta has Mai-san the most beautiful and perfect girlfriend ever. but Futaba is also a hottie, therefore adding in the girl's male childhood friend and source of her 'charm disorder' fell for Futaba... so that outburst at the cram school was the girl's jealousy that Sakuta paid more attention to Futaba than the girl. plus the girl's guy-pal etc. liking Futaba.

perhaps one of the reasons Sakuta is immune to the charm is the girl DOES want Sakuta to some degree of certainty, so her charm isn't as effective as she thinks it is. another reason? our Rascal does have an inordinate obsession with his girlfriend. one more reason for his immunity? add in the fact that he is highly HIGHLY experienced with the effects and affects of Puberty Syndrome. MC Plot Armor does possibly come into the equation too. ;>

or i'm entirely wrong and stringing together a completely messed up series of hypotheses. :D

All in all another well done episode. First it was nice how Sakuta and Futuba spoke about Kasai and when he later tries to help him it was so good. On the other hand the conversation with Santa Claus was strange again and it seems like she wants to interrupt Sakutas and Mai-sans happy time. Second it was strange how hard Himeji wants to be loved by other people. After a small lunch it was revealed that she had been rejected by Kasai (who confessed his love for Rio Futuba) and that she wants to learn how to love other people like Sakuta does. It seems like Sakuta comes closer and closer to understand Himeji, but still he cannot fix her puperty syndrome.. When Sakuta tried to mediate between her and Futuba, she exploded and it was revealed that she had been rejected by Kasai (who confessed his love for Rio Futuba). At least Miori could clear the cloud a little bit and asked Mai-san what she loved about Sakuta, what she responds with his love for her (what was quite sweet). When Sakuta tried to mediate between her and Futuba in a tutoring lesson, she exploded and its clear that she's jealous. At the end of the episode Sakuta was also able to find out the true personality of Santa Claus / Kirishima Touko to be "Iwamizawa Nene". This keeps it exciting for the next episode.
