Fushi no Kami is similar to Dr. Stone if it was set in a medieval-ish civilization instead of a post-apocalyptic world and Ascendance of Bookworm if MC was more focused on the contents of books and not the concept of books. This series is tagged as an isekai/reincarnation series but the fact that the MC is reincarnated into the setting serves more to motivate him into advancing technology because he remembers what civilization can achieve, rather than directly using his knowledge from before to "cheat" and do everything himself (at least so far, 32 chapters in) . It's an interesting premise, but the most unrealistic
...
thing is how the MC manages to use his earnestness/enthusiasm to convince everyone to go along with his schemes (yes, even those with extremely malicious intent at first). Like it feels like there's barely any meaningful conflict with other characters, and most of it is struggling against the limits of their knowledge and the current level of technological advancement. Characters feel pretty flat and 2 dimensional but maybe this will change in later volumes. Aside from the story, the art is pretty cute, character designs are decent, backgrounds and settings are good.
Overall this is pretty bland and inoffensive - not necessarily bad, but not necessarily good. Will update this after reading more of the series.
