Synopsis

Maki Maehara is always on his own at school. He has no friends or hobbies others share, and he doesn't expect the upcoming academic year to be any different, even surrounded by new faces. And six months later, it seems like he was right—until he runs into his popular classmate Umi Asanagi at a video store! Always at the center of attention and called the "second prettiest in class" by the boys, Asanagi's from a totally different world. But it turns out the two have more overlapping interests than just the B-grade movies they came to check out...and Asanagi asks Maehara to be her friend!

7/10 - A Cliche romcom with great characters. It explores themes of friendship and belonging.

I enjoyed this manga, with its very common premise of "Loser boy meets popular girl" I didn't expect much. Being a slice of life the overarching storyline and setting are nothing to write home about, but what really shines in this manga are the characters. It starts as a generic rom-com manga, but wait... hear me out... it is a rom-com manga that's for sure... yes the character development is slow but its steady... it's not going in full circle but rather progressing slowly... the story revolves mainly around Maki though it's rom-com manga it has a bitter sweet slice of life to it... The story dives into how certain things are seen and overall the plot might not be the best but it's still a great read... well I would say the characters act like how a real person would act... So, I am writing this based off pure memory but stories like this I have read countless amounts at this point.
Writing the generic plot would be too simple so ill take this in another direction.

for some this may be another "Loser boy meets popular girl" type story but ill tell you why and how a common
trope people have seen tons can actually be cared about from the readers perspective.
