I decided to write this since there's no review for this work yet...
The FL, Ciella, is being sold off to marry an old guy, her mother sucks and her brother, Kyle, is completely obsessed with her. To run away from this, she accepts a contract marriage with Duke Noctum, who is also an asshole. Camellia, the OGFL of the story Ciella has reincarnated into, brings in Edwin, the original heir to House Noctum. Ciella realizes how quick she was set aside by her husband and decides it's time for her to leave. The work has a good start and interesting plot, it's easy to sympathize
...
with the FL since everyone around her is a bad person - that is, ignoring the fact that it takes TOO long for her to leave the House Noctum, and the fact that is quite obvious (and cliché) that the OGFL is using magic to control the minds of the men around Ciella.
But all of this continues to repeat in an endless cicle throughout all of the chapters.
Kyle constantly tries to attack Ciella, who learns a total of zero things with her past mistakes and keeps repeating her actions (there's little character development). There also seems like there's no consequence to Kyle's actions since, only in the chapter I dropped (36) that he's actually sentenced to death (that is, if that actually happens, since I didn't read enough. Wouldn't be surprised if somehow he's able to escape prison).
I also tried my best to ignore the inconsistencies of the story, but it was to a point that I was almost throwing my computer against the wall from so much rage I was feeling (lol). At one point I was fine with a bit of inconsistencies because I was reading the story just for the romance and because I really wanted to believe it would improve. But it pissed me off how, around the 30th chapter, Ciella and her older brother make up a plan to trap Kyle by hosting a debutante ball for Ciella. Kyle would be obviously attracted by it and then they would catch him. The moment that it happens, things are quickly turned upside down, her brother is attacked by Kyle and Ciella is in complete despair.
Now, wait, wasn't this what they both were expecting? Didn't the two of them plan ahead? What exactly did they expect it would happen? That's the kind of inconsistency I'm talking about. It doesn't make any sense.
It would take a LOT more of patience to get through this story, one that I don't have. So if you do, go ahead. Maybe it gets better in the next chapters, but I don't really care if it does, lmao.
